She's a free-spirited artist. He's a surgeon who needs a wife.
Lindsay West is more than satisfied with her life. She enjoys men, but she enjoys her freedom even more. Why would she marry again? Marriage is like agreeing to eat the same boring meal for the rest of your life.
No thanks.
Giovanni Novello isn't like other plastic surgeons. While his colleagues are getting rich doing facelifts and boob jobs, he's traveling to the most dangerous places in the world helping needy children. Some people even call him a saint.
Lindsay would call him something far less flattering. After an ill-fated one-night-stand, she hopes she never sees "the saint" again.
Except to her astonishment, Giovanni shows up on her doorstep one evening and tells her he needs a wife.
Too bad. He can ask someone else.
But when she's robbed and all her savings are stolen, she finds herself growing desperate.
Maybe even desperate enough to marry the saint.
Warning: Contains one insufferable surgeon who's sexy as hell, a heroine who plays poker and cusses too much, steamy nights in Berlin, ...and finally a love story between two people who help each other heal from their difficult pasts.
*All books in this series can be read as a standalone.*
Andrea Simonne grew up as an army brat and discovered she had a talent for creating personas at each new school. The most memorable was a surfer chick named "Ace" who never touched a surf board in her life, but had an impressive collection of puka shell necklaces. Eventually she turned her imagination towards writing. Andrea still enjoys creating personas, though these days they occupy her books. She's an Amazon bestseller in romantic comedy and contemporary romance, and author of the series Sweet Life in Seattle and About Love. She currently makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two sons.
I’m working my way through this series and I’ve enjoyed it; the books are not perfect in fact in every one there are things that bug me, but the characters grab me, and the plot lines are compelling making me want to finish them. The same holds true for Some Like It Hotter, these characters both had traumatic pasts; both were convinced love was not for them, yet both were the type of people to help others even if it came at great personal sacrifice. These characters were complex, they had issues, they’d had a previous one night stand that neither could forget, and to top it off their siblings were married to each other so complicated doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship. Some Like It Hotter is a story of putting your past behind you, living in the moment, and looking to the future even when it looks different that you’ve imagined it.
Lindsay might only be 33 but she has two ex-husbands and no plans to ever marry again. She likes her life; her art is her passion but she also has begun to realize that it’s time to have a steadier income so once her residency in Berlin is up, she’s returning to college to get her degree so she can teach art at the high school level. She’s excited about her future and she’s been playing poker at the casinos to fund her college degree and living expenses, something she hasn’t told anyone about other than her friend in Berlin. She doesn’t feel she can share her gambling with her sister after what they went through with their dad, but Andrea is not her father she doesn’t spend her winning on frivolous things and she certainly doesn’t lose it all the next night. When her brother in law and ex-one night stand Giovanni shows up in Berlin she’s suspicious and she knows something is up with him, she just has no idea that what he asks of her will change her life forever.
Giovanni knows asking Lindsay to agree to marry him for a short while is a long shot, but it’s one he’s willing to take to protect the children of his late best friend. Tracking her down in Berlin, he never expects to have an altercation with one of her suitors or to find her playing poker to fund her college education for when she returns to the states. Growing up wealthy and being a plastic surgeon although one who has spent his career helping children in third world countries, he’s never had to worry about money. When she turns him down, he knows he’s going to have to work harder to convince her but when a tragedy occurs she reluctantly agrees but he worries if they will both survive unscathed since it is obvious neither one has been able to put their one night behind them.
The attraction between Lindsay and Giovanni was undeniable from the start and it continued even when they tried to not give in to it. Both these characters had experiences in their past that weren’t pretty which led them to locking their hearts up tight and despite Lindsay being married twice she never gave herself fully to either of her husbands; she didn’t share her past with them. Giovanni hadn’t shared his past with anyone close to him either something that had sent him spiraling down fast only to be pulled back when his best friend and then roommate contacted his father out of concern. Their experiences shaped them, they let it define them, but as they shared they began to heal. It wasn’t easy or pretty and to be honest at one point I wasn’t sure they’d come back from it when Lindsay kept a big secret from Giovanni (an ongoing theme in this author’s books keeping secrets from a partner), but once apart they both realized that they were happier when together and that their love would see them through. I liked these two together a lot and felt that their past experiences were similar enough that they not only understood one another better than anyone else could.
Overall, I did enjoy Some Like It Hotter; these characters were damaged yet their hearts were so giving, their stories while tragic made them stronger, and their love for one another while unexpected filled them with a joy neither one had experienced before.
