I spent years lusting after Luka. I should have been more careful with what I wished for.

It took me years to find the courage to speak to Luka. He seemed exactly like me. Intelligent. Focused. Serious.

But he’s not the man I imagined.

His reality is cruel and dark. He traps me in his web, his power twisting tighter the more I struggle, until it’s hopeless. I can’t break free.

As he drags me unwillingly into his filthy world, I can’t ignore the terrifying idea circling my mind. What if I belong here with him?

Rape, murder, kidnapping, mafia. This book has all these (and much more) but I honestly had no problem with it since the author had given a trigger warning. I knew I was in for a dark read.

The premise of a pre-med h who gets drunk at a frat party and the pseudomafia "hot guy" who rapes then kidnaps her is certainly interesting enough, except I found the prose sloppy and the characters derived. In addition, there was no escalation of conflict, proper exposition or even a believable interpretation of how Luka became a monster and why he chose to unleash his brand of crazy on Addison.

That aside, I'm continually baffled as to how non-consensual sex becomes love of all time. Or how Addison, within the span of ONE day, suddenly couldn't wait to taste Luka's veiny penis. *Giggle* Forgive me, friends.

Speaking as one who almost was raped (by someone I considered a friend and mentor), I assure you that at no time did it cross my mind that "oh, my panties are wet that must mean it's okay". I went cold, and knew if it escalated beyond being forcibly held down neither one of us would leave there alive. A knife, shards of the dinner plate, or even a pen through his eyeball were my preferred weapons of choice. He's still alive, so that's that.

So, no, I did not like the book or the characters bc nothing about it was authentic or believable. Not even within the realms of dark fiction.

Nikki Sloane is a new to me author, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I found the title and the cover to be intriguing and reading the blurb I just knew I had to read it. Mrs. Sloane delivered an interesting enough erotic dark tale that many readers will find enchanting. If you are not easily offended than you may like this one, but keep in mind the story has one scene that is very graphic, disturbing .

“The more you fight, the worse it will get. Just accept I am in control now. I own everything.” He made a production of sweeping his gaze downward. “Your body. Your time. Even your choices. Those are all mine now, Addison.”

Addison is a dedicated, hardworking senior and all she wants is to get into medical school. Spending all her life driving toward a medical degree, everything else had been neglected, including her social life. Needless to say over the years she didn’t have many relationships. She’s not looking for one, not only because of her aspirations, but because she’s still dreaming of Luka, her teaching assistant from Calculus. Luka never seemed interested in her, so when at a frat party they meet again and Luka seems somehow interested, Addison is more than surprised.

“His expression was seductive and sinister. Scary, and yet . . . enticing.”

Addison’s life changes completely when she meets again older, fascinating Luka. He is not the boy Addison thought he is. He is dark, calculated and slowly he will manipulate and drag Addison in his dangerous and filthy world.

description

I found the premise to be truly interesting and I think the story had a lot of potential, but sadly most of the aspects here were just okay for me. Since I love dark reads, I wasn’t bothered by the graphic scene I mentioned above. After all, it’s fiction! Both Addison and Luka were nicely portrayed, but unfortunately I can’t say I liked them. Luka was a great hero/ antihero, at least in the beginning. His backstory was nicely done. Cold and manipulative, he was an interesting character, until his mood swings got on my nerves. His transition from a ruthless captor to a sweet, yet possessive, intimidating hero was way to rushed and unbelievable in my opinion.

Addison was your usual heroine in a dark romance – naïve, inexperienced etc. For someone who is supposed to be smart, Addison acted (most of the times) like a dumb little girl. She accepted her new situation to fast for my liking. Needless to say I would have wanted for her to fight more. That being said, there was no push and pull between these two, which honestly I didn’t like at all. The plot was another thing that didn’t work for me. It was lame, underdeveloped and pretty predictable. On top of that, there were no twists and turns to make me be more engaged in these two characters’ story.

One aspect that I liked was the steam aspect. The story is pretty hot. There are plenty of dirty sex scenes, but a little too many IMO. I know this is a dark erotica, but personally I wanted more story, more suspense, more something...anything.

Overall, this was just an okay read for me, but just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you!

Holy hell, this one was completely unexpected. I love how Nikki Sloane delivers fun, sexy reads. If I want a sexy read she is my go to author. She begins this book saying this isn’t like her others, it’s darker and boy is it. So I will say if you don’t like dark romances this isn’t for you.

