I have a huge love for Baseball romances, and it's not just because I get to imagine those baseball pants. This book is every reason why I love this genre so much and these characters are exactly what I always look for when I pick up a book.
Cooper wasn't your typical Hero that we get in Sports romances. You know the one, the player that has women throwing themselves at him at ever turn. Instead he was a really down to earth guy and I loved seeing him relate to Ainsley so well. These two had a tough time in life but their pain was lessened when they were together, which was amazing to get to see.
This story actually surprised me with how deep into emotions it got but I loved that it made me feel so strongly for these characters. This is definitely a book I would recommend, not only for sports romance lovers, but for all lovers of a brilliant romance with a swoon worthy Hero.

I really enjoyed reading Home Run by Heidi McLaughlin.
From the first few pages I knew this was going to be my kind of read.
The writing is well done, the storyline held my interest throughout the book and I found myself connecting with both lead characters.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Cooper and Ainsley, they had great chemistry and both were likable/entertaining characters.
I'm a big fan of sports romances and Home Run turned out to be a great read.
Looking forward to reading more from this talented author.

Drama off and on the field…
This is my first venture on the baseball field with The Boys of Summer and Cooper and Ainsley knew how to turn on the emotional heat. Both were at turning points in their life and found each other at the best/worst time they could. There days were chock-a-block full of so much, but the attraction they felt for each other was something neither could resist…
I love this author’s easy writing style and ability to connect me with her characters. When I first picked up this story I admit it didn’t seem to hold my attention which surprised me. I put it down for awhile and when I went back to it, the words spoke to me the way I hoped. Yeah, sometimes it is ‘just me, not you’…
I felt Ainsley’s pain and Cooper’s indecision mar the happiness they were finding with each other. It wasn’t a home run right off the bat, there was a lot of drama from them both that aided and hindered their need to be together. Not over the top drama llama’s but certainly a lot for fledgling love to weather. Thank goodness, at the end of the day, they were grounded enough to deal with it all and figure out what was important…
A solid first outing and has me wanting to find more of those Summer Boys. ~Diane, 4 stars

Home Run was just a “triple” for me until things started really picking up and the truth finally came out. I adored Ainsley in the beginning; in the middle I was getting a little perturbed with her; in the end, it all came together and I loved her again. As for Cooper, it may have taken him a bit but he finally figured out what being a team player and having someone to love meant.
Ainsley had her issues. Issues with men. Issues with her home life. Her one constant is her job and she loves where she works. She’s sworn off all athletes and refuses to fall into the rut so many of the woman in town fall into. She will not fall for some baseball player who is going to love her and leave her right after Spring Training. But, there is something about Cooper. He doesn’t come off as a “player”, he seems sincere and caring and … he’s leaving. When she finally does give him the time of day, her life falls apart and everything that she was afraid of happening, happens.
Cooper has lived his life for baseball since he was a little boy. It was just him and his father growing up and he’s on the brink of living his dreams. One person is standing in his way and it’s up to him to show the bosses who would be the better option. He has a hard road ahead of him … especially when his father shows up … especially when he starts falling in love with Ainsley. His one saving grace turns out to be his nemesis. He’ll learn the words “team player”. He’ll learn the word “trust”. He’ll also learn what it’s like to lose the one person who completed him.
Home Run was filled with love, lies and mystery. Heidi McLaughlin brought forth the true feelings of what a Rookie has to be going through to earn his place on the team. She handled love and loss with grace. She added some twists and turns that were unexpected. She gave us complete characters with true emotions and feelings. She wrote a beautiful story that showed us the true meaning of believe, trust and love.

I am really disappointed by this book.
I get it, a sports hero needs to be arrogant, they need confidence or they will never get anywhere. But, there is also a fine line for me where the arrogance turns into being a jerk...and when you tell off a 3rd grader for saying he doesn't think you will be in the startingline up...at a charity event, well, that line is crossed for me. In a big way. This wasn't the first thing Cooper ssaid that rubbed me the wrong way, but it was my final straw on this guy.
I can't read a book about a hero I can't stand and want him to get the girl. She deserves better. Maybe he matures...I would think he would have to...but I am not going to hang around to find out.

