An unusual messenger appears at Mia’s farm during a spring storm. “Tell him all weren’t lost in the Cardamom Mountains,” he says and is suddenly gone, swept up in a swirling eddy of rain and leaves. The message is intended for both Sheriff John Ryan and Father Santos. It prompts the two, along with Mia and Murphy, to return to the place they first met, Cambodia. Meanwhile, the Big Bear Lake Cemetery is vandalized, and bodies are found to be missing from the Weller mausoleum. To make matters worse, the deputy in charge of the investigation quickly becomes missing too. Acting-Sheriff Tom Braverman deputizes Ted, Cid and Ed to find his deputy. What dangerous game are these spirits playing with both the living and the dead? Mia has avoided the corrupted ground of the Big Bear Lake Cemetery all her life since she was found screaming at the crossroads of the graveyard when she was a young child. She tries to stay out of this investigation, but there is another restless spirit there who will only deal with her. This brings her back to the graveyard to face her greatest fear, in a fight that she may not win. Will her nemesis claim her, or will Mia survive another encounter with the Countess?Come and join Mia, Murphy, PEEPs, and friends as they navigate through the supernatural and the paranormal worlds to discover what “The Long Game” has been all along. Who are the players, and who are the pieces? And who will survive the game? “The Long Game” is the 19th novel of the “Haunted Series.”
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
Loved the first 19 books in "Haunted Series"books so much that I didn't want to waste the time on leaving a review at the end of each. I was to eager to download the next book and have been binge reading them since I finished the first book. The characters are engaging and entertaining (at this point I feel like they are MY friends) and the plots are diverse enough to keep your attention and so far have not lost their entertainment for me. Only problem for me is that I am not getting any of my daily house chores done (hubby is starting to complain, lol). It's like discovering a television series you enjoy but has been on the air for 5 years and you have to binge watch all the previous shows in order to explain references about prior characters that are no longer on the show or to explain all the "inside jokes" that make sense to audiences that have been watching the show since episode 1. Plus, at the end of almost each book they announce something that make me instantly want to stay with this cast of family/friends/co-workers to see how this plays out.
Well, that's all I have time for as Book 20 has a!ready been downloaded and is sitting waiting for me to plunge into the next haunting investigation. Oh, and for those of you who are put off or offended by sex scenes with TMI - you wont find those in this series (at least that has been the case in the first 19 books)! If you are into the paranormal - then give this series a try.
I have read the entire series and thought I loved Lola best but now it might be this one! Alexis is the really gifted one. She brings in just the right elements of previous Haunted characters and adds nuance to everyone's antics and foibles
I have read all Alexie's Haunted series. And am saddened by her demise. I understand she left directions on how to continue series and I hope whomever picks it up will continue.
Phew! I realized that there were a few in this series released that I hadn't read, so purchased the newer books, then went back and re-read from Book #1 in the series all the way through. Although I didn't like all the plot twists Ms.Aaron included, this is a phenomenal series for any lover of the paranormal.
From ancient magic through current religion, it's all here. I can't imagine that it would offend anyone's religious beliefs (but wouldn't guarantee that depending on how open minded you are), and plenty of curse words are used (doesn't bother me, but may some). There is some romance, some sex, but not step by step description of the act (for which I'm grateful, means I don't have to skim/skip through pages of that stuff. If I want to read modern erotica, I'll buy a 'romance' book). Some minor punctuation/proofreading errors that are noticeable but don't stop the reader in their tracks like some books.
I've lost days to the world of PEEPs, and don't regret a minute of the sleep lost, errands undone, or real life missed. Thank you, Alexie Aaron for the quality entertainment you provided.
Oh my! This book was one of the best of this series. Some questions answered, some surprises, more to come I hope! I laughed some, I cried some and most of all was captivated from page 1. I love Murphy, Mia, Ted and the rest of the Peeps gang. I highly recommend this book but suggest if you haven't read this series from the beginning you start with book 1, THE HAUNTINGS OF COLD CREEK HOLLOW.
The PEEPS are at it again! This time with birdmen, a plot t o destroy earth and a diabolical countess who wants Mia. Lots of action and paranormal scenes to digest. This is one of my favorite series. They also seem fresh and never overwritten. Good plotline, good friends , just a well written book. Thanks Ms. Aaron...Will be waiting for next edition...
I think this was the best of the series to date. A truly original story, I have no idea how Alexie comes up with her plots! I can't speak highly enough. If you haven't tried these books yet I would urge you to do so, but please read them in order to get the full benefit of the character developments!
As with all of the Haunted Series books..I laughed...I cried..I mourned and rejoiced! I have 10 or so authors that I would read cereal boxes if they wrote them! Another amazing book that sucks you in and plugs you in the middle of the action! I am anxious to get my claws into #20!!
As usual, Alexie Aaron has written a wonderful book. Her characters are so well developed. I love their interaction and her imagination is remarkable. She has created a wonderful story world.
I am always so happy when a new book comes out in this series but now I am sad because I finished it. I can't wait to see what happens next. There are so many great characters in this book and I am looking forward to see how they develop.
I loved this book but I loved all of them!!!! I don't know where the ideas and information comes from but each book is different. This one had a war with demons in it. There are going to be changes in the next one. Keep them coming, Alexie Aaron!!!!
in my opinion, the best of the series. hope there's another. the author is starting a break off series with a recurring character from this series. Re-read in february, 2017..still exciting, action packed, heart breaking, warm hearted.
Another great PEEPS story. If you have been reading from the book one, then you know this is a very good series; ghosts, spirits, demons, sensitivities, geniuses, and so much more! Loved it!
Love everything about this series. I cant wait for the next one. I zip thru them so fast. Keep them coming. If you love paranormal but nothing too normal