Addison is a dedicated student, getting into medical school isn’t just a goal it’s her entire life. Luka is the TA she had a crush on, so when she runs into him at the one and only frat party she attends everything changes.

Luka and Addison hook up and from here the story takes off, but not like you would expect. It wasn’t now we are in love, it’s a lot different than that. He drags, drags is definitely the right word, her into his dangerous world. I swear I didn’t expect this from Nikki Sloane, but one thing held true it was freaking hot as can be.

This story does have love, but it isn’t pretty and at times made me question whether or not I even liked Luka. In the end, I did end up loving this story. It’s raw, gritty and blush worthy. I do want to mention I am a fan of darker romances, taboo stories, and forbidden love. I only say that to mention if you are not and are just looking for a sexy story check out one of Nikki’s other books. If you want dark, sign up here because this will take you on one hell of a ride!

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Female
Rating:

Addison Drake was ambitious and driven. As a pre-med student, she had made a plan of action to where the direction of her life is going. But the one time she decided to go to a frat party, veered her life off course.

Luka Markovic was the man she crushed on two years ago. But he turned out to be a completely different person now. There was a darkness she never saw before and she had to endure it whether she wanted it or not.

When a book is controversial, readers acted like a moth to a flame. That's me included. Personally, I don't see much of a banning reason in this book. So no, nothing that will make anyone shudder or question their sanity (at least not for me lol!), but overall it was sexy and somewhat dark read.

“Your body. Your time. Even your choices. Those are all mine now, Addison.”

Luka started as an ass and I actually liked that. The abrasiveness and the alphaness were appealing. But along the way, he became too much of an ADD with his personality. It's like he can't decide who he wanted to be.

I thought I wanted safe and comfortable, but what if I needed this aggressive, dominating version more?

Addison was a conundrum. For someone who supposedly smart, I didn't actually feel much of that. I understand her situation, but she was too accepting. There wasn't much push-pull between herself or them.

Luka was bad, and the worst part of me hoped he was going to make me be bad along with him. Naughty, slutty, and wrong.

My biggest problem with this book was the too loose plot. I wasn't convinced by the story or the characters. It made me less invested in them. Their issues were not elaborated and the solutions were too convenient.

If you like your book full of dirty sex, this one won't disappoint. There were plenty to go around to satisfy your needs. Call me crazy but my favorite one was the "just the tip" scene lol!

Sordid is a story of a woman exploring her darkest desires and the man who made it a reality. Even though the story itself wasn't much, it packed plenty of heat to go around.

I picked up on Sordid because it’s a dark romance book. Let me just be frank here. I’m a dark junkie. I like the dirty, I like the wicked and I like a really nasty Hero. Sordid delivered this and so much more.

I will warn you, Sordid is a very dark book. It’s not for the faint of heart, but trust me when I say it’s worth every emotional outburst you will have while reading. It’s thrilling, passionate and will suck you in from the first page. I could not stop reading and I promise you will love it.

Addison is your typical nose stuck in a text book college nerdy girl. Her main goal in life is to become a doctor, she does not have distractions, but for ONE NIGHT she wants to let loose and have fun. So, she goes to a frat party.

This is when her life changes.

Luka is the boy she has had a crush on since she had class where he was the TA. He’s graduated years ago, but he’s at his brother’s frat party.

Luka and Addison exchange some flirty banter and then they head upstairs.

The book begins really sweet and innocent, but it’s written well and you can’t but help but feel that something is going to happen. When Luka and Addison first meet, you think it’s a typical college meet-cute, two good looking people finding each other and getting the flirt on, but so much more happens and that’s when things spiral out of control.

Luka is not a nice Hero. I would say he could be considered a villain and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love to hate Luka and I hate to love him too. I was really conflicted with my emotions towards him and it made the read so much more. I liked the emotions Nikki Sloane made me feel. I didn’t know if I was suppose love Luka or punch him in the face.

Luka battles with his emotions towards Addison and it’s not always in the best manner. It’s pretty harsh and abrasive and you wonder how far he can push Addison and believe me I wanted him to push and push.

“Luka would consume until there was nothing left, I was sure of it. The fire between us burned too hot to last, but I’d do my best to hold my ground until the bitter end.”

Addison is sweet, innocent and it’s adorable that she has a crush on Luka. It makes it so much more tragic when she realizes he’s not what he seems and well she has her own conflicting battles. The book is in Addison’s POV and I loved that. I felt her pain, I felt her issues, I wanted to hug the girl and lift her up when she was feeling down.

