Alice was a bit awkward socially, very studious, focused on completing her education and not much of a talker. It was because of those things and the belief by others that she was a snob, others nicknamed her "the ice queen". For years, she secretly adored her neighbor Damon, but never had the courage to talk to him and express how she felt. One evening, her mom tells her that she has been dating someone for several months and wants to introduce her to him and his son. When mom's mysterious beau shows up for their holiday dinner with his son in tow, it is none other than the neighbor that she has been crushing on(Damon). Things go awry from that point on. The cruel thing that Damon did to her while he was at her house for Christmas dinner is not spoken of to either parent. The parents wed and Damon and Alice stay far away from each other, intentionally avoiding each other until a Christmas holiday spent in London four years later. I liked the story but it lacked a bit of reasoning. I was a bit thrown off by what Damon did to Alice because I did not see a reason for it. For someone that rarely ever spoke to Alice, I couldn't understand why he would do such a mean thing and then profess his love for her years later didn't mesh.

Steamy stepbrother second-chance romance

Alice has some painfully awkward moments in this steamy stepbrother romance. You really have to feel for her and how her shyness and insecurity is interpreted as cold and snobby. She secretly pines for her hot neighbor (and soon-to-be stepbrother) Damon, and just when she thinks she’s getting her chance with him…things go badly. Very badly. Damon makes her the butt of a cruel joke that leaves her with lasting psychological marks.

While this story is an enjoyable romance that tugs at the heartstrings, some of the details and story lines don’t quite fit. Their behavior doesn’t suit their ages. Damon is 22 when he “pranks’ 20-year-old Alice. All it took was that one conversation, and neither can move on with their lives? Three years later, Cassie is still a virgin and Damon’s a cad who is still fixated on her. Everything would make more sense if ending happened years earlier.

It’s still a good book that gives you an emotional ride with a satisfying ending. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love stepbrother romances but this book was choppy and didn't run smoothly. In highschool, Alice was called the ice queen. When the boy she's had a crush on forever, Damon, comes to dinner with his father, a man her mother is dating, Alice is elated and nervous. When Damon kisses her in the hallway, she's in heaven. When he takes an unexpected photo of her half undressed and sends it to his friends with the tag "ice queen", she's heartbroken and furious. Now three years later, they're together at Christmas and Alice brings home her fiance. Damon, realizes he wants more, and Alice goes along with it! UGH! The conversations between Alice and Damon were immature and didn't make sense for the characters. Damon professing his love for Alice despite what he did to her years ago. Just didn't flow well.

This is the first book by Stephanie Brother I have read and although it was an enjoyable read it just didn't work for me for some reason, I just didn't fall head over heels for Alice or Damon. It was nice and short and had some hot sex in but I really struggled to like Damon, the step brother and even towards the end of the book with Alice, I found him to be a bit blunt and harsh. I like to fall in love with my characters and think this makes the story all the more enjoyable but my lack of 'spark' for Damon didn't have me cheering him and Alice's relationship on!

That being said, it is a nice short step brother romance that is worth a read....you never know, Damon may be someone you fall for.....but it just didn't work for me.

I'm all for an alpha male but just because of that doesn't mean I enjoy am excessively weak heroine. Alicia hardly stood up for herself throughout all the story. Damon was the biggest ass towards her and she told him off only a couple of times. And couldn't resist him physically which was way too crazy for me. I did enjoy the story and especially the ending, because I was scared he'd let her down yet again, but I've found other books of Stephanie's which I've enjoyed much more. With this said, the scene where she falls off a roof was hilarious and sexy add hell!!

I didn’t finish this book as it was infuriating. The girl is a cheating doormat whose vagina functions as her brain; she has sex with her stepbrother (an asshole who humiliated her and shows her NO respect) while her fiancé is asleep. Despised both of them.

This is such a weirdly dull book. I don't know about anyone else, but when I make the choice to read a step-sibling romance, I want to be scandalised. But the fact that the two leads are step-siblings doesn't even factor into the plot all that much until the very end. Hell, the fact that the main character is cheating on her fiance is more scandalous. The ending is also so incredibly stupid and immediately put me off of reading the two bonus novellas from this author that my copy had.

The sex is decently written which is why this is getting a 3 instead of a 2, but you can do better.

Alice has had a crush on Damon since he moved in 7 years ago. She has never acted on. Now she's a sophomore in college. She is known to be the ice queen. She truly isn't. She just always put education before relationships. So when her mother invites her boyfriend over and his son, Alice tries to be nice until she realizes it's Damon. Damon was on a dare from his friends to heat up the ice queen, and he does. When he gets alkaline up in her room. He knows she a virgin. So he kisses her removes her dress tells her to close her eyes and when Alice hears his phone clicking, she knows he just played her. So when her mother marries Jared, Damon's father she tries her hardest to avoid seeing Damon. It works for three years till she's invited to visit her grandparents. Can Alice forgive and forget? Or is Damon still playing her. Great read.

