Have you ever had to repaint an entire room because your daughter likes to draw on walls? Only to have her draw on the new paint within a matter of days? I have.
Have you ever had to scrub another person’s bathroom because your other daughter didn’t quite make it in time, and thought the best idea was to smear it on the walls and toilet seat? I have.
All I ever wanted was to be a mum. Turns out, it’s not quite what I imagined it to be. I’m not that perfectly dressed, refined mother who’s always portrayed on TV. No. That’s not me. I make mistakes. My children aren’t perfect. In fact, they can be downright devilish at times.

OMG! This book was hilarious! I say this as a frazzled stay at home mom of 3...only 3 and staying at 3, don't want any more. I think that is all my wine budget can handle.
I could totally relate to this book, each and every example of her children's crazy antics. Been there, done that and have the grey hair and stretch marks to prove it. Super Mum? Is a great reminder that we are not alone in this crazy adventure, they call motherhood. We are not the only one that has a child that has had a complete nuclear melt down in the middle of the grocery store, all because we said no! And, despite these events that have us pulling out our hair, at the end of the day when those little arms wrap around you neck and they mutter the word "I love you mom!", we would do it all over again...no questions asked!
This isn't my usual read, but I believe it is a must read for all Mom's out there, just to serve as the reminder we are not alone and to just sit back and laugh at the crazy things we go through as a mom. I loved it and Thank you Stacey for making me realize that we are all Super Mums!!
So I was supposed to post this review last night and then what happened? I fell asleep whilst trying to put my child to sleep. So, when I read about the main characters and her 2am conversations with her child, I just knew; this woman gets it!
Super Mum is an accurate depiction of life with children. Every chapter is a new day, bringing hilarious banter and even funnier predicaments. My favourite thing about this read is knowing that I’m not alone. The struggle is VERY REAL and Broadbent knows it.
Underneath all the humour, the sleepless nights and the memorable bowel movements is a woman battling between her head and her heart. Struggling with sleep deprivation, financial constraints and missing that one on one time with her spouse – Broadbent writes about life.
For a short, funny and refreshing read, Super Mum is a great pick me up. A reminder that there is no such thing as perfection, but rather that the beauty of family is all the imperfections.
I really enjoyed this book, it painted a realistic picture of parenthood with all the highs, lows and in betweens that come with it.
While I am not a parent myself, I work with children and could totally relate to a lot of the scenarios, regarding the behaviour of children. Super Mum had me both giggling and despairing over situations similar to ones that I had experienced.
The writing here is solid and I really enjoyed the humour within this story. So many people will be able to relate to the narrative and, being a novella, it is perfect reading for a night time after the kids have gone to bed!
I received an ARC of this book. This was by far the funniest book I have read so far this year. An absolutely brilliant account of motherhood. Stacey Broadbent had me in tears from laughing at her children's antics and life in general. I would loved to have read more of the story, it just seemed a little too short. I loved it nonetheless and I definitely would be interested in reading more of the story.
Omg! This was so frigging funny and also recognisable. Having small children is something different than having teenagers or young adult. Because of this story I was thrown back at least 10 years earlier in time and remembered the funny but also exhausting times. This is a must read for mothers who think they are alone in this. And the author's husband? He is your next bbf
I received an ARC for an honest review Review by Country Gals BOOK Blog
As a mom myself, I absolutely adored this story. Moms struggle with running the house, keeping it clean, family fed, watching the budget, etc. It becomes exhausting yet we wouldn't have it any other way. Those moments your kid says they love you or cuddles with you is worth every struggle. This story was a funny and relatable story for all of us moms. The ups and downs of parenting, the daily tantrums, the inner struggles are all portrayed in this story. There's no sugar coating it because we know what it's like to be like the mom in this story. Definitely a top read for me this year.
So I have been wanting to read this book for a while, but you know how life gets in the way. Well I finally made time to read it. You know what? I didn't need to much time, this book was such a great read!!! Funny, but yet so incredibly, sadly relate-able. I love the ease in which Stacey writes giving us a story where we can put up our feet with a glass of wine and realise that, what our kids do is actually bloody normal! Can't wait to read Super Mum!
