I'm thrilled to announce that Kristy Piper, our favorite Scottsdale wedding planner, has taken up residence in Aloha Lagoon! After the crazy events of Scottsdale Silence, Kristy has finally achieved her lifelong dream of moving to paradise. She took a job in Hawaii as the Aloha Lagoon resort wedding planner on the gorgeous island of Kauai. Sun, surf, sandy beaches, and glowing brides...what could possibly go wrong?

Turns out, everything.

Want to know more? Check out Hula Homicide, the latest book in the Aloha Lagoon Mystery Series. This series is written by several bestselling authors, including Leslie Langtry, Beth Prentice, and Cathern Bruns. Each is a complete stand-alone novel, or you can read them one after the other.

As for me, halfway through a successful career in technical writing, marketing, and sales, along with having four beautiful children, I veered into fiction. For The Scottsdale Series, I tried to combine my love of the desert, derived from sixteen years of living in Arizona, with my appreciation of the modern romantic detective story. I hope you like the results!

Thanks to all for the great comments and questions. As always, I'd love to hear from you.

One of the things I like best about this series is the recurring people in Laura Black's life. Not only at the office with Sophie, Gina, and Lenny, but Amber-of wet dog or camel pee smell-is back! And Mistress McNasty returns as a client (Suzie Lu from Laura's apartment building) making Lenny nervous and the girls pleased to get to know her better. Of course the book would not be complete without mob ties-especially Laura's connection to Tony DiCenzo and his top henchman Maxmillian. Then there are the cougars-older ladies who have taken Sophie and Laura under their wings socially after meeting on a previous case. Right there the mix of characters is fantastic and full of fun and interesting situations. However we delve deeper into the crime world in this book and again come across men working for Carlos that have tried to remove Tony and Laura in the past. When Laura takes a part time job at a trucking firm in order to investigate a different trucking firm, she stumbles into an unlikely friendship as well as more connections to the evil Carlos. What follows is a search for a missing person, an investigation of minor property damages, efforts to remove Amber from the law office, and of course the continued search for true love by Laura Black.

B.A. Trimmer tells the story with bouts of laugh out loud humor, romantic scenes, and even mob torture. This is a book that the further into it I got, the faster I had to read to see how everything turned out! I enjoyed the extended character development and especially learning more about Suzie Lu. What an interesting lady! She took Laura and Sophie to Sedona and they explored the vortex (if it was the vortex) and exposed a different side of the dominatrix's personality.

You definitely need to read all of the books in order to achieve total appreciation and understanding for Scottsdale Scorcher. The best thing about each book is the mystery that is woven throughout the book. Thank goodness Laura doesn't give up easily, because she always gets results. Now if only her love life would be as cooperative!

Another great addition to the Laura Black series. Laura has to find a missing mob man and find a person out to get a trucking company. Everyone from the previous books are together again. Laura is asked by her neighbor to find a missing person. That missing person is Johnny, who is belongs to Tony's organization. Then, she is sent by her boss to look into some things being done to a trucking company, and finds some very interesting things. Meanwhile, Laura is still trying to decide which man to be with, Max or Reno. I really hope it ends up being Max. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Definitely a Scorcher!

This book was tagged a romantic light-hearted mystery, however it is anything but that. It is an action packed thrill ride from beginning to end! Yes there is romance, but there is also Mistress McNasty. Add in the mob, murder, kidnapping, & so many secrets & you have the makings of a great story!!!

And it just keeps getting better...

Just when you didn’t think it could get any better. It does! Laura’s gotten herself into quite a few comprising positions here, how will she get out of them? You need to to read it and find out-happy reading!

GREAT FUN!!!

This series is lots of fun, but the last book seemed like it was wrapping up loose ends. This book was more like the rest of the series.

Slow Burn

Got a bit burned out on this episode. Still like that Laura gives her daily wardrobe reports, and the accuracy of Scottsdale locations, dust storms, heat etc...just too much mundane inner thoughts, then action, then shoot outs, rinse and repeat..let's see how she tells Reno about her new car?!! More will be revealed. Come to think of it life is not all dramatic at all times and then Bam you run into someone who's goal is to make sure you die a slow painful way and Bam you're once again saved by a mobster that has your back. Right! Yea. Let's go with that. Oh and keep a baby Glock nearby! Loaded. Go drive that Mercedes with your head held high! Do it for Big Tony Laura Black.

Disappointed

I really do enjoy this series but I'm starting to hate Laura's back and forth over Max and Reno. She's clearly not in love with Reno, has continued a mild relationship with Max, and feels like she's settling with Reno. Even if she can't be with Max, she should stop stringing Reno along, I actually feel bad for him now, even though I sense zero chemistry between them, he obviously loves her. Please God end this infuriating triangle!

Another Stephanie Plum!

Yes, unfortunately Laura Black is the new Stephanie Plum. She can't make up her mind who she wants to be with. Geez, not again!
These are fairly good reads. If you're bored, pick one up.
This is it for me though. When a woman stars acting stupid in the man department I'm done! Hopefully Laura and Stephanie Plum will get a brain....

I enjoyed the first 3 books in this series. I like my books to have great characters, some mystery, some suspense, some fun, and some romance. But this 4th book in the series was a disappointment to me, because there is quite a bit of kink in it and it has sadness and disappointment in it. I'm not sure I will read more in this series, but the first 3 sure are enjoyable reads!

Another great book! Still love everyone. All fun people I'd love to share a bottle of champagne with! I only started the series in 2023 but I'm hooked! Have read the first 4 books one after the other. Totally obsessed with Laura Black and friends! Still team Max don't stop dreaming! Now for book 5 Scottsdale Sting!

Thrilling!

Scottsdale Scorcher is a great read! Laura continues to get herself in the middle of rival mob action. She finally makes a decision on which man will have her heart. There are twist, turns and many surprises in the novel.

Good but .....

So I love this series and the main plot was good as usual with the mysteries well developed and interesting. The characters are all back and I love their banter and wit. There is one main thing that I didn't care for:

******* Spoiler so avoid if you don't want to know****==

My main dislike is that Laura becomes a cheater in this book. She's with Reno but goes behind his back and starts making out with Max. She even chooses to leave Reno and be with Max and never tells Reno!! Max can't be with her in the end so she just goes along with Reno as her back up. I don't care for this and it disappoints me.

I've been eagerly anticipating the next book in this series and was not disappointed. Laura Black is back and can't stay away from the mob despite herself.

Hoping to see more in this series (and sooner)!