OUT OF THE PARK, LOVED THIS!
I'm not a baseball fan, it's not something that's big in my country but it didn't matter, the characters and the plot was what gripped me.
Ainsley and Cooper first meet when he is doing a fan tour at the zoo with children, something Ainsley has organised being a worker at the Zoo.
Cooper is new to the team, a rookie, his whole life has lead up to playing in the big leagues and with an overbearing father the last thing he needs is a relationship but it's instant attraction for both of them.
There's hindrances and opposition along Ainsley and Coopers journey to a hea. Home run is definitely not a smooth hit and run there's plenty of obstacles in the way making this a page turner of a read, I was completely rooting for this couple to find a way, they are great characters, and Cooper is definitely a swoon worthy BBF.
I loved the news and blogger parts in between chapters, brilliant idea.
Home Run is compelling, steady paced, told in dual pov's and an ideal weekend relax and get immersed kind of read that will have you swooning,anxious and happy throughout the journey to the final home plate. There's also a little big of hotness thrown in a well balanced read.
Looking forward to Travis Kidd's book, that guy has a wicked sense of humour and I can't wait for his story.

4 Stars - 3 Flames
This is WAAAAAAAAY too cute for words. After reading the first in this series, I was a little worried about continuing it. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the first one, but I found it predictable which didn't pull me in as much as I hoped for. But this one? It was just right. Was there still some predictability in it? Of course, but it wasn't blatant like the first and I found myself fully engulfed in this one. I mean, I finished it in a day!
Cooper is the new rookie for the Renegades. But he's not the youngest player, nor is he the least experienced. In fact, he finds himself having to fight for a position he thought he already had but finds out that the player he's supposed to replace ISN'T retiring after all. Cooper can't seem to get his head fully in to the game because he's got other things on his mind. Between being completely enamored with the girl from the local zoo, trying to find a "place" on the team and his father all over his performance (or lack thereof), Cooper just can't get his career under control.
Ainsley is a zookeeper. Well, she was until her mom became very sick with cancer. Now she runs the front office and is in charge of the media and field trip day involving the Renegades. Dating athletes isn't anything new to the local girls in town, but Ainsley has sworn off any athlete after a disastrous relationship turned sour. So when Cooper shows up, courts her properly and gets under her armor, the temptation is just too much. But of course that's not the end of the story. Ainsley's mom has always stirred her away from athletes. Why? Good question. It's a major theme in this story and one that adds to the shocking conclusion.
Like I stated before. I was pleasantly surprised by this second book of the series. I felt more engaged with the characters (both main and secondary). I enjoyed the Blog more this time around (probably because it didn't involve a main character). But more importantly, the ending was such a beautiful HEA that it left me feeling good. And I'm actually wondering who's next. Although I'm crossing my fingers for one loud mouth toddler (hint hint).
Is this a stand alone? I would say that you could absolutely skip the first one and read this without missing anything. But in all honesty, you shouldn't. I think you'd actually follow along better if you did read it.

I first came across The Boys of Summer series when I read an excerpt for the third book, GRAND SLAM, which won't be out until May, but once that caught my interest, I knew I had to go and read the other two books! I came across the opportunity to join the blog tour for HOME RUN and I jumped at the chance! I'm so glad that I did!
I really, really loved Cooper, and I thought that his relationship with Ainsley was adorable! I did think that it could've been flushed out a little better. For example, we were told that they were talking on the phone late at night a bunch of times rather than getting to experience it firsthand, and I felt like Cooper's attitude was a bit flip-floppy at a couple of moments in the book, but other than that, I really enjoyed HOME RUN! I loved their chemistry, and I really loved the moments when they talked and weren't afraid to share their feelings with each other. The romance itself was adorable, and it had a great HEA!
Now I can't wait to go back and read the first book in the series, THIRD BASE, featuring Ethan and Daisy!! I'm sure their story will be just as, if not even more, adorable than HOME RUN was! Overall, I thought that this was a very solid romance. The characters were pretty well developed, their chemistry was definitely there and very steamy, and all in all, I was extremely happy with how this story turned out! I'd definitely recommend HOME RUN and the rest of The Boys of Summer series to contemporary romance fans, especially if you've got a soft spot for sports romances like I do!