Such a refreshing and lighthearted story which is so different to what I usually read. It made me giggle and laugh out loud while I empathised and reminisced about my life when my children were younger. This is the first book of Stacey Broadbent's that I have read, but am looking forward to reading more.
The best hidden novella about the struggles and strengths of motherhood. This first person narrative hits every high and low point of the down and dirty nature of the journey mother's experience. I laughed and cried while reading each snippet. Stacey Broadbent truly captures the essence of those moments which squeeze your heart so tightly you can't breath, and then unfolds how they turn around building up the ugly frustrations of the little people you love so dearly. Regardless of all the humorous incidents, she also touches on the partnership with your spouse, which grounds the two of you together during the difficult moments. This little work offers a raw and truthful approach about motherhood, and the torn feelings each mother has as they decide to close up shop or extend the stay.
As a mom of three, with the best hubby and father my children could possible dream of, I truly enjoyed each little vignette. Every glimpse brought back memories of things my own offspring had done. At the time some of them did not seem so humorous, but Broadbent resurrected some now very funny memories. Enjoyed this so very much!
I so loved this book. I can't even begin to tell you how REAL and HONEST this read truly was.
This was just adorable. How can you not relate to a read like this? The relationship between Mum and her children reminded me so much of me and my baby girl when she was little...always into everything, challenging everything you said. Zoe was quite the charmer.
I laughed and sighed, shook my head, and talked to our hero (mum) throughout the whole read. This was a superbly written book, with the perfect touch of love and humor, things that are so important to families.
One of my favorite things is to read books from authors over seas. Their ways of writing and dialogue are so proper and perfectly understandable...works like these always set the bar high for other authors and I love it.
The struggle is real, folks and Stacey captures those moments that we can all relate to with our precious little cherubs and injects humor to make this a must read!
From mixing those perfect concoctions quietly in the bathroom to broaching the subject of "another bundle of joy" to the family tree, Stacey has it covered.
I enjoyed reading the daily interactions inspired by her own family and understood the emotional struggle that every day brings.
No mom should go without reading this book! You will have not wasted a single moment by taking the short time to flip through. You absolutely will not be sorry.
I loved this book! I laughed all the way through and thought to myself I can understand the lack of sleep, the childerbeast's that sneak in to your room in the middle of the night, the logic that your child will throw at you and the 'I can't even' today.
Stacey writes a lively and hilarious story that we can all relate to, from that dreaded household budget, to wanting more kids, to waking up with feet in your face at 3am.
I thoroughly recommend this book, and give it a solid 5 stars, I can't wait to see what Stacey's next book will bring.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As a mother of three girls, I could relate so much to the author! It was very witty, cleverly written, and gave me a break from the chaos of life. There were some parts that had me snickering out loud and getting odd looks from my family! Some I even had to share with my husband. I'm so very glad Stacey wrote this book and I hope she continues to entertain us!
I can definitely relate to this book. Life is crazy when you have kids but I wouldn't trade it for anything. This book describes a lot of what went on in my household when my kids were younger. The mischief, sneaking around, and the nightly bed wetting isn't missed. What I do miss is the snuggle time. It was a good read.
Super Mum is a heartwarming and hilarious book. Completely relatable with the ups and downs, the chaos and calamity that comes with being a parent. Even when your kids are acting their worst, when it's all calmed down, a cuddle makes it all worthwhile. The conversations she had in her head had me literally laughing out loud. It's a fast read that's impossible to put down, a must read for parents.
Super Mum is an easy going read, full of those everyday happenings that occur with children, the stress, the lack of sleep, the tantrums and cuddles too. The longing for another baby and how to approach hubby, brought back memories and smiles from when my children were younger. A real good feel book.
This was a short, light and easy read, with some totally relatable events which made me giggle, especially the running incident! A cool reminder to all the super moms that time with your young ones is precious, because in the blink of an eye they are all grown up!
Love a good laugh? You'll love this, especially if you have kids. You'll understand the midnight bed shuffle, the 'I want it now' discussions and the everlasting question, are 3 children enough? Quirky, humorous and a quick read, a thoroughly enjoyable yarn.