“How could I be responding to him, even a little? Shame stormed through me.”

“I had dipped my toe into the dirty pond, I jumped in was eager to get filthy.”

What I really liked best about this book is that it’s simply about Luka and Addison. The characters are really developed and the chemistry is really hot. This is one-hundred-percent a new adult book with plenty of steamy scenes and kink to make any romance reader happy.

Sordid blew me away and I’m definitely a Nikki Sloane fan. PLEASE write more dirty dark books. This dark junkie needs them!!!

3* unpopular wrong side of dark rom STARS!

Review @ Midnight Romance

Something is wrong with this book because Amazon banned it. I have read Nikki Sloane's Blindfold Club series and quite enjoyed it. But Sordid offer a new taste outside comfort zone. I didn't really expect much since the author isn't specialize in dark theme.

Addison Drake has a perfect life with great academic to be a surgeon. She's never been a party girl, but when her friend needs help and she has to come. There, she met Luka Markovic, an enigmatic person who is her secret crush for months. Everything happened so fast and Addison must survive Luka's strom.
We were polar opposites. All of my inexperience and shyness was a void he filled with his ultra-confidence, trapping me in his power.

Usually, I enjoy dark romance with disturbing material but this one is different. Addison and Luka was engage in some non-consensual sex. I couldn't understand how can Luka wants to control Addison just because he's afraid she will blackmail him . Luka kidnapped Addison to be disciplined by him. I hardly enjoyed their sex scenes because lack of chemistry between them. Even deep inside Addison still like him, but sometimes his act prove differently.
“Perfect little Addison.” His voice mocked disapproval. “Talking to her parents while I’ve got my head between her thighs, licking her sweet pussy.” His thrust caused my eyes to roll back into my head. “Were you worried they’d find out what I’ve done to their good girl?”

description

Another problem came from the family. It seems Markovic family is a serbian mobster who has shady business. But Luka wants out and have a clean future outside the mob. There is not much info how Luka turns into cruel and sadistic person. He wants to tame Addison and claimed his love for her. He would do anything for her which is unbelievable for me. His redeeming qualities came very late in the end.

description

Overall, I skipped a lot because everything starts to annoyed me and didn't make any sense. Originally I give 2 stars, but 1 star is a bonus for the author because she's trying to write outside comfort zone. But I'm unimpressed with the story. The dark romance things seems to be forced. Please note this is not BDSM in whatsoever. Contains forced sex, chocking and heavy spanking for you, hardcore fans ;)
“Such a good girl. You love how my fingers fit inside you. You’re clenching so tight on them.” Because his mouth was close, it was like his words were inside my head. “Say it. Tell me how much you love it.”
I gasped. “I love it.”
“You love what?”
I undulated my hips to make him move faster. “Your fingers inside me.”

Addison Drake is a pre-med college student dedicated to her studies and future. Even though Addison gets stellar grades, she never feels perfect and really hasn’t connected with her roommate or many boys for that matter. However, there was one man she admired from afar but he was older and out of her league, or at least she thought.

Luka Markovic is older beyond his 25 years. While studying for his MBA, Luka was a teacher’s assistant in Addison’s calculus class. Since then, he graduates and works hard in his family business. While being very smart, Luka is quite controlled and limits his close relationships for a reason, but his restraint is tested when it comes to Addison.

It isn’t until Addison attends a frat party where she sees Luka again and it is clear Luka is very interested in her. What transpires is a situation that escalates and where time cannot undo the action. From this point, the momentum begins and Addison finds herself in a predicament where lines are drawn and she must determine how to further protect herself.

While this book delves into a difficult situation with a dose of reality, somehow the second half of this book felt too steeped in fiction. At times the book had dark tones and themes, which I loved, and the writing was engaging for the first half, but then there were certain plot shifts that lacked a foundation and affected the character development. Part of my problem was that it felt like I was reading two or three genres in one book. However, I do respect how the author tried to push the boundaries in this book.

Overall, Sordid is a book that makes you think about choices and the consequences that may occur.

My only fave part, gold star, and highlight of this book is when Luka was raping Addison to take her virginity lol “Stop,” I choked out. “I did.” His voice was hypnotic when it was that close to my ear. His tongue traced a line down my neck and I shivered in response. “I’m hardly inside you, and fuck, you’re so tight.”

I loved it!