A rookie baseball player and a beautiful zoo keeper start dating during spring training. The young couple hit a few fouls during their relationship. The newbie center fielder makes a rookie move and forgets to put on a "batting glove" and causes a life-changing play. Whoops. It's pretty much a given that if you write a sports romance, I'm gonna jump at the opportunity to read it. I love them. They are absolutely my jam. Home Run hit all the marks for me. It was funny AND fun to read. It was sexy and heartwarming. And best of all it had all kinds of #feels :) I am highly impressed with my first experience with Heidi McLaughlin and can't wait to go back and read the first in this series, Third Base!

Really deep and amazing story.. my heart broke at times reading this amazing book.. I was rooting for the characters since page 1, but the book definitely has twists and turns that you will not see them coming! I can't wait for the next book of the series!

I'm not a huge baseball fan, so when I read a baseball romance I need it to grab me right away. Unfortunately, Aisley and Cooper didn't connect with me.

Introduction
Home Run is the second book in the "Boys of Summer" series by this author. This is my very FIRST book from this author and color me impressed because I fell so hard for this one. I absolutely adored this book so much! It wasn't quite a five star, but it got a little close to it. Also, as an audiobook it felt so atmospheric for Baseball, just from the songs and some sound effects, it just really was so sport focused and I love that. Too many sport romances just don't focus on the sport itself enough. And there is so much character growth in this one that was so admirable. And the romance was so different than I was expecting, a bit of drama, but still felt so well balanced as a overall story.

Cooper Bailey has a good shot of playing in the Major Leagues and has the potential to make it to the big boys club in the sport. He is not a player and never been in a relationship since he decided to go pro. He takes his sport very seriously and doesn't want the distraction. My Outlook
Home Run was one of those impulsive pick up type of reads. I will be honest, I grabbed it up because of the cover...yep that was it. lol But I am so glad that I took a chance on this one, because it was just right and I breezed so quickly through it and for a audiobook, I was completely hooked into it. I am not sure if it was the story itself or the narration, but it was so well done. I did love the romance itself for the most part. I found it so endearing and sexy and kinda sweet and so loveable. The characters were highly relatable and I felt for both of them. I didn't understand the heroine's motivations at times but I understood she was going through some self reflection and growth that needed to happen for her. I really adored Cooper as a character. Love how driven he is, and not the typical sport player and not all about sleeping around. He was so focused on his sport and really does the work to make his dream come true. Love that we saw that side of the sport, what it takes to be a pro player. It delivered in so many elements, from the emotion to the depths of reflection was so heartfelt.

I found Home Run to be a stunning complex romance that delivered in all the ways and came through to be a romance worthy enough of the big leagues...

Home Run is the second book of the baseball series. Cooper is a rookie for the Renegades. After putting off baseball to pursue a college degree, he finally got his chance to play in the major leagues. His goal is to focus on the summer training and prove himself to the team. While with the team volunteering at the local zoo he met Ainsley and there is something about her that caught his attention immediately. Ainsley’s love is with the animals. Aside from working at the zoo, Ainsley spends her time taking care of her sick mother. Ainsley can’t afford any distraction especially a hot athlete that is just here for the summer. But there is something about Cooper’s smile that captures her heart too. With the stress looming over Cooper and Ainsley’s past, they both need to put each other first in order to find happiness.
I like Ainsley - she is beautiful, loving, and has a big heart. I’ve got to be honest though, I was a bit frustrated with Ainsley because she kept pushing him away and did not give Cooper a chance to prove himself. Once Cooper pulled away she then runs after him. I thought their timing was a bit off. I also did not understand why her mother kept a secret that big from her only daughter for so long. I love Cooper though. He is patient, works hard and is a nice guy. Although, I also want to whack in him in the head for letting his father influence his decision too much. I thought the chemistry between Cooper and Ainsley was pretty sexy and sensual - You can feel the attraction sizzling from the beginning. I like how the story developed – how the relationship is slow at first, with Cooper being the perfect gentleman, then turns into something hot and fierce I also love the beautiful ending 20% of the book – Ainsley comes around and Cooper is as sweet as ever as they build a family and a life together.
Overall Home Run was a sweet sport romance, low on drama, just enough baseball talk (I don’t understand baseball so that’s perfect), hilarious interactions between Cooper’s teammates, and of course the explosive sexy romance.

