Oh my gosh! Yes, Yes, Yes!!!
I loved this volume. I loved everything about it. It was SO funny! Thorfinn, Einar and Bug-Eyes are hilarious together in this one. Gudrid is a great addition to the cast of characters. And the amount of tension and suspense was also perfect.
Even though I immediately want to jump in and read the next volume, I'm loving this arc so much that I just want to savor it and take my time.
Highly recommended. My favorite manga series of all time!

اون چیزی که اوایلِ داستان لیتر لیتر داشتیم رو حالا با قطره چکون بهمون میده.
جلد شونزدهم خوب بود، اما بیشتر از حد فیلره، خیلی داره وقت تلف میکنه. متوجهم که برای رسوندن مفهومی که توی ذهنشه نیاز داشت که فضای کلی و تقریبا همه چیز رو عوض کنه و موفق هم بود. وینلند ساگا روی دیدم به خشونت و ظلم تاثیر زیادی داشت.
اما خب... خیلی فیلره این بخش هاش! اینقدری که نمیتونم تصور کنم کسایی که وقتی ماهی یک چپتر میومده میخوندن چه حسی داشتن...

HILD AMORE MIO.
FINALMENTE un personaggio femminile degno di nota, questa serie in effetti ne era un po' sprovvista. A me Hild è piaciuta ancor prima di leggere di lei nel Manga (mi ero già spoilerata qualcosa a riguardo) e sono troppo curiosa di sapere cosa succederà ora che ha davanti a sé Thorfinn.
Davvero un bel volume, soprattutto gli ultimi due capitoli in cui viene introdotta Hild.

این والیوم بیشتر مقدمه و زمینهسازی برای ادامه داستان بود. به غیر از چپتر پایانی، اتفاق خاصی توی داستان رخ نداد. با این حال مصور داستان همچنان توی اوجه. بعضی مواقع بیخیال داستان میشم و چندین دقیقه به نقاشیها خیره میشم. فوقالعادهس.

omg, insane cliffie. as per usual, makoto yukimura has done absolute justice to the plot, the characters, the themes and the art. the art is so fucking mesmerizing, i stare at one panel for atleast 15 minutes. i can't get enough. i actually watched the first two seasons and picked up the manga where the anime left off and am quite surprised by how many humourous moments are also incorporated into the story. the anime gives off very grim, serious, deep vibes but the manga is surprisingly also fun to follow?
thorfinn's character growth remains awe inspiring. i am so excited to see him become the man that his father dreamed of. i love following him on his journey to find vinland. this was a stellar entry as per usual. loved all the new (and some old) characters that were introduced (or re-introduced) here. i loved the conversation between gudrid and thorfinn about murders with no consequences and about peace. it was riveting and compelling. also a huge fan of einar and thorfinn's friendship!

This continues Thorfinn's quest to find Vinland but before that they need money and so they travel to Grikkland and take Gudrid with them and with Sigurd following them to keep his honor and then there is the thing with random adventures, mishaps and findings like a child named Karli who they have to take care of after they land in some area ravaged by war and funny encounter with Sigurd. Then they meet a woman named Hild who helps them with their bear crisis but then the main thing happens when we find out her connection to Thorfinn and its amazing and changes everything. The past comes to haunt you back in a big war and for Thorfinn how will his pacific nature deal with violence in the past? Great volume and the art is amazing and some panels were lusciously rendered.

Now we've met Karli and Hild. Leif has said to Gudrid that in this journey, you'll have many new experiences. Both good things and bad things. And with this new point of contact, let's let Thorfinn decide if it's good or bad. It is now time to face the consequences of his murder.
Anyway, Yukimura and Noda should be friends. The respect they have for mothers and their meticulous handling of bears in their stories are so similar. They're both great authors.

I don’t know why but there were parts in this that were absolutely hilarious to me.
I’m extremely intrigued by Hildr. Already obsessed with her. In general I’m glad there are more female characters in this story finally.

Bruh, the way my heart sank when she mentioned Askeladd.
It is such a well-written encounter in terms of how tension is created. There was something suspicious in Hild's eyes but I got fooled anyway. When it became clear where the situation was heading, I immediately had this urge to flip back through the pages to see where I missed the signs, and sure enough it occured to me that Hild had been trying to identify Thorfinn right from the beginning.
On a more general level, now that the cards are laid on the table it's become a bit too obvious to me what is the narrative point of this whole unexpected journey to Greece: it would be too easy on Thorfinn if he just sailed west to the lands of freedom right off the bat. First he has to repent, confront the past, face his victims, be dragged through a purgatory - and a journey through the Atlantic simply wouldn't accommodate such events. So Yukimura contrieves a rather bizarre excuse (trading narwhal horns to get a loan, wat?) for the squad to go east before they go west, just so that Thorfinn finds himself in the part of the world where he is more likely to be assaulted by the ghosts of the past.
And I can also see that Yukimura at some point must have gone through a feminist awakening since he's focusing a lot on female characters in this arc.
The journey to Greece may still turn out to be a great story, but I kinda don't like it when I can see through the author's intentions too easily.

New adventures and new problems, I love the character of Gudrid and her dynamic with other characters like Thorfinn, Einar, Leif and the second Thorfinn are moments of brilliant introspection and also somewhat comical, I am very intrigued by the integration of Karli to the crew and I must mention that this Vol. has one of the most beautiful covers and that cliffhanger left me with cold blood.

In fuga, inseguiti da Siggy che rivuole la sua sposa e il suo onore, Thorfinn e is uoi compagni sbarcano alle Shetland, dove raccolgono un neonato e il cane che lo protegge, ultimi superstiti di un massacro.
Siggy li raggiunge ma loro riescono a sfuggire ancora perché la loro nave è più leggera e Leif conosce meglio il mare.
Raggiunte le coste della Norvegia nei dintorni di Bergen, scendono a terra, affrontano un orso che non è in letargo (è inverno) e incontrano la cacciatrice di orsi, Hilde.
Disegni sempre buoni, ma storia secondo me un pelo troppo allungata, anche se c'è un motivo.
Solo 3 stelle e mezza per questo albo.

¡Se está poniendo intensa la cosa! El pasado vuelve a atormentar a Thorffin, el obstinado de Sigur va tras la tripulación, hay un bebé y un perro en el barco y esto aun no termina.
Creía que este arco iba a estar medio aburrido como el anterior, pero la serie está recuperando parte de la intensidad de los primeros ocho tomos.
Lo malo es que esta es una serie que aun no se termina de publicar y no sé que voy a hacer cuando llegue al tomo actual XD. Pero por mientras ¡A darle!

This volume contains chapters 108-115. I was waiting for something like this to happen, for Thorfinn's past to catch up to him. Karma is a bitch. The artwork is as good as ever. I'm still trying to get used to Thorfinn's short hair. The baby is an odd mix for the group but I'll go with it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this conflict works itself out.

Eva me ha dicho que esta parte es un poco rollo y puedo entender su opinión. Sin embargo, esta serie se ha vuelto tan personal que creo que disfrutaría cualquier cosa que estuviera de fondo con estos personajes y este tono.

weaker than the previous volume but still had so much depth and character moments. the addition of karli was so cute and seeing the crew try to take care of him was so fucking funny 😭😭😭😭 and then hild shows up and then....

Thorfinn's voyage continues to Grikkland. In the end of the volume they meet a new character, it's getting more interesting.
