Rate this book
In this sixth DATA Set adventure the kids get shrunk down and go on a buggy adventure across Bunsen’s backyard.

The town of Newtonburg has been invaded by all sorts of creepy-crawlies from mosquitoes to bees to ants and more! What’s worse is that they are all mysteriously swarming toward Dr. Bunsen’s house at the same time that Laura mistakenly gets shrunken down to the size of an insect. Can the DATA Set find their missing friend in time, or will Laura be forever lost in Dr. Bunsen’s backyard…which is full of grasshoppers, spiders, and things that go buzz in the night!

Hopper, Ada Invasion of the Insects (The DATA set #6), 128 pages. Little Simon, 2017. $17. Language: G (o swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G.

This is the story of four friends who just happen to know a really cool scientist. After having several adventures because of him, they never know what to expect. Dr. Bunsen's current experiment is a bug repellent system. When the kids go to see him, Laura gets shrunk to bug size, and before you know it -they are all bug size. First they go on a rescue mission to get Laura (who has been taken by a dragonfly). Then they have to safely get back to the lab and find some way of letting Dr. Bunsen know they are tiny!

I have reviewed other books from this series and like the science appeal and the creative adventures. However the first two books have received zero checkouts in my library and I am stumped as to why –the covers are appealing, they are an easy read for high K and first graders, the illustrations are fun. I would still add this to my library and hope to increase my book talks and see this fun series get some circulation.

I still believe this is a great series for kids but I didnt like this one! I thought the plot was reaching for something that wasnt there and it didntbwork in their favor. I am only one book from finishing the series so I will get the last book but it seems like they lost it with this book.

Book #6
Laura is shrunk by accident and the others shrink themselves to rescue her. Wacky adventures slide science into the fun.