I couldn't wait to read Home Run as I had previously read the first book in The Boys Of Summer series.
Cooper Bailey is the new rookie baseball player for the Boston Renagades, he lives and breathes baseball this is all he's ever ever wanted to do, he set his dreams and goals high to prove to others especially his father that he can be successful and nothing will get in his way that is until he meets Ainsley Burke at the zoo during a volunteering day where she works.
Ainsley Burke has been warned by her mother never to date athletes, her mother has past experience, but when the two meet the attraction is extremely noticeable between the two, can Ainsley push the warnings from her mother to the back of her mind?
Cooper is persistent in his pursuit to woo Ainsley but after several knock backs Ainsley finds herself backing down but when her mother's health takes a turn for the worst Ainsley starts to push Cooper away but could a twist of fate turn things around for the couple?
I really enjoyed reading Home Run, the writing as usual is brilliant, characters are easily likeable especially Cooper!!!

A sports romance that is packed with baseball action that keeps you on the edge of your seat at times. The author's ability to bring the action on the page to life through vivid imagery is a testament to her storytelling genius. There was also instances of hilarity than were pitch (no pun intended) perfect...demonstrating just how well Ms McLaughlin layers the drama with the light hearted elements.
The chemistry between Cooper and Ainsley is blistering, drawing you in from the onset...Cooper the perfect book boyfriend, Ainsley a woman who has a giant heart and doesn't play games...for both of them, what you see is what you get. That was a refreshing change with no hidden agendas that take away from the meat of the story.
The secondary characters were larger than life as well. Travis was quite the character, his one liners were in a class of their own...I can't wait for his story. Then there's Shea, that little girl deserves a story of her own.

I liked Cooper he wasn't shy, "looking down at my crotch, I smirk. “I think the evidence speaks for itself.” I loved Cooper and Ainsley, especially when they were all playful, “besides, Twenty-Five, I happen to enjoy watching you in your uniform.” I’ve had many nicknames throughout my years, but twenty-five is by far my favorite. She doesn’t call me it often, but when she does, it’s an instant hard-on for me." I loved this book.