This is book 3 in the Sweet Life in Seattle series. I adore this series and was pleasantly surprised to find this was Lindsay ‘s story (she is Natalie’s younger sister-we met Natalie in book 1) After two failed marriages, sculptor Lindsay West doesn’t want to ever get married again. She ends up in Berlin as part of an artist-in-residence program and while there she has a horrible run of bad luck do to something - her studio is robbed and she suddenly finds herself in a bad way. She had had a one night stand with Giovanni in the past (he is a plastic surgeon) and things were so hot and steamy that Lindsay got cold feet and ran because she was afraid she would get attached so she left. Gio reappears in her life and he is now her brother in law and he needs a favor. He needs a wife so that he can adopt his deceased friend's children –Well, Lindsay isn’t big on marriage but for the children, she decides she will go ahead BUT she puts condition on the marriage , she will do it for two things -- for twenty grand and a no-fault divorce when the children are safely adopted in the US. Giovanni and Lindsay think things will go smoothly but they fall in love but Lindsay still has a secret in her past and fears which leave her afraid to give in to love. Can a relationship last that was built on favors , sexual tension and so many secrets between these two tear them apart? I loved book 3 in the series, the chemistry and the heat. I also liked the bit of mystery and I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. I cannot wait for Tori’s book which I understand is next up.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
What an excellent story. I guess if I had to put them in order of which one I loved more it would be book one. But, that's probably only because the slimy ex comes back groveling for Natalie.
Anyway, this storyline was so good. The build of the relationship was put together perfectly. It's unlikely that the marriage proposal is realistic, but who cares, I loved the story and this crazy girl Lindsay. Giovanni was really a great guy under all that old baggage. I absolutely fell in love with him.
Yes, all three books so far have been awesome. This book was a pre-order, and book four, object of my addiction will be too.
My only complaint is the cover, it's hideous. Lindsay is supposed to be beautiful. The girl on the cover is definitely not beautiful, not scary looking, but not beautiful.... Excellent Read.
I can't help but say this series Andrea wrote is brilliant. Every single one is full of humor, has strong message about love and hands down good piece. This one in particular made me cry and laugh all at the same time. I want to read them over again...love them all!
I enjoyed the story between Lindsey and Giovanni. It didn’t go quite the way I thought though. I thought Giovanni would be the tough nut to crack when it came to realising feelings, but it was Lindsey; she is hardcore, when comes to feelings (and also frustrating, as everyone else can see how wrong she is!).
I felt sad at the thought of Giovanni’s plans near the end (the house 😔), I enjoyed the girls’ rock out dance sessions with Natalie, Chloe and Serena and I respected Anthony for not falling out with Lindsey over the whole ‘nanny curse’ 😂.
I think I’d quite enjoy a Christmas novella with the Novello’s! Holidays with Anthony, Natalie, Chloe, Serena and Luca, Giovanni and Lindsey, Francesca (mum) and dad and all the cousins, along with Phillip, his wife and Paul’s kids. That would be entertaining chaos!
Pretty quick, easy read. Now is a rom-com style and third book in the Sweet Life in Settle series. Giovanni is the bother to the MMC in book one, and Lindsay is the sister to the FMC in book one. Giovanni is a traveling doctor who works hard in 3rd world countries and never stays for the "morning after." Lindsay is an artist living in Berlin for a few months when Giovanni shows up with a proposition. He needs her help, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to get her to agree. Lindsay has been married twice before and definitely doesn't want to go down that road again, but when she is robbed, she may have no choice but to listen to Giovanni's proposal.
With past trauma'son both sides, Lindsay and Giovanni have to figure out if what they have is worth giving up secrets and past heartaches. To be able to trust not only each other but themselves as well.
This book was not at all what I was expecting, it was soo much better! 😍
I thought this was going to be a fun little rom-com and while it was really funny it also had emotion, trauma and healing factors, which I absolutely loved.
The MMC is a blond haired, blue eyed Italian man and the FMC keeps making fun of the fact that he doesn't look Italian. She keeps saying Norwegian or Asgardian stuff and even calls him Olaf. I really loved the banter between these two. 😂
But besides that they both had a lot of trauma in the past and it's beautiful to see them healing because of eachother.
I also really loved the writting style, it was super quick and easy to read.
This was not my favorite in this series. I disliked it so much that I didn't bother to finish it. I got to 57% and quit. I love a good sex scene as well as the next person and they were well written but, it was to much. I had to skip chapters must go veg back to the storyline. The main characters were so screwed up that they turned me off. I really wanted to like them but I couldn't.
