The sixth book in the Rushed series finds Eric facing some of his greatest fears when his wife, Karen, drags him to an eight-year-old child’s birthday party at the circus-themed family entertainment center called Bellylaugh Playland. Almost immediately, he discovers something horrifyingly amiss with the building and is hurled into a life-or-death race against the clock to save everyone from an ancient, slumbering evil. The ghostly children and temperamental scenery he thinks he can handle. It’s the clowns that are really freaking him out.
Brian Harmon is an independent author of horror fiction, suspense and dark adventure. He grew up in Missouri and currently lives in Southern Wisconsin with his wife, Guinevere, and their three children.
I've read all the books in the Rushed series so far and each of them had their own quest that Eric is thrown into and you don't necessarily have to read them all to understand them individually. There are some characters and things that are understood easier if you've read the previous books but it's not mandatory.
So in this book we find Eric at a semi defunct family play attraction that features an arcade, a 2 story play area, a party room and multiple activities, like laser tag, go karts and a carnival midway, that are no longer in use. His wife is the party planner for an 8 year old birthday party that Eric is forced to come help at, mainly to keep his wife sane from her snooty and overbearing mother and sister.
But as soon as he arrives he senses that something is wrong with the building (aside from the fact that it's FILLED with plastic clown statues!!) He is harassed, chased and constantly bothered by a skinny clown with the ability to throw Eric into very real delusions that have all kinds of horrors attacking him.
He is assisted by a few friendly characters that only he can see, and they give him information and clues how to defeat the evil in the building before the party is over and it escapes into the real world.
This was one of my more favorite of the Rushed books. I really enjoyed the characters, the villain, the twist at the end and the location where the story takes place was a fun offering as well.
The Rushed series by Brian Harmon is one of my favorite series of books of all time! All of these books, including Rushed: All Fun and Games, were the kind of story I just couldn't put down. I would be up late, way past bedtime, just engrossed and immersed in what was happening in the story! I love all of the characters and the interaction between them. I have a copy of each of these books on my shelf, ready to be read again!
I have always enjoyed books about the supernatural, and this series definitely makes my list of favorite! The character development is so fantastic. I like that he references earlier booms just enough that someone who hasn't read them all understands what's going on, but those who have aren't bored with rehashing things. These are definitely on my list of books to reread and look for details I may have missed!!!
Very exciting and hard to put down, just like all the other Rushed books. However, this one seemed to drag a little bit in the middle while the main character was looking for his adversary....too much "back and forth" and "tag". Otherwise it was another exciting adventure through a very twisted fun house!!
Fun and Games, Indeed! Rushed series would make great movies!
My favorite in this series. Well articulated, funny, creepy, outright terrifying at times- it is a good read! Clowns are scary to some folks anyway, but demonic clowns-yikes!
This is the 6th book in the series. Eric has to help his wife at a 8 year old's birthday party, at a circus themed amusement center called Bellylaugh Playland. As soon as he gets there he notices something is not right. He is against time and a life and death situation to save everyone there. There are ghosts and weird scenery's but the clowns really freak him out. This was fast moving but I think we could have done with a little less of Eric's time in the play area going through tunnels, slides, and the ball area.
Rushed is probably one of my favorite series - this new addition may helps move the story along. This latest is not one of my favorites but a very good story nonetheless. It does seem to take a whole to get into the plot more so than other stories in the series but once it's established there's a wild ride to be had!
Brian Harmon is, hands down, my favorite author. His books are addicting and wild. This one was no different. It somewhat tapped into some personal fears of mine, which made it that much more exciting and addicting. Highly recommend this book, as well as all of his other ones.
I absolutely love the Rushed books. Imaginative with a sense of humor. The relationships are amazing and the posse Eric is accumulating just adds to the adventure.