Gross, got to say this one was to much for me, the step sibs is one thing but the cheating is a whole other, Alice is childish and spineless, when it comes to Damon, which is pathetic, cause he seems to just want to play with her emotions, and she is all in for it, I can't get behind a FMC that is unlikable. I stopped reading after she makes out with him the second time at her grandparents house, I thought she was supposed to be intelligent, another junk read.

4 taste me stars!! Deeply sexy stepbrother book!

I’ve read my fair share of step books, but this one has got to be one of my favorites to date!! It’s dirty sexy and Damon has one deliciously dirty mouth!!! Damon is an alpha male and horrifyingly sexy!! Alicia is his doormat and she acts like one throughout the story, which made the book interesting for me to read!! I don’t usually care for weak woman, but in this book she works! The chemistry is beyond sexy and you’ll be fanning yourself when the book is over!!

This book is over before you know it. I loved the storyline with the sweet, shy girl everyone thought was made of ice because she didn’t go out with anyone and pretty much kept to herself. Alice knew that she retreated into herself after her father died but no one really took the time to see what her reason was for being so aloof. There was a new guy that moved into her neighborhood however, and he definitely would have been able to chip away at that icy exterior. Alice’s mom has been dating a guy for a few months now and she wants Alice to meet him along with his son for a Christmas meal. Yeah, you knew it had to be that cute guy next door. Evidently mother like daughter!

Damon is given a dare to try to break the ice princess and report back to his buddies if he succeeds. Damon had no idea that Alice had been in love with him since the day he moved in the neighborhood. The trust that Alice gave to Damon by letting him be the first guy to ever kiss her at age 20 is thrown back in her face when Damon gets her dress off and then starts to take pictures back to the guys to show them that he was able to get somewhere with Alice. She is mortified to say the least and even though her mother is marrying his dad she wants nothing to do with Damon.

Three years later we have a family Christmas taking place in England at Alice’s grandparents. Alice is told that Damon will not be able to go so this helps Alice with her decision to bring her fiancé, Richard along. You just knew that Damon would have to be there after all. So is Damon still that same ass that threw away the love and trust of Alice and does Alice want anything to do with Damon ever again especially since she is now engaged herself? Oh, my do things heat up at this little family get together! It is so worth reading to see how or if Damon is ever able to redeem himself with Alice and will their parents be able to accept knowing all the things that have happened between Damon and Alice.

for a long time alice had an eye on her neighbor's son. but she never really talked to him or made any kind of contact. it was just a nod here and there when they passed at school. years passed and nothing really changed, that is until her mom started dating and invited her new man and his son for dinner. turns out her new manfriend is the man from next doors and her crush is his son damon.
alice isn't really comfortable with the whole situation and as fast as she can she makes herself scars. when damon comes to check up on her she starts to belief he may actually like her, that is until he betrays her in the worst way possible. from then on out she does her best to avoid him at all costs. their parents got married but even then she made effort to stay far away from him as possible. he had hurt her too much!
finally picking up her live and moving on with a new boyfriend, she's making twists and turns once more to avoid having to spend a family gathering with her nemesis.
but he outwitted her and was there anyway, what she didn't count on was her old crush coming back with a vengeance, him hunting her down every way he could, she least of all expected to give in.
a difficult situation only leads to more troubles as both can't stay away from each other.
how will they go from the moment they reconnected? how many hearts will be broken before all can move forward?

enjoyable read with second chances. drama, a lot of heartache and a lot of sizzles.

In this stepbrother romance our H is Damon and our h is Alicia. Damon is the hot neighbor and Alicia is called the Ice Queen in school. Alicia always had a crush on Damon but when her mother and Damon's father started dating, she was completely thrown for a loop. When Damon plays a horrible joke on Alicia, the crush she had for him turns to hate. Their parents get married while Damon and Alicia specifically avoid ever being around each other. 3 years later, Alicia and her fiancee are off to Europe to see her family. Alicia only agreed when she found out Damon would not be joining them. Of course, who shows up in Europe also? Damon. Alicia struggles with her hate for Damon and her crush that has never gone away. Plus, she has a fiancee.

This was a short, easy read from this author. I didn't rate it higher because I didn't fall in love with either character. The story was all from Alicia's POV and I wish I could have had some time in Damon's head. The part about falling from the tree had me laughing out loud.

