Red L. Jameson lives in the wilds of Montana. While working on a military history master’s degree, she doodled a story that became her bestselling, award-winning romance, Enemy of Mine, part of the Glimpse Time Travel Series. After earning her gigantic master’s—the diploma is just huge, she couldn’t stop doodling stories, more Glimpse stories—because she can’t get enough of hunky Highlanders and buttoned-down Brits—and other stories, a paranormal romance series and contemporary series, which grew into the pen name R. L. Jameson, under which she writes cerebral and spicy erotic romance. She’s currently working on another master’s degree, so who knows what she’ll doodle next!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. 'Awake' by Red L. Jameson is book three in the "Wild Love' series. This is the story of Moira, Joe and Shane. Moira has been divorced for about two years with two small children. Moira husband was cheating on her and it was well known. Now divorce her only friend is a older neighbor who also is divorced. Moira met her friend son Shane who is a professor but to her he seem to think she is a 'country hick' but she is still fighting an attraction to him. Then on one of her friend invites her over for a party to celebrate her youngest son Joseph who is coming home after being in the military. When Moira meets Joe she is quickly attracted to him and it would seem him to her. They party doesn't go well and the host gets into a fight with her ex husband. Moira goes to leave and Joe walks her home...and doesn't leave. Moira is torn because Joe is younger than her and she is also attracted to his brother. This book was a good fantasy book. It was nice to see Moira get her self esteem back and find out who she really is also.
The first book was pretty good. The second book had a reality challenged kid-ult h who whined incessantly. This book was somewhere in-between. The h still drove me mad with her doormat, reality challenged tendencies, and the H's were almost a side issue to her whining.
More internal angst, turmoil and inner monologue drama than actual story...
Deep sigh ... Once again I went into a story in the series based on misplaced loyalty due to my Love for the 1st book in the series w/Jane and her amazing men,and though Jane had her faults I loved how honest and communicative I remember her trying to be w/her guys... With 3 different she kinda had to be but w/the immature overly angst ridden way the last two h's have handled things 3 guys just soo would Not have worked AT ALL.... Anyway the book starts w/what we think is gonna be about a woman's kinda rebirth back into life,a woman finally shedding the things that don't work for her starting face life head on ,not hiding from pain in alcohol any more finally see life as it its beauty ,warts and all , a woman w/a kind caring heart ready to face the truth about herself and others ,who takes a journey out of her cocoon and finds the love of two wonderful men along the way... Well that's what I was Hoping, especially when she was realizing that like myself she tries to overly nice and kind and giving towards others in the vain hope this will endear her to them and they'll treat her w/the same love an loyalty she soo freely bestows on them but sadly rarely is and sadly she NEVER seems to learn from this... Instead of the beauty of self growth and a woman finally coming into her own, we get more inner angst in a one pov monologue than a teenagers diary ,w/a woman who never seems to really grow or learn continues to let her emotional self be tossed around ( like a leaf at the mercy of the wind or water) only standing up for herself ( letting the " monster" out ) when she's absolutely pushed to do soo w/out much choice ,constantly acting just as selfish in her way as those who surround her... Honestly she NEVER faced any problems head or or directly until she had to,I felt she just traded on addiction for another she goes from drinking ( something she'd done sine she was around 13 so at 33 ,she'd been doing over 1/2 her life) wanting it to numb her pain to constantly wanting Joe and sex and when he wasn't around we hear her whining like a toddler for a box of her num num juice, anything goes wrong either wait for Joe to show up,call Bit her sponsor and crave her num num, sound harsh ? I don't mean to per say, we all have pain crap we gotta face, myself included but she seemed to happily wanna stay a member of the doormat society and cowardly hide from her problems and created more for herself by doing soo and NEVER really changed that m.o. even at the end of the book... Joe and awesome and amazing guy ( I wish was real and was walking in my direction at this moment) but hurting from the horrors of war and service and coming to his dysfunctional family w/a selfish mother who's only cared about her own needs and wants is made to keep their " relationship" a secret ( what kind relationship consists of you babysitting your lovers kids, and sneaking into her house every night after they go to sleep to have sex,w/no dates or anything and you can't tell anyone even the only person you trust your brother) ... This isn't a person in recovery growing stronger ,not really and