A Lantern in My Hand

Rate this book
In the shadow of my mind as I turn the pages of my memories, one page stands out clearer than all the rest. It is the walk to the barn and back, on those cold crisp winter mornings, with a lantern in my hand. Medicine Creek is a close second. The beauty of its trees, wandering across the prairie, it's multitude of bird species living there. The countless new discoveries, to be soaked up and stored away. All this is etched in my memories. I have knowledge of twelve generations of Grandfathers and Grandmothers as well as countless Grand Uncles and Grand Aunts. None of them left me a note, or any kind of written history. Because of this I was motivated to write Lantern In My Hand so that future generations might know the fun I had and what it was like to grow up in the 1930's on a farm two miles east of Vivian, South Dakota.
