Jillian Eaton has written over forty historical romances and is known for finding the perfect balance between "intense emotions, sizzling chemistry, and light-hearted humor" (Swept Away by Romance). She grew up in Maine and now lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and their three boys on a 17-acre farm where they rescue and rehabilitate senior horses.

This was fine. I've literally had this book on my shelves since 2017 (I actually pre-ordered it) and I can't tell you why I never got around to it. I probably would have liked it more had I read it closer to the first book.

There was a major glaring issue in the book where the MC Lola tells someone something about herself (don't want to get too spoilery) and then two scenes later she says it again and they act shocked, like they'd never heard it before. Like not only was it a mistake, because it had already been told to them, but they had a completely different reaction than they had the first time. It was interesting.

The end was just over too soon. The final battle was just *poof* done. And I'm pretty sure there were meant to be more of these books but Jillian did decide to focus on her historical romances, which to be fair is where she was making her money so no shade to her there.

This book honestly rates so high because it was funny. Lola is just funny. I thought she was hilarious in the first book and she had me in stitches here too.

As always, Jillian's development of a strong, stubborn female lead is thoroughly satisfying! After A Night Without Stars I couldn't wait for the release of this novel and I flew through it--quite a page turner with unpredictable twists and turns. I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in the Lola Chronicles!

Good story line, but definitely left unfinished. I would not recommend this unless you like incomplete stories.