Home Run is the second book in the Boys of Summer series and can be read as a standalone. This is a sports romance and our hero is a rookie for the Boston Renegades. While Cooper Bailey is a rookie, he didn’t draft straight from college, but got his degree first so that he had something to fall back on. Being an older rookie presents a few problems but he is working hard to prove his worth and make himself a better player.
Cooper is extremely focused and motivated, baseball has been his life and he is adamant that he isn’t going to mess it up now. No drinking, no parties, no women are his current motto. Cooper throws himself 110% into practice and trying to take the starting spot from a veteran who was supposed to be retiring. That retirement never happened and now he has to prove himself even more. The pressure is real as is the constant pressure he receives from his father. His life is one huge ball of pressure.
Ainsley Burke is a zoo keeper in Florida who has a mountain of personal problems and is having to put her life on hold to care for her sick mother. Ainsley is devoted to the animals and has a heart of gold. Between work and her mother, she is spreading herself extremely thin but has a best friend that is always there for her.
The Boston Renegades are in Florida for spring training, when the Renegades go to the zoo for a press opportunity with local under privileged kids. Cooper and Ainsley’s paths cross for the first time and both are immediately smitten. However, Ainsley has her priorities and Cooper isn’t one of them.
Ainsley makes Cooper work for it, something that is not the norm for baseball players, but Cooper is far from the norm. Ainsley is constantly battling with her thoughts because now is not the right time and also Cooper would not be around anyways once he heads back to Boston. It also doesn’t hurt that she has been burned before and her mother has made her swear of athletes for life. Cooper has to battle his own thoughts too, he doesn’t need any distractions either, he is there to play ball, not to fall in love.
I loved the chase in this book, the little texts, the conversations, the back and forth was great to read. The fact that these two did take time to get to know each other first was refreshing as well as believable. Both battle themselves as well as each other and this really gave their story merit as well as creating some swoon worthy moments.
One twist I thought was a little convenient even though the intimation was always there and I did feel that keeping this from Ainsley was rather selfish on her mum’s part. However, the struggles that these two go through were all relatable and actually made this story “real.” The chemistry between these two was always apparent and there was just enough angst to keep the story entertaining while not being too gut wrenching. The banter between team mates was hilarious and really gave an insight into locker room talk. Loved the camaraderie between team mates and how a team is more than a collective group of athletes, but a family. This was a cute read and I will definitely be reading more about this band of merry men.

Home Run is an emotional, sexy, funny and beautiful story that hit me in unexpected ways. One minute I was laughing and the next, reaching for tissues because I was bawling my eyes out. Cooper is a rookie baseball player who was just called up to the major leagues. While he is confident in his abilities, he's a pretty humble guy and isn't like most cocky athletes who use their fame to sleep around and garner perks everywhere. He's more of the awkward, shy guy and that translates into a character who is multi-dimensional. Ainsley has a heart of gold and is dealing with some very heavy emotional situations at home. When she takes a chance on Cooper, their relationship heats up and the sparks fly. Together, they have so much chemistry and truly are perfect for one another. Their relationship is far from roses and sunshine though. There is plenty of conflict and some major curveballs (natch) which the reader won't see coming but a beautiful ending that will make readers swoon is the payoff and it's totally worth it!
While this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I did not read Third Base (Book 1) but plan to do so now since there are many secondary characters in Home Run that are standouts and I need to read more about them! These characters helped round out the story and give it even more character. Home Run includes the perfect amount of baseball for those who love the sport but for those who don't, it's not overwhelming---it's easy to understand and follow along. Overall, it's a beautiful sports love story and Cooper is sure to be your next book boyfriend! McLaughlin really hit it out of the park with this book so be sure to grab it but don't forget the tissues which you will surely need. 5 Stars

When she takes a chance on Cooper, their relationship heats up and the sparks fly. Together, they have so much chemistry and truly are perfect for one another. Their relationship is far from roses and sunshine though. There is plenty of conflict and some major curveballs (natch) which the reader won't see coming but a beautiful ending that will make readers swoon is the payoff and it's totally worth it!
While this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I did not read Third Base (Book 1) but plan to do so now since there are many secondary characters in Home Run that are standouts and I need to read more about them! These characters helped round out the story and give it even more character. Home Run includes the perfect amount of baseball for those who love the sport but for those who don't, it's not overwhelming---it's easy to understand and follow along. Overall, it's a beautiful sports love story and Cooper is sure to be your next book boyfriend! McLaughlin really hit it out of the park with this book so be sure to grab it but don't forget the tissues which you will surely need. 5 Stars

