With steady patience, Sir Branford teaches his young wife the pleasures to be found in their marital chambers. Though still unsure of herself, Alexandra begins to open herself to the possibilities and opportunities of her new life. As Branford expresses his desire to have more than a marriage of political contrivance, Alexandra finds facets of her new husband that promise protection, loyalty, and maybe even love.

As she gains a deeper understanding of her husband, Alexandra soon discovers there is more to being Sir Branford’s wife than sharing his bed. Queen Sunniva had told her to be “noble of heart,” and when the lives of aristocrats rest in Alexandra’s hands, she finally begins to understand the importance of her position in the court and in her husband’s life. Soon, Branford begins to appreciate how valuable a gift Alexandra is to his kingdom.

"You are so beautiful"
description

The Consummation is the third book in the Unexpected Circumstances Series and Sir Branford certainly delivered on every single promise he ever made to his sweet Lady Alexandra. As the emotional connection between the two continues to strengthen, the passion grows hotter with every passing moment!
description
Alexandra is finally learning her position and place in the castle. Through the safety of her husband's arms and the love and support of Ida and the Queen, her confidence is growing, and new and unique characteristics are beginning to blossom.

Although Branford has always felt like a master when it comes to the ways of women, Alexandra is like a delicate puzzle that he wants to solve without breaking. The dance is all about perseverance, and when it comes to Alexandra, he knows all the moves! He has all of the skills necessary in seducing his wife and teaching her the real beauty of pleasure!

description

"He moved slowly against me, pushing and pulling as his breath coated the skin of my neck with wet heat. Rocking steadily steadily, eyes closed, he continued to tell me, between his rapid, panting breaths, how good I felt and how much he wanted me."
Laced with passion, intrigue, complex characters, and witty dialogue, this series has become my new addiction. The dynamic between Alexandra and Branford is rich with tenderness and raw beauty. Although Branford is the "teacher", it is Alexandra who is teaching him goodness and love. The internal monologue of Lady Alexandra allows us to hear her voice and bear witness to her transformation. When Branford and Alexandra come together, it is beyond perfection. I have lavished in every moment of this love story, and I cannot wait for the fourth book to hit my Kindle!

Shay Savage is one of my go-to authors. She never fails to amaze me with her strong characters and the magical worlds she creates. This Historical Romance Series has been a true delight and EVERYONE needs to meet Branford now! Only a few more weeks until The Shortcoming will be available and I simply cannot wait!

The Consummation which is part three of this seven part series, really gives focus on the relationship that is now slowly building between Sir Brandford and Alexandra. What was initially thought of as a business arrangement is turning into so much more for our couple.

The trust that was so fragile for them at the beginning is starting to grow as the attraction between them flourishes. I like that we are starting to see a little more mettle from Alexandra in this one, I am not talking about a massive personality change or anything as she is still very unsure and nervous a lot of the time, but her back-bone is starting to show in certain situations, and her thirst for knowledge in all things to do with her new station in life, and in looking for ways to endear her more to Branford made some of their interactions pretty entertaining.

The sexy-times finally arrive between husband and wife as well, as I am sure you can guess from the title, and as usual the author didn’t disappoint. I like that we also saw a more softer side to Brandford too, you see that he is starting to realize that there is more to being a husband than bedding his wife and producing heirs, but have no fear the warrior with a heart of stone is still very much apparent as well.

"I am a violent and brutal man... It is in my nature, when I am angered it is how I have always resolved the issue at hand… I do not wish to be violent toward you again. I wish to trust you and have you trust me, but this is how I have always been. I want to be different toward you-for you."

The Shortcoming is due for release mid-July, going on the blurb it looks like things are about to get a bit more stressful for our couple with a potential war with the neighbouring kingdom of Hadebrand brewing.

As per the title, this is the book that we finally get to read the most anticipated sex scene. Phew! Finally after going through with the foreplay for the past two book, it finally happened and Branford definitely did not disappoint.

Apart from the sexy bits that gotten really hot between this newly wed couple, I'm glad to finally see some growth in Alexandra's character. Sometimes she still drives me crazy with her submission, but there are a few moments here that she starts growing some balls and show her assertion. Way to go, woman. I have some high hope for her.

The ending will intriguing though and left me questioning what is the direction of the remaining of the books. I mean both Branford and Alexandra are almost living the HEA, albeit not confessing their love yet. I'm quite a blood thirsting person as I hope to see Branford engaging in a real battle ala GOT style.

If the title of the book doesn’t tell you what the highlight of this 3rd book in this historical serial is, I don’t know what does. HAH! Not surprising, this is d hottest one so far. Alexandra is now at the stage where Branford was hoping she would be, at least as far as their bodies are concerned, teehee…

Alexandra still has ways to go as far as learning how to comport herself in her new life. Branford still has ways to go as far as understanding his wife better to support her and being a good husband. But what they’re getting better at, at least, is how to be the husband and wife they each need respectively in the bedroom.