In the third book of the Sweet Life in Seattle series we follow Lindsay and Giovanni. They are siblings of characters in a prior book. He is a plastic surgeon, and she is a free-spirited artist. They had hooked up once at an earlier date and then gone their separate ways. He looks her up again because he has a big favor to ask. They are both very damaged people but also very endearing. This is my favorite out of the three books I have read. On to the next!
So I really enjoyed their story. Their initial rendezvous at the siblings wedding and then reconnecting in Berlin.
Of course I also love having the characters from the earlier books come back into play as well. But the growth that these two had and their ability to connect to each other on the most intimate of levels was really well written and a beautiful read. The sizzling bedroom scenes didn't hurt either. :-)
I have enjoyed reading this series very much, very talented author 😊I have to say this book was so good I never wanted it to end ! Giovanni and Lindsay were perfect together, they had so much in common but were so different, if you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and get it soon, you won't want to put it down !!
I did enjoy Some Like It Hotter; these characters were damaged yet their hearts were so giving, their stories while tragic made them stronger, and their love for one another while unexpected filled them with a joy neither one had experienced before.
I loved Lindsay and Giovanni's story, and it was shaping up to be a 5 star read, but y'all the shark incident was just too far-fetched for me. I know it is a minor detail and I get that the author was trying to make it a headline-inducing incident, but it distracted from the story in my opinion. In this day and age everything is on the internet so I think it could have been accomplished without such an unlikely event.
All of that aside, I actually like this story better than Road and Blair's. Lindsay and Giovanni are more complex characters and I loved seeing their relationship grow.
This series is in 3rd person POV (not my favorite for romance, but it is done well here).
While I loved and enjoyed this book. I wasn’t comfortable with the format. I think I’ve grown accustomed to two points of view in the stories. And usually when I start a book and realize the style is based on one point of view, I usually stop reading. But the 1st chapter intrigued me enough to stick it out. And the laughs were worth it.
Out of the series, so far, this is my favorite book. I always was curious whether Lindsay and Giovanni would have more to their story. I'm glad they did because I ended up really liking both of them. My only complaint was that the last bit of the book felt unnecessarily rushed. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
A heart of hearts..., This one was hard for me to get into, the middle of the book it started to pick up for me. I can see why both Lindsey and Giovanni had issues connecting at first. The ending was nice, it makes me curious about the authors other books.
Lindsay and Giovanni have history, one passionate night. Giovanni needs help with something and needs Lindsay's help. Her story with her fertility made me feel for her. His back story made me feel for him. They are a great couple, only if they let it happen.
This poor couple have it rough. Neither believe they deserve true love but fall for one another anyway. She’s locked her heart away and runs scared, but one simple loss at a poker table fixes everything and they get their HEA
This book was so flipping funny to read. I love how the characters are so sexy and strong yet funny with out being corny. I can't wait for the next book in the series
She is fiercely independent and strives to be the best in every aspect of her life. But, secrets break down the walls and she discovers what means the most in life. A fun read lots of smiles and a few tears.
This is the third book in this series. It is the story of plastic surgeon Giovanni and artist Lindsay. The chemistry is off the charts with these two. They have not quite matching baggage. As in the other books in the series, the story peters out (pun intended).
Lindsay and Giovanni. Former hook ups. Now in-laws because of her sister and his brother. Living abroad. A chance meet up….or not. There’s still something there from the prior night of romance. But is it enough? READ AND SEE! Great book. Love this series!
I really liked this book especially the characters, even from the previous book. Such a good story about each person's past & how it affects them later. It brought a tear to my eyes in places.
What a wonderful beautiful story of redemption, forgiveness, happiness and love. Lindsay finally finds her peace and Giovanni passes the bandits test, more than once.
This wasn’t my favorite out of all the books but it was good. I just feel that Giovanni let Lindsay off too easy he should have made her grovel a whole hell of a lot maybe made her follow him around the world to try and win him back.
I love this series so much! Giovanni seems cold at times but his character warms your heart the more you get to know him. Lindsay seems fun loving and adventurous. She has her secrets that affect her self worth, as does Giovanni. They are amazing together!
Third book on the series, my favorite so far. Lindsay and Giovanni story start as a business agreement of sorts, convenience for both. They both had troubled pasts that shaped their present, building a fiery and sweet story. On to book 4!
Andrea Simone wrote a good book. I has sisterly bonding and close family ties. This story is about Lindsay and Giovanni. Lindsay is an artist and Giovanni is a doctor. They met under auspices circumstances. Without giving away the book- it is a happily ever after story.