Heidi McLaughlin writes the type of books that keep me coming back for more. HOME RUN, the newest book of the Boys of Summer series, is a real page-turner. You don't have to be a baseball fan to be a fan of this story. I loved it.
It was fun to read Cooper's efforts to woo Ainsley. It all happened at a friendly pace that she didn't even know it was happening and it made it easy to fall for his character too. He is attentive and considerate - just the kind of good guy that I like to read. But, of course, not everything can be perfect. The pressures of baseball and Ainsley's own real-life pressures make their connection difficult to keep intact. But it is the ups and downs, the angst and the struggles, and then the LOVE that brings them back together that makes HOME RUN an enjoyable read.
I loved the return of the alternating perspectives and knowing the thoughts of Cooper and Ainsley. I just adored Ainsley and her interactions with her best friend Stella. I enjoy reading the scenes between the best friends just as much as the scenes between of the romantic characters because I get to see more of Ainsley's personality.
I loved the return of the BoRe Blogger and getting a recap of the players, the game, and all of the dirty details told through the Gossip Wire. It was a fun way to transition the chapters and move the story along all while letting us know what is going on with the minor characters.
I was happy to read more about Ethan and Daisy from THIRD BASE and it made me miss them enough that I may even go back and read their story. And then there is Travis Kidd, this guy needs his own comedy show, or his own book, at least.
HOME RUN is a wonderful continuation of the Boys of Summer Series and I'm excited to read more books about the men of the Boston Renegades.

We pick back up with the Renegades in Spring Training. Rookie Cooper Bailey is all business. That is until he's taken by the loveliness of zoo front office manager Ainsley Burke.
The build up and cat and mouse chase of the athlete and the object of his desire was really fast paced and kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. It was sweet and loving. They made a great couple and were spending time to get to know each other.
Ainsley's world gets turned upside down. I have to say that I really did not like the turns that both main characters took in being hurtful to each other as a defense mechanism. It really slowed the pace and hurt the momentum of the relationship. By 75 percent of the book they were practically apart more than they were together.
Events lead up to a reunion that was tense to start. I feel like they jumped back into a loving relationship way too quickly. I missed the build up and romantic feel to the end. It felt too rushed. Overall the book was an ok read. There was such a great start to the book that I feel confident at giving it 3-3.5 stars. The middle of the story really brought it down for me.
I really loved the first book in this series and I will definitely check out the next book.

I love a good sports romance and what really impressed me with this one was how much of the knowledge of the game was on display, it was very entertaining to me! Heidi sure knows baseball and it was very insightful and well explained. And of course she knows how to write another book boyfriend I am in love with! Oh Cooper, Cooper, Cooper, the sweet way you tried to get a date with Ainsley was smooth! But with Cooper needing to concentrate on his rookie year and the demands of it all and from his father, and Ainsley needing to concentrate on taking care of her mom who always warns her against dating athletes, will these two make time for their growing feelings? You couldn't help but root for these two. I also loved bestie Stella and the ever entertaining Travis Kidd. He provided a lot of laughs and one liners amongst some emotional moments that tugged at my heart and made me shed some tears. I am loving this series and I can't wait for more!

Heidi knock it out of the park again. This series just gets better and better. I love COOPER BAILEY. Cooper and Ainsley are so perfect for each other. Their connection is instant but Ainsley won't date another athlete since she was hurt before, but Cooper won't give up on her. Once Ainsley finally gives in they can't stay away from each other. But when a tragedy tears them apart, they both regret ending it like they did. They both think about each other and what could have been. With secrets coming to light will it bring them closer together or more further apart. Will Cooper & Ainsley reunite or will they strikeout? I love all the characters in this series and you can't help but laugh at the craziness that comes out of Travis Kidd's mouth. Once you start reading you will not be able to stop. Can't wait to read Travis's book next.

Another great read from Heidi McLaughlin.
Loved Cooper. even when I wanted to knock some sense in to him. Ainsley is a lovely character and together they are really sweet.
There was a few moments in this one that I wanted more, a few scenes that we are told happen, but we don't actually get to read. Thing I think would have made great additions to the book.
I've still given this 5 stars though, and that's because Heidi is a master at getting me to feel EVERYTHING while reading her books. I liked Cooper, then loved him, I actually disliked him for a minute, then I finally fell head over heels for him.
I laughed, cried and swooned.
If you like sports romance then you will love the Boston Renegades.