Branford’s upbringing and status meant that the side he shows Alexandra is not necessarily what the public sees or needs to see, and that’s something Alexandra is slowly learning. There is a great responsibility resting on his shoulders after all. But when it’s just the 2 of them, it’s nice to see the soft side to Branford and Alexandra’s effect on him. Alexandra continues to fumble but it’s nice to see her very slowly get her backbone and trust Branford’s words…

For a change, this one ends on a real cliffie. Not quite a doozy, but still a cliffie, nonetheless. Book 4, where are you?:p

Branford and Alexandra’s story continues in part three of this seven part serial And by the name of this one, you can guess what is about to happen!

I am in love with this series. I love the steady release of the books, I love that I am reading something I never would have thought I really would enjoy and I can’t get enough of it. When Shay Savage starts to tell a story, you just can’t help but get caught up in her world.

I can’t wait to watch these two grow closer. To watch Alexandra become more comfortable in her role and for Branford to soften more towards her.

A must read serial of any romance reader!

Now we're talking!!!! This one had me fainting and gasping!! THIS. IS. HOW. YOU. DO. A. SEX. SCENE.

Branford is still making some mistakes. That man needs to get his temper under control!!!
"I am a violent and brutal man, Alexandra. It is in my nature. When I am angered, it is how I have always resolved the issue at hand."

Alexandra - bless her heart - she's slowly learning how to ask questions and learn what is expected of her. Can you blame her of being terrified of her husband after the rumors she's heard?? Branford may be an ass when it comes to his temper and communication skills - but he definitely knows how to seduce his wife!
"Soon," Branford whispered, "soon there will be more of me—pushing inside of you like this. I’ll take you so gently, my wife…I swear it…"

Swoon! Branford and Alexandra finally consummate their marriage and it is GLORIOUS and so worth the wait. He's not totally done with being an ass, but at least he's trying to be better and now he's providing O's as a form of apology! I accept!

"Don’t give up," Branford said as he slowly opened his eyes. "Don’t hate me for being such an idiot those first days."

I feel like he's saying this to her and to us as well.

Now they're off on a trip.... one that is the catalyst for so much pain in their lives.......

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

Yay!! The Consummation was everything I wanted and more!!

Branford and Alexandra are like two lost souls caught in the middle and who find themselves in the most intriguing of circumstances. Now, as the "official" wedding night finally approaches, it is now time to take the most crucial step in their growing relationship and see where the chips all fall.

Will this couple's growing feelings stand against growing tensions and hidden agendas?

Wah, that ending. I was like on happy pills and then BAAAAAMM!! I was like, "what?". Not exactly a cliffhanger, well, at least for me that is-- but also an intriguing ending to keep you holding on for what's to come!! Can't wait for bk4!!

As always, Ms Savage has displayed her God gifted talent and skills in this 3rd instalment of the Unexpected Circumstances series. It pains me to say that there's a high chance I will not be continuing with this series in the near future. Not because it was terrible or poorly written (quite the opposite really), but because I have recently come to the conclusion that medieval historical stories aren't really my thing.

Unlike most other boring historicals, this author didn't annoy me with too much wordy jargon that would usually put me in a coma however; it did take me ages to finish each book. I blame this on my own personal taste and inability to relate to that time period. Due to those reasons, I felt my mind wander off to other things at the best of times. Sigh... I can honestly and freely admit that I pushed myself to read this far because I couldn't give up without at least getting me some nookie! (I mean c'mon people, I had to read through two and a half books to get to the nookie dammit!)
description

Unfortunately, even the nookie wasn't enough to keep me continuing with this series but on a good note; by the end of book #3, I felt at peace with where the MC's were at in their blossoming, yet historically bland relationship and if one day, my contemporary brainwashed head develops a sudden desire for medieval historical romance stories; this will be the first one that will I pick up again!

All 3 books are told in the h's 1st person POV and I believe there will be 7 books in this series as a total. Highly recommended to those who love their slow burn, slow paced, historical romances with no cheating or ow (so far).

OK, so our hero really did have to work for it...but finally the deed is done. I still think he is an ass though. That temper of his - don't care what happened to him as a child, it doesn't make it alright to threaten to kill everyone the minute they make a minor mistake.
Maybe it's because I'm reading these books one after the other, but the heroine (who in the beginning i found sweet) is grating on me...she hasn't changed at all since the beginning of the series (and in a way its commendable that the author really is showing how a servant would think/act in those times...i get it she has been brought up thinking nobles are the be all and end all and she is nothing...but come on...there is so much of a doormat i can take (and dare i say it, she's kinda dumb at times too)...where is the growth?