OMG I can't believe how quickly this story was over. It was such a great read with some really sexy parts.
Alice is such a sweet girl who has lost her father and is still hurting after many years of dealing with this loss. She is totally attracted to Damon and can't seem to control herself around him. As much as I was hoping foe her to stand up to him and tell him off, I can totally understand the pull she feels for him.
Damon seems like such a jerk through this book, but in the end I have to say I finally like him. I think that he fought as hard as he could for being a typical guy where Alice was concerned. But finally he realized that he couldn't fight his feelings.
Will these two ever be able to work things out between them? Will she tell him how she really feels about him? Is this step-brother, step-sister thing going to be a problem for them to find happiness? You gotta grab this book and find out.

I have read many of Stephanie’s books. My only complaint is that they are not long enough. To me some of this story seemed rushed. This is the story of step siblings Damon & Alice. The story is told from Alice’s POV. Each of them are on their 20”s when their parents marry. Alice is a studious long lady who values grades and knowledge above any type of personal relationship. In school, she was known as the Ice Queen. Damon is the all around popular heart throb. Things do not go well when he and she officially meet for the first time. Then the story jumps 3 years and they are in Europe for a family vacation. The heat turns up when the two see each other despite her fiancee being present. It was a quick read just a little over 100 pages. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

She has always loved him......Damon Ryder. Ever since she was 13 years old. Is it just a crush or can you just know when you love someone. Alice dreams about Damon until one evening, years later he shatters her dreams with a prank now she hates him. Then to find out their parents are marrying!!! wow double whammy.
A story of Alice, having her childhood crush just that....crushed. Now how to face him. It was sad she never chose to tell him right away how she felt but that's life eh. I think Damon was genuinely sorry and did love her too and still does. But now Alice is engaged. As they say, the heart wants what the heart wants. A Taste of Love.
A really good short novella about Alice and Damon but sad for Richard. I think he realised he was on a losing battle.

This was a good short story. Taboo love, but you don't feel that way. Wished the story was longer.
Overview. Alice was a smart girl . Durning high school the kids made fun of her and called her the ice queen. She noticed new neighbors move in. She drooled over Damon, but he never really noticed her only what people called her. In college it was the same. One day her mom tells her that she met someone and has been dating Jared for 4 months. She freaked. So when they showed up at Christmas dinner, she tried to except Jared that was until she noticed his son was Damon her crush. Will the two ever find a middle ground? Will the two find love?

Her life begins changing when she discovers her mother and his dad are dating and planning to marry. This novella is a delightful reading experience as Alice & Damon sort out their feelings, fantasies and expectations for each other. One feels the various emotions Alice experiences as she deals with the warring feelings between her heart and her mind. Short, sweet and a total delight, I recommend this story to all romance lovers. Damon and Alice, where to start with the pair. Alice is considered an ice queen and Damon is the hot neighbor. Alice has had a crush on Damon for years, never attempting to act on her feelings.

This was a good story, while some seemed rushed. I love how Alice didn't back down from Damon. She put up a good fight. After avoiding each other for years, they are back in the same house.
My biggest disappointment is how it ended. I don't think it should have gone so easily for Damon.

I actually liked this story. Even though it is a novella, it did seem to finish pretty quickly. I loved the idea of the storyline and I think it would have been great turned into a full novel to let it develop a little more, as I felt there was quite a few big parts that were missing.
I was a little annoyed with Alice and how she always gave in a little too quickly at times with no fight at all and how she never really stood up for herself. But overall, it was a good read.

Alice was called the ice queen in high school but now it seams the title has followed her into college. Alice was was grieving the death of her father. Alice still lives at home with her mother. Jared and his son Damon move into the house next door to her and her mother. Alice's mother announces she is dating their neighbor next door to them and it's a shock. Alice has always had this crush on Damon ever since he moved in next door. This was a great read. It has suspenseful moments, with some drama in between. Enjoyed reading this “forbidden love” romance story. Alice was in love with Damon before he became her step-brother but when he plays a dirty trick on her that love turns to “hate”…well there’s a very thin line between love and hate, haha. Damon is…confused, lol or rather “taking forever to figure things out” but basically he’s a good guy just torn. Alice is a good girl, Damon is a bad boy…opposites attract!

Hot, Hot, Hot!!! What a great hot, sexy romance to enjoy and relax to after a crazy busy day!! This is my new favorite stepbrother bad boy romance. The story is not very long, but Damon's charm is not short at all, how can anyone not to fall for him. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who love a good stepbrother romance but doesn't have time for a long story, this is definitely a to go book.
