The beloved children’s book series continues as Stick Dog and his canine friends go on the prowl for pasta! While looking for some rope to play tug-of-war, Stick Dog and his gang of hungry hounds find something even spaghetti! Once they get a taste, they must get some more—even if it means sneaking into a restaurant filled with people. This difficult mission will demand all of Stick Dog’s problem-solving skills. Dangerous humans—including a strange-talking girl, a huge chef, and a penguin-man—lurk around every corner. But there’s more than danger in the air. Stick Dog has caught the scent of something even more scrumptious than spaghetti. And he’ll risk everything to find out what it is. Other favorites in the series include Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog, Stick Dog Chases a Pizza, and many more!
Tom is the author and draws the original sketches for all the Stick Dog stories. He lives in Chicago with his wife, daughter and son. They also have a dog named Shadow. Tom did not want to name the dog Shadow. He wanted to name him ‘Put Your Shirt On.’ It’s a long story. Sometimes when Tom is visiting schools, he shares the story.
Tom’s first jobs out of college were in politics. He worked for U.S. Senator John Glenn and as the Chief Speechwriter for the Governor of Ohio. He has also worked in marketing and advertising. He likes writing books for kids a lot more than writing speeches and other things for grown-ups. He thinks kids are way smarter than grown-ups.
Stick dog, and the gang want to play tug-of-war and go looking for a rope. Instead, they find a container of spaghetti. They don’t know it’s spaghetti, they think it’s a new form of rope. Once they figure out it’s spaghetti they need to find more. As all dogs are always hungry. I love the series, Stick Dog is so patient with his friends and I love how he helps his friends.
Stick Dog Slurps Spaghetti, by Tom Watson, is about Stick Dog and his friends finding spaghetti then wanting more because they think it’s so good. In my opinion this book is descent. I recommend this book to all kids.
Well, first of all it was a very cute and funny book about a group of dogs that go on an epic journey to taste the delightfully delicious spaghetti and meatballs. I give this book 4 stars. It did get a little boring at times, but the end was so good I could of read it like, 10 times. I recommend this book to dog lovers everywhere or just people who want a bit of humor in their day.
In “Stick Dog Slurps Spaghetti” by Tom Watson. Most dogs live indoors with their owners, but some are not as fortunate to have owners. Some dogs live outside scavenging for food, but then there is Stick Dog and his friends who love to have fun while looking for food. This book tells the story of Stick Dog and his friends as they search for food and come upon spaghetti. They spend the book looking for where the mysterious food they have never tasted comes from. In this book, the authors style is the use of a lot of dialogue. For example on page 81, it says “ “what is it stripes” “ this whole hot air ballon thing” She said. “Yes, what about it” “ I was wondering if it could be one of those really cool striped balloons”” most of this whole entire page is dialogue which shows that the author likes to show exactly what the characters are saying. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Clifford but cannot read Clifford in class. This is a good substitute for any dog lover that would like a good book with detailed drawings.
Stick Dog and his canine pals get a slurp of spaghetti and immediately form a quest to find MORE. The spaghetti restaurant appears to be on the top of a hill. That seems way too far to walk, so the dogs start brainstorming methods to get to the top of the hill and obtaining the tasty meal.
As I was reading this I was reminded of the Pickwick Society. Ok, yes, the target readers are pretty much at opposite ends of the reading spectrum, but the insane, over the top schemes definitely feel like something the Pickwick members would dream up if they were dogs. Stick Dog is very humble and understanding and saves the others from themselves without even letting them know. Readers realize he's the brains of the outfit, but the dogs are none the wiser. Hand this to kids who are reluctant to pick up chapter books or love dogs or goofy stories.
Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. One of the plans involves a very dangerous stunt of sitting in a giant frying pan on a fire, but kids should realize this is very ill advised. A dog gets a paw stuck in a door but ends up ok.
Stick Dog Slurps Spaghetti is the sixth book in Stick Dog series and fairly par for the course. These books are reluctant-reader bait and for children not quite ready for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the simple drawings and notebook-paper style will fit the bill. The silliness of the plot, Stick Dog and friends’ pursuit of an elusive plate of spaghetti, makes this a worthy acquisition you already have this series. If not, purchase the first three Stick Dog books and see if they garner enough interest to warrant buying the entire collection. There is nothing particularly new or noteworthy to be found in this story, so it is an additional purchase.
Stick Dog and his gang of hungry hounds want to play tug-of-war. Their search for rope leads to something even better—spaghetti! Once they get a taste, they must get some more.
It will be their most difficult mission ever—and will demand all of Stick Dog’s problem-solving skills. They’ll need to scale the tallest mountain in the suburbs and sneak into a restaurant filled with people.
Dangerous humans—a strange-talking girl, a huge chef, and a penguin-man—lurk around every corner. But there’s more than danger in the air. Stick Dog has caught the scent of something even more scrumptious than spaghetti. And he’ll risk everything to find out what it is.

Stick Dog and his friends get a little taste of spaghetti from under a Dumpster and crave more. They go in search of this delicacy and have to plan how to sneak into a restaurant to get more.
I'm reading these books with my seven year old son, and he loves them. The dogs are very much dogs, but they talk to each other. The vocabulary is good. Stick Dog is mighty patient with his friends and generous.
I love this series! Stick Dog and his friends always seem to be in search of food , which makes sense as they are strays. But they have so much fun getting it and humans are so clueless! In this story, the dogs discover and taste spaghetti. They manage to get into an Italian restaurant kitchen and eat a large pot of spaghetti. Stick Dog even manages to snatch a bag of meatballs for his buds when they make their escape. Humans are none the wiser! Fun story! Suitable for all dog lovers ages 7 up.
This is Book #6 in the Stick Dog Series . . . the silliness and eating continues! Once again the dog friends play games ( this time tug-of-war and hide & seek), imagine plans, and feast together. Of course, there is hiding and lots of strategy to not get caught or to be seen by the humans, because after-all, they are stray dogs and they value their freedom.
I liked this book because it was very funny. Karen always makes me laugh. Stick dog is the Alfa dog. He comes up with the best ideas. If you are 7 and older I think this book will be good for you. I loved it!!!
so funny. these books are great fir younger readers. the drawings & the silly antics of the dogs make the story vety interesting & easy to follow. can’t say the dogs have the best manners as they do tend to do a lot of stealing but over all the books are cute & funny.
Ingenious idea - clever stick dog drawings combined with canine friendship and adventures and a friendly author/narrator who drops in a few lines every now and again. Part chapter book, part graphic novel and perfect for emerging independent readers.
My son LOVES spaghetti so of course he had to read this book. As he read it I found myself enjoying it too. It was ridiculously funny at times but that is what made it so good.
For sure one of the best Stick Dog stories! I absolutely love how the dogs decide that smaller humans must be smarter than bigger humans because they don't wipe away the best part of the meal (the leftover crumbs and drips) with a napkin as often... Just adorable.
Other than the hot dog Stick Dog story, this my be my favorite. :-)

"Meatballs!!" Stripes yelped. "Balls made out of meat!" Karen screamed. "Is this some kind of crazy dream!? Am I living in a fantasy world?!"
Fun story - fun storyline. Kids love these and who wouldn't love Mutt, Poo Poo, Strips, Karen and Stick Dog! They are fun - I am guess all the readers love seeing the story unfold through Stick Dog's (the smart dog) eyes. Because they are reading with Stick Dog, they'll know what will happen before the Stick Dog's friends do. Wonder what the dog will want to eat next - tacos, cupcakes, cheese-steak...?