While I wasn't sure what to expect (no pun intended) with this series, Shay Savage has surprised me at every turn with the story of Branford and Alexandra. This review may spoil the first two books in the series.

The title says is all, we finally get consummation of this marriage. Branford has been patient with his young wife, not only teaching her the ways of the palace, but the bedroom as well. After being banished to their rooms by the queen, they have actually grown closer. Alexandria and Branford may have been married in haste, however want the marriage to be forever.

I absolutely love this couple because they aren't perfect and don't pretend to be. Alexandria has a lot to learn and Branford usually doesn't realize what it is until it's too late. That brings the queen forward, which ends up with Branford in trouble. He has many sides, the doting husband, dutiful son, as well as lord of the castle. A guy that won't give it a second thought before chopping your head off for disobedience.

We learn right along with Alexandria just how much Branford has riding on his young shoulders and how the marriage has affected him as well. He has to learn what taking a wife really means, as his wife does about representing him properly.

The book is well written and Shay Savage delves more into the daily lives of Branford and Alexandria. Branford's sister Ida, Parnell, as well as the queen add to the cast of characters to move the story along. I was anxious for this book, but am a little apprehensive for the next one with the way things were left. Yikes.

The Consummation is a stomach-tingly, adorable tale of two people learning the pleasures one another can bring.

The book continues the story of Alexandra, a handmaiden who was chosen to be Sir Braford’s wife. After two books of her being shy around him, the two finally consummate the marriage, satisfying them and readers alike.

I’d like to say more than sex happens in this book, but it doesn’t really. As a book on its own, that sounds terrible. So everyone keep in mind that this is part 3 of a series, so this is just the part where the couple finally becomes intimate. And for a couple who has been mostly chaste with each other for two books, it’s expected that by the time they finally do it, they do it a lot. And let’s face it—This is a Shay Savage book. The sex is hot.

As for the characters: if anyone reading this has read my previous reviews, you’ll know that I have an issue with Alexandra. She’s very naïve and I find her very two-dimensional. In this one, now that they’ve consummated the marriage, she’s starting to be more open around him, which as a reader, is nice. She’s having more of a voice, more opinions, etc. The thing I find very annoying now is the “my…Branford” thing. For the first two books, out of habit, she would call him “my lord”. Growing up as a handmaid, it only makes sense for it to be a hard habit to break. So for book 1 it was normal. Book 2, I excused it. But now by this point in the series, she should know to just refer to him with his first name. No more timid almost “my lord”s. I actually wanna roll my eyes every time she says it now. Time to break the habit! Stop saying “my…Branford” in a timid voice, or at all! It’d be different if she said it once in a while, like in bed, as an endearment. “Oh, Branford…my Branford.” That’d be cute. But it’s the “my…(oops not supposed to call him my lord. Uh..) Branford (yeah, that’s what I’m supposed to say! Oh, look he’s happy with me now)”

As for Branford…I still really enjoy his character. As I’ve said in my other reviews, there’s more to him—I just know it—and I can’t wait to find out. There’s been no major character development for him in this part. Just now we were introduced to him sexually and I approve!

I quite enjoyed this book. It gave me all sorts of tingles and that’s a good thing. I’m anticipating book 4! Bring it on!

Slowly but surely, Branford and Alexandra are learning their way around the idea of being husband and wife – how they are supposed to act towards one another, what their duties are to each other, and what they hope to come to be after they consummate their marriage.

With Alexandra’s innocence and ignorance in the ways of Branford’s people and what it means to be married to a prince, she has actually allowed him to see who she truly is…the gem that she is due to her patience and kindness regardless of the mistreatment and malice that has been directed towards her, and this has also forced Branford to look at himself and how he treats those around him and work on not failing her again when it comes to how he handles any issues between them from here on out.

Branford rules with an iron fist; he expects absolute devotion, and when he doesn’t get it, his anger and brutality is unmatched. Branford has never had to watch how he acts around anyone because he’s never allowed anyone close enough to matter, but Alexandra does matter, and he needs to remember that and ensure that she feels safe around him and teach her the ways of his people and their beliefs so she feels like one of them, not a handmaid that he simply chose on a whim as a rebuke to a ruler he loathes.

True courting occurs throughout book 3, and both Branford and Alexandra learn more about who the other is and what they hope their future together looks like. It won’t be easy to turn a handmaid into a princess due to how Alexandra perceives her station to be and what she has been taught from her cruel employers, but it is possible as long as Branford uses a gentle hand to show her the way. It also won’t be easy to turn an angry tyrant into a caring gentleman, but with Alexandra’s guidance and devotion to him and his needs, it’s not impossible because look how much they both have already changed in the short amount of time that Alexandra has been at Castle Silverheim.

