Shiro Amano (天野 シロ, born January 4, 1976) is a Japanese manga artist who has worked on several projects, including his adaptation on the popular Kingdom Hearts series.
This was definitely a step up from volume one as it finally connects Roxas’ storyline to Sora’s and it includes some of the original Disney characters. Parts of this volume were confusing like volume one, but the story gradually feels like it’s making a lot more sense.
I still really enjoy Roxas as a character. I hope that this volume wasn’t the end for him and that he gets to be in this story more.
There was this boy named Roxas he kept having these dreams about this boy named Sora.Then...he woke up!!! he said it was just a dream... Yes oh...? Right okay....ITs agreed Roxas and Hyner will fight. and win that trophy at the contest!!!!!! YEAH!!!! We will fight tell the finale and they did ecept it froze Roxas saw and fought the nobodies so later he finds Sora and HE says I guess my.... summer vacation is overso will Sora save the worlds and save his friends????? read on to see
19 years later, this is still my favorite line in video game history.
Honorable mentions: “War. War never changes.” - Fallout “What are ya buying?” - Resident Evil 4 “You’d just come after her.” - The Last of Us “Remember, No Russian” - Modern Warfare 2 “Sir. Finishing this fight.” - Halo 2 "Now is the time to choose, die, and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrows, Now is the time to shape your story, your fate is in your hand!" - Final Fantasy X “A man chooses, a slave obeys” - Bioshock
I feel like I would have enjoyed this more, if I had read more of the series at the same time. Since I read Vol.1 over 3 years ago (6/23/2012), this didn't make as much sense to me. I do want to read more of the KH mangas, but this is the last one I own.
It was fun to revisit this world of Disney and Final Fantasy.
It's slightly annoying that the first volume and a half a pretty much the tutorial featuring Roxas from KH2. I mean, I was expecting that, but it didn't make it any less boring. There were some odd panels spread throughout (The fact that Hayner and Ollette wield a baseball bat with nails hammered into it was. . . interesting. . .?) I can honestly say I was surprised by the humor that goes on, especially in the background. Some of the dialogue and interactions of the characters had me laughing out loud. That said, some of the humor. . . geez it was weird. These generally have the same review as the first KH manga: Good for a review of the series. Worth the peruse. Not a masterpiece. Would recommend.
Also, I read these books in chronological order instead of publication order, which means I read the manga for 358/2 first before this series. There is a quality change, but it's negligible. (Yes I preferred 358/2).
Roxas comes to realize the truth about his existence and the town around him. He makes the ultimate sacrifice to awaken Sora and his friends. A new quest is waiting along with an old enemy, Organization XIII and their minions, the nobodies, but what do these mysterious cloaked figures want? And what are these memories Sora has, which he can’t explain.
This was tragic and beautiful, seeing what became of a character I became very fond of in a short amount of time. One hopes that Sora will offer him some sort of hope, perhaps save him as he’s saved many other people. More characters from various Disney movies and cartoons appeared, just as ones who’d been in previous volumes of Kingdom Hearts. An interesting premise was set up for the heroes along with an ongoing mystery delivered in the attractive fusion of various art styles we’ve seen in the series up until now. For all of these qualities, I give this four stars.
The more I revisit this plotline, whether through the game or this manga, the more I miss Roxas when things get switched back to Sora's POV. The last half of it feels like such a rehash that I just don't feel like giving this one a higher rating. Still fun, though.
Side notes: Yen Sid's crocheted Keyblade sheath that he makes for Sora is a cute yet funny moment in this. Nice touch.
Every time the illustration shows Axel standing on top of a building, I can't help but think of that cheesy movie "City of Angels." *plays "Iris" in the background*
For the most part, it's fine, but I think KH2 Vol. 1 is probably my favorite KH manga volume ever in all honesty.
Roxas hanging out with his friends in summer vacation plus eating ice - cream together n watch the sunset together. During battle, Roxas meet axel in few times - during battle, when Roxas friends forgot n left him when he cried & the day he remembered everything. The unknown black hoodie appeared n save Roxas from nobody. Finally Roxas disappeared since he's a part of sora.Sora finally awaken from his sleep include goofy, Donald & Jiminny cricket n they meet Mickey in their way but Mickey told them headed to the train n trying to distract nobody. I thought this was a good book to read on your own and get immersed in the story, the clash between Disney and a whole different set of characters blends together to create an entertaining and immersive story.
Roxas never ceases to make me cry in the games and the manga.
