“...not your typical time traveling novel. The plot idea and characters were all very well developed...I cannot wait to see more from this author.” Amazon review
“Halstead’s...technique baits the readers for what lies ahead. It leaves the reader curious and anticipating more." Readers’ Favorite…Award.
C.M. Halstead is a life long adventurer torn between his writer’s cave, exploring, and pondering, he spends the rest of his time off-trail hiking, fishing, and seeking solitude. Early careers and titles include, USMC, Procurement, NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, Boss, and the hardest one of all, Dad.
He writes his stories on an old bus he is converting, the planned completion date between now and his 30th novel; this does not stop him from driving it around the American Southwest’s wilds seeking the places of solitude he needs to create the next story. He does not discriminate in the length of the stories he writes, each hero’s journey is as long or as short as it needs to be, no fluff necessary to tell the tale.
Self banished from “town” and away from its distractions, C.M. Halstead crafted The Tripper Series, Earned innocence, Mongers, and Not Eligible to name a few. As a highly focused creative, he is usually working several stories at once and has 20 creative works in process. Regularly accused of depleting his readers of sleep, his stories are an escape from the grind eliciting the use of PTO, sick days, and late nights under the covers.
The time traveling adventures continue with “Kangal (The Tripper Series, Book Two)” by C.M. Halstead. I would like to thank Chris for the e-copy of this book. As with book 1 the vivid imagination of C.M. Halstead works his magic through times future and past. We never seem to be in the here and now for some reason though. All the usual cast of characters and some new adventures which include meeting up with Mati Hari and some other evil beings from the World War I era. The pace was flawless, fast and intriguing. The characters had many layers to their personalities and the scenarios were unique, believable, and interesting. The only good bad thing I can say is that the book did not end with finality, so I expect we will be afforded the opportunity to a continuing story in the next chapter of the story in book 3??? This was my second read by C.M. Halstead and I found it to be entertaining and well thought out. I highly recommend this read for you science fiction/ time traveling yearnings. I look forward to future reads by C.M. Halstead.
Synopsis (from back cover): Escape your grind by helping the world!
Once again Grey’s team of seven Trippers travel from 2114 to 2014, although it is only a layover, it is an important one, they would not have been able to complete their previous mission without it!
After a quick task, the Tripper team continues backwards in time; to a period that has them dealing with the spies, espionage and trafficking of the world war one era. Europe is in turmoil, creating opportunities for those with an entrepreneurial mindset and a flexible moral system. All bets are off as the team does whatever it takes to accomplish a multifaceted mission the world will never know about, but will reap the benefits of, from now till the end of time.
I enjoyed this again. It was my second sci-fi book, and I remember the rough draft flowing with confidence. There will always be things I want to change, but that is part of writing for me. I always feel stories have room for improvement; perfect is a great reaching for the stars goal. The Kangal dog came from a random conversation about dog bite strength and the personalities of dog breeds. I liked the story behind the Kangal dog and worked to incorporate them into the story. Deep think secret revealed: it is what I see the Tripper Team's personality to be. Now, I move on to reading book three. I want to come up with a different title and am wanting one to come to me while I read it. Seasons may be a theme of the book, but it isn't a good title!