With the new situation that Alexandra finds herself in at the end of book 3, I can only imagine Branford’s reaction and the actions he takes, and I wonder if it will unravel all of the mending that has already occurred between them and what that means for Alexandra and her place by Branford’s side.

Dang, Branford, you are such an alpha a-hole but I am deeply in love you. I mean, I've been cooking, cleaning, and slaving away all day. Branford, take me away. My husband won't put up much of a fight, especially not after you lose your temper and kill him. No but seriously, I do love his character. He is the perfect balance of alpha sweet and bastard. I do so enjoy it.

So this time around we finally get some bow chicca bow bow. It is called The consummation after all. I feel like the sexual tension has been of the charts with these two since the very first time they met so I was definitely looking forward to them finally doing the deed. I do have to say that it was most definitely worth the wait. Smoking hot! I am so excited to see where this story goes next. Branford explosive temper and Alexandra's naive ways have me glued to this entire series. Loving this historical romance!

There's only a couple of things to mention about this third out of seven installment of Unexpected Circumstances.

Obviously, from the title, you should know what happens (lol). And it is done so perfectly it almost brought me to tears. As you know, Alexandra is far more than sexually innocent. She's innocent all around, but she starts to flourish in this installment. She gains some inner strength. And the coming together sexually was incredibly done. Honestly, it was just beautiful! We also get to see a softer (okay, a less stiff lol) side to Brandford because he is starting to see that his coming together with Alexandra is more than just a woman to give him an heir. You can feel it in the style of the prose that Shay uses. But don't let your guard down cuz i spy trouble ahead very very soon for our couple ..... stay tuned :)

In this third book in the Unexpected Circumstances series, Branford and Alexandra finally consummate their marriage. This settles Alexandra’s worries that Branford may send her away, at least for now. It also opens her up to a whole new world of experience.

As a handmaid to Princess Whitney, she had been made to believe that she wasn’t beautiful, and that being with a man would be painful and traumatic. Branford has made it his mission to prove her wrong, and boy, does he succeed. Alexandra learns that her husband has quite the appetite, and is happy to meet his needs.

Their honeymoon officially over, the newlyweds rejoin society and travel to a neighboring court where Branford participates in a tournament. He is injured in the joust and retreats into himself to stew in his anger. Unperturbed by his friend Sir Parnell’s warning Alexandra goes in search to find and care for him. He reluctantly lets her, learning that her gentle touches will sooth him and soften his volatile outburst.

I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop as they both learn more about what their new roles entail. Alexandra is still somewhat unsure of herself, but tries to open up more and become more confident. The author portrays this in a realistic way; the process isn’t rushed but also not stretched out unnecessarily.

The book ends with Alexandra finding a girl in the stables, obviously brutalized by several knights. Her protective instincts take over, and she realizes that as a lady now, she has the power to help this poor girl. How will this turn out?

Make sure to keep an eye out for the other installments!

4.5 / 5 stars
*I'm willing to bet I'm going to run out of stars, so we'll keep it to 4.5 until we get closer to the end!

Like I said before -- this just gets better and better! I love that Alexandra is becoming a little more comfortable in her skin. She's finding her voice and I absolutely love her in those moments. She's learning to stand up for herself -- proving to Branford that when he's in his volatile moods, he doesn't scare her... Much.

She still has quirks to get over, but I think her caring nature is something that won't ever be resolved, and quite frankly, shouldn't be. Additionally, I love that the author makes it a point to say that Alexandra is working on the head held high, that she's "one of them" now, aspects of her new life -- it's only been a matter of days/weeks between the first and this book; this is a gradual change and I feel that the author is taking it in a correct manner, at a correct pace.

Branford... Oh, how I love this man more and more. He has a temper, something that has come out more and more as he's learned to be more comfortable with Alexandra, but it's his shy looks like that really make him a desirable man.

This, my friends, is not a trilogy serial. We have more coming -- and Alexandra may have stumbled upon something that will make her wish she listened to her husband a bit more carefully.

“You are so different from every woman I have ever known...”

The Consummation picks up where The Seduction ended and this book... well whatever you've been waiting for since book 1 goes above and beyond steamy.

uc3

Branford and Alexandra finally consummate their marriage, from the reviews I've read it's been a highly anticipated moment but the wait made it sweeter and it paid off.

So far the series has built a solid connection with the characters - Shay Savage's writing and descriptions are truly outstanding especially with this historical genre - that the wait only made it so worthy in the end. Alexandra is still the shy and maybe over the top innocent girl, which I guess it's a good thing since girls her age at the time period the book is set are not that lucky, and she is slowly learning what the court is like, what her husband is like and there's a steady character development I really love reading.

Branford is... Brandford. He's seductive and charming, the series is really setting a court vibe and I can't wait to see Brandford and Alexandra in action - well, not that action, but actual political and court action.