Watching him grow throughout the manga was just as heartbreaking in the games and I couldn't stop playing his theme on Youtube. Seeing Axel also broke me all over again. Although I was happy for Sora, I couldn't stop feeling awful for Roxas
As Roxas begins to remember more of his past memories, the more the world he knows and loves shatters, and the closer he comes to his own extinction. He was only a part of another, something that was created from a strong and valiant heart turning into a heartless. And now it is time for him to return to the boy so that the boy may awaken, and while wielding his keyblade, save the world.
I feel as if I would have enjoyed this volume tremendously more if it hadn't been early February when I read the previous volume. But this was still good. I'm going to miss Roxas. I want to learn more about his past and his friends..and Namine too. It's great that Sora is back and has a whole new outfit and stuff but I think I still like Roxas more. Maybe it's the angst, or the darkness that looms. Sora is practically an embodiment of light and naivety, and I cannot relate to that as much as I likely would have been able to. It's a shame that TOKYOPOP never released any volumes past this one, however, Yen Press has very recently picked up the series and is releasing omnibus volumes! I suppose I'll just have to transition to those, or read it online.
I'm still rather new to manga and trying to read from as many different series as I can. I chose KINGDOM HEARTS II, because it seems to be a popular one with boys. I couldn't find volume 1, so I started with volume 2. Unlike some other series, there wasn't a short summary of what has happened so far, so I had to jump right in the action. Yes, I was a bit confused, but was able to figure some of it out, but really have more questions than answers. There's lots of action with suspense building towards a battle between Sora and the good guys and Malificent and the "heartless." I think fans of the video game will probably love this series, as they are more likely to understand the story. I rate it a 'C'.
It's the end for Roxas as he starts to figure out little by little that he doesn't exist. As he starts to disappear, his friends don't remember anything about him. At one point, Namine gives Roxas hints about his other self Sora, who appears in his dream. As Roxas starts to remember different things that Sora had done before, the closer Sora awakens. Axel, a member from organization XIII tries to get Roxas back to the organization but Roxas doesn't remember so he is sent to eliminate him. With the power of the keyblade, Roxas defeats Axel and remembers that he had left the Organization. Then Roxas' summer vacation ends as Sora awakens and Sora's adventure defeating heartless begins with two great companions Donald Duck and Goofy.
I absolutely love the video game for this book and absolutely love the artwork for the manga series, it's drawn stupendously and I love how the plot of the manga doesn't stray from the original story but the author adds their own interpretation to make it a funnier situation, I love that especially because the original video game is just a little to serious, so adding a hint of hilarity just makes it a more enjoyable thing to read, overall i would recommend this book to anyone that likes kingdom hearts or just book renditions of video games instead of actually playing it.
Oh my God I am cry. I can't even with Roxas. It was just as sad here as in the game and I loved every beautiful minute. They changed things too. We didn't go the the Seven Wonders and stuff with Axel was different as well. I don't quite know how to feel about it but I suppose it didn't harm the story so I'll deal. Sora is back in full swing now and we will start getting Disney worlds in the next volume. Overall, powerful, funny, and heartbreaking. I loved this volume and I'm excited to keep reading.

This book goes along the story line of an old video game I used to play. About Sora (main Character) along with dysney character Donald and Goofy to stop the evil from taking over the world. This book is where Roxas (Sora in an alternate universe) hangs out with his friends until the leaders of a different evil organisation try to capture him. Then Sora awakes from a sleeping chamber and starts his adventure to save the world.
Great story, and cute art. It is good all around, until you realize they haven't made another volume and your left in the corner with only the video game to keep you company, but the manga has better jokes than the video game(which are mostly ones that make no sense).
Only two more days of summer left and both Roxas and his friends of spending time with each other comes to an end. But with all the things that has been going on over the past few days, Roxas continue to think of what the girl, Namine, meant about him never to exist. So many things are still unsolved as Roxas come to the whole reason he wasn't suppose to exist.
This manga begins as Roxas begins to realize the truth about himself. He sees another boy constantly but has no idea who he is. Little by little Roxas begins to lose a part of himself as Sora is getting ready to awaken. Roxas is also reunited with his old friend Axel although he doesn't recognize him. By the end of the manga, Sora's journey has begun.
The continuation of Sora's journey is truly captivating. Roxas' story has ended, and now Sora is awake from his year long slumber and regaining his memory. They meet up in Hollow Bastion to update on the events of the worlds everywhere.
Dialogue was great. Nice art to go along. It cuts short though, right when it was about to get good. I like how they defined what a nobody and a heartless is. I understand that it is not finished, but they could've extended this a little bit more.
