Have you dreamed of publishing a book, but don’t know where to start? Are you waiting for a publisher to tell you it’s ‘good enough’ to share? Self-publishing has become increasingly popular, for new and established authors. The advent of print-on-demand sites has made publishing an achievable dream, but that dream can become a nightmare. After all, self-publishing also requires self-managing, self-marketing and greater self-confidence than many authors possess. This book collects insights from experts, and Kylie’s own self-publishing experiences. It outlines the main elements and shares practical advice. You will discover the steps to successfully publish your own book in five stages: Stage 1: Writing your manuscript - planning, writing and rules Stage 2: Creating your platform - details, website and marketing Stage 3: Making it a book - editing, designing and publishing Stage 4: Preparing to launch - finalising, bookshops and reviews Stage 5: Getting it out there - influencers, launch and the long game If you want to publish your own book, and you have the courage to try - Write to Launch will guide you through the steps to turn that dream into a reality. Are you ready to start?
Born in Wollongong, NSW, the middle child of a working class family, Kylie never knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. The result was living a life based on other people’s expectations – resulting in two failed marriages and a number of largely unfulfilling careers. That all changed after making the tree change to Tasmania with her wonderful partner Derek.
In her 40th year, Kylie decided to turn angst into action. In November 2011, inspired by literally hundreds of TED talks sharing a wide range of ideas, Kylie launched herself onto the often rocky ride she dubbed My Year of TED.
The ground-breaking program Kylie designed fused the universal wisdom of TED’s ideas into a pathway that led her to rediscover her authentic self, change her life and, finally, take ownership of what she wanted.
These days Kylie deliberately lives so far outside her comfort zone that she feels it no longer exists – at times she doesn’t recognise herself in the new life she has created. Now a TEDx speaker, trainer, consultant and published author, Kylie focuses on trying to help other people rediscover their authenticity, understand their own courage, and become better decision makers.
She does this with the loving support of her partner Derek and their beloved crazy dog Lily, in the comfort of the house they built together Tasmania’s Huon Valley.
A thorough, well-organised and up-to-date (published in 2016) overview of how to self-publish in the Australian market - a great resource backed up by the author's website. Very useful as I start my own journey toward self-publishing!
Invaluable guide for those self-publishing their work. I used Kylie's book throughout the process of self-publishing my first novel. Some of the handiest information told me where to create 3-D mock-ups of the book, which look fantastic online and on my advertising materials; how to approach a book launch; and how to deal with the maze of forms and tax requirements to get the book up on Amazon. Write to Launch made the many steps of this journey logical and manageable.
