Eighteen-year-old Charlotte (Jinx), fights her past to chase her dream of becoming an Elite Nordic Airre pilot, yet her rebellious attitude hinders her hard-earned lead status. Overcoming a string of life-altering events and the unwanted advances of a smooth talking pilot, is one thing, evading death at the hands of two comrades is another.

When Jinx comes face-to-face with an unlikely ally, she is forced to trust him in order to escape the clutches of those who want to silence her. Can a once broken girl transform her past into an iron will, or will she ultimately crumble under the destruction?

DNF. Stopped at chapter 7. Couldn’t finish or get into it. It was a bit cheesy for me and underdeveloped.

I might give it another try at another time.

Oh my. I just got the book yesterday. I couldn't wait to get home and start reading. I read about half yesterday and the rest this morning. It was the first thing I picked up when I woke up. So good. It just about killed me when it ended and the cute little dedications I found in the book made me want to cry. I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ALREADY. So excited I can't contain myself.

Love this book to pieces! I believe this is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Action, mystery, suspense, twists and turns, deception, swoony moments, slow budding romance, and unconditional love. Need I say more?

For the last several years my reading has been pretty limited. Job, family and other interests have kept me reading primarily technical books, documents and the odd Dan Brown - Robert Langdon novel when one shows up. When I picked up my first non-Dan Brown fiction novel, Terrapin, in probably 3-4 years I had to adjust back to fiction/fantasy/romance and initially struggled with the story as it developed slower than I was used to. Thankfully it didn't take too long to pick up. About 5 chapters in things started to get pretty interesting and by the end of the book I was hooked on the Nordic Airre jet!

A.C. Troyer developed this wonderful and mysterious world in her brain where the orphan Jinx, a Nordic Pilot finds herself in danger for no apparent reason. After somehow surviving the assassination attempt she must figure out how to manage being on her own in a completely different location so she can survive and hopefully, one day, confront her attackers and get on with her life. Before she can do that she must address her past as an orphan...and now all of us readers have to wait to find out how Jinx fairs.

This is one of the more intense cliffhangers I've left a book with. So many questions I can't wait to be answered in book 2 which hopefully will come out in 2018 sometime!

I would definitely recommend picking this one up so you too can dip your toes in the Rouche with Jinx and follow along as she tries to stay alive.

Devoured this book about a tough young pilot with some anger issues. I enjoyed the protag's tenacity, the creativity of the imagined world of the Rouche, and the relationship between Jinx and Ghost. I'm hoping for a sequel!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU ALL TO READ THIS!! IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAVE JUMPED BACK INTO FANTASY BOOKS BUT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE! IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I DON'T LIKE TO GIVE THE BOOK AWAY I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT IT IS A BOOK YOU WON'T WANT TO PUT DOWN. THE WRITING FLOWS AND THERE ARE CONSTANT SURPRISES AND TWISTS THAT YOU DIDN'T SEE COMING. THE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE FULL AND LIFE LIKE. YOU CAN RELATE AND AT THE END WE ALL WANT A TALL, DARK AND HANDSOME WITH DIMPLES AND A SMIRK! I CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 2-1000.

18-yo Charlotte (Jinx) dreams of becoming an Elite Nordic Airre pilot. When her plane is shot down, Jinx comes face-to-face with an unlikely ally, the smooth talking Grady. She's forced to trust him in order to escape from those who want to silence her. On her adventure on an island, it's revealed to her that it's really a secret world.

I was thoroughly surprised that I ended up really liking Jinx and Grady, the plot was really unique and I loved the author's writing style. Of course this being the first in the series, I will read the follow on b/c I must know what happens next!

This definitely read like the authors first book. It was choppy and there was absolutely no world building. The insta-love was a little much. I think better editing, more back story and if it just flowed better and made more sense than it could have been a better reading experience. So I finished the story regardless that's why it's 3 stars. I'm not sure if I'll read the next book but it ended in a cliff hanger so I'm a little curious.

When I first read Terrapin in it's early days, I couldn't put it down. This time around was exactly the same! So excited for the next book!