it's not really a menage either ,along the way Moria and Shane seem to fall for each other in an angsty juvenile or operatic kinda way, you know where they pine and whine over each other and deny their feelings w/longest night looks and awkward silences ,til her lover finally guesses causing more angst and inner and outer drama that's he just sits back and whines over mouth shut w/the guys do that whole annoying you have her, your better than me ,No I'm a jerk, truly ! you have her ... Til finally they just send her off to think .. BS ... More times than not she let others make her decisions for her and like I said only stood up for herself went she had not choice and even then it was kinda pathetic.... Near the end she goes to confront her ex after learning he's lied as much about his finances as he has about everything else, finds him home w/ 2 1/2 naked women, he come on to her ,she rebuffs him, they play remember when, they work some things out but who does she leave ? Hours later sneaking out after the nap he got her to take w/him.. A nap w/ your ex ? After all that ? Yeah well to the very end this butterfly had the backbone of a wet noodle... Drove crazy how she lived in her cowardly denial ,no letting hers of see the pain was causing except to either cry over it, wallow in it or use it as an excuse for more denial and yet those around her pet her and tell her how strong and wonderful she is and she calls just basically standing up for herself ' letting the monster out" ,deep sigh... Being honest isn't always easy w/your self or others but I'm pissed because I was made believe I was read about a h who goes on a journey of self discovery and growth and find the love of two good men ,instead I got a weak woman telling me over and over the same things about herself whining and hiding from everything until she was forced to face it .
I’m already a big fan of Red L. Jameson and was looking forward to book 3 of this series. This is a full length book and it is jammed with such a great story that you will pay attention to every page. Personally, I read it straight thru and was happy that I did. I won’t go into any detail of the story because Ms. Jameson weaved so many threads into it that if I said anything, I feel it would give away a part of the story. The heroine, Moira Landing, truly begins a journey that changes her life. She has some amazing self-discovery moments and learns that being strong doesn’t always mean stay secluded in her own world – sometimes you can lean on someone else and the world won’t end. This is a well-written book, has a story that will, at times, make you smile, make you giggle, make you rip snortin’ furious, and has such a touching love story that you will feel it in your heart. It’s sexy, it’s hawt (the heroes are…whew!) but I never lost interest or felt like I had to skip a paragraph or page. I’ve loved the series, so far, but this story was amazing. All the characters are real – the heroes are flawed; the kids aren’t perfect; the best friends aren’t perfect either – so much like life that it makes the story ‘real’. I highly recommend this book!
This is the 2nd book i have read by the author, and I'll say that her writing style has definitely improved, and I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first book. For some reason though, I think Red writes a much better H than h. Her h, In this case Moira, just really seem to irritate me. Moira just has so much internal dialogue, and I honestly was rolling my eyes a lot of the time. The H, Joe & Shane were great. Very sexy, sweet doting men, who were so keen to cater to Moira's every whim. And they loved her 2 children like they were their own which was very sweet. The story has quite the mix of characters but easy enough to follow. There is some steam, but not as much as I would have liked ;) obviously there's family drama, so on the whole not a bad read, I just needed a bit more to push it up to the 4* mark.
So Red L. Jameson has written yet another GREAT book for the Wild Love Series. I enjoyed the Moira saga. Moira had a lot going on in her life and she had things going on she had no clue about. So when she met Joe she was unable to decide should she or shouldn't she. Then when you add Joe's older brother Shane to the mix things get even more exciting. But when you add an ex-husband and two small kids plus her friend Eva who just so happens to be Joe and Shane's mom...look out cause fireworks are going to fly! Throw in some hot sex and Hot Dang you have a GREAT BOOK! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great read and some hot sex! You won't regret it!
Loved it! This is the 3rd book in Ms. Jameson's Wild Love series, set in Wyoming and I devoured it! Moira is a divorced mom who is coming to terms with her life just as she meets the two sons of a friend. I loved how Moira has decided to release her numbness and be AWAKE for herself and her kids. As if to reward her, fate sends her Joe and Shane. The sexual tension sizzles. The raw honesty of the writing is surprising and resonates deeply. This is a thoughtful, sexy story that was a treasure to read from beginning to end! Can't wait for the next one in this delightful series.