Lately, I've been in a really wicked mood and I am sure it can be noticed in my updates.
Sue me!
Following this dirty state of mind, Sordid was a spot on choice. Very much what I was looking for to read: a total guilty pleasure!
So wrong but delicious good!
I know… I am wired in a wrong way.
Unfriend me or do not judge.

Sordid has a fuzzy, uncompromised, vague blurb and comes with no warnings. With this in mind I want to give you one, because in my opinion, there is a very important trigger that should have been mentioned in the blurb: non-consensual sex.

Non-con it’s a trigger that doesn't bother me as longer it is fiction. However, I totally respect and understand that this is not for all and that is why I think Sordid should have a warning in the blurb. It’s a good measure to protect the reader and also the writer.

That being said, as a voracious reader of Dark Romances, I don’t think it was fair Sordid being flagged by Amazon; the fuss about scenes of explicit sex and violence? Oh boy… I have read so much worse and color me surprised, they were bought from Amazon! I mean, take the Goodbye Man for example (don't take me wrong, I don't want TGM to be banned. I loved it! The Goodbye Man (5 Stars) was much more challenging in terms of stepping out of my comfort zone than Sordid. And is there, on Amazon.

To finalize my ramblings I just want to make a point:
I am over 18.
It’s my money.
It’s my free time.
Therefore I would like to, thank you very much, have and keep the right to decide what to read.

I’m on the fence with this one, I liked it, but I didn’t love it.. it did however keep me intrigued with the continuing crazy, depraved story that it was, with some hot and dirty sex scene’s throw in
The mix, the plot was engaging, Strong Characters but Luka was sometimes overwhelming, had to remind myself it’s fictional. It was definitely worth the read.

First thoughts: It feel wrong to give this book 5 stars in the beginning, but in the end not so much. Fiction is fiction. Not always of what we fire up is what we want to do or that we'll go do it to other people. It would be good to remember that.

Excellently written dark character. It's crazy how he changed from dangerous and violent hero into a sweet and addictive. It's just phenomenal and easily my favorite part of the book. I am not a fan of ends, actually, I do not know what I expected but it seems rushed.

If you are not afraid of dark erotica and are not easy offend or too sensitive, it is the book for you. But then and only then, no exceptions. Highly inappropriate and totally wicked.

Two things about this book. One, I am REALLY not getting why this was banned on Amazon? I'd read WAY worse in books published on there? Two, I LOVED this book, and I am not exactly sure what that says about me...

I ADORED Luka. I probably shouldn't have since he did in fact but I just loved him in all his sadistic, dirty, twisted glory. He was HOT. The sex (of which there is a TON) was SMOKING. This author knows how to write a sex scene for sure. Addison was more complicated for me. She didn't annoy me per se, but the constant in her head "Oh he is doing such BAD things to me, I don't want to like it, why do I like it?, OMG I LOVE it!" got a bit repetitive after awhile. Let's just say she didn't try all that hard to get away from Luka (can't say I blame her).

For the topic, this book was surprisingly low on angst. No OW/OM, no cheating. I found Luka's family really interesting, and was kind of hoping we'd get more of a storyline about them. Especially Vasilije. Maybe we will get a book featuring him? One can hope! Lastly, I thought that the book wrapped up rather easily, and a with a little too much of a bow. I wanted a messier ending. Not sure what I wanted exactly, but just less of a and more of a

All that aside though...this was really an enjoyable read.

Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.

Addison Drake is a goody-two-shoes. She’s lived her life striving for perfection; her dream of being a doctor drives her focus and has caused her to neglect everything else. Things like men, relationships, and a social life. So when her roommate invites her to a Halloween frat party, she decides it’s the perfect time to reinvent herself. Donning a naughty schoolgirl outfit, complete with pigtails, she swallows her nerves and heads out to her first party in ages.

Though she hasn’t seen him in two years, she’d recognize the guy manning the keg anywhere. Luka Markovic was the TA of her Calculus class two years ago. And the star in all of her fantasies. So, when he actually remembers her, she’s blown away and more than eager to spend a little time with this guy she is still insanely attracted to. Too bad for her Luka’s not a nice guy. And, while he may have missed his chance with her before, nothing is going to stop him from having her this time.

 photo Teaser_NotNice_zpskvyka1b6.jpg

By now, you’ve probably heard that this book was banned by Amazon. And, because of that, you’re probably expecting that this is an incredibly dark read. Scary dark. Well, you’d be wrong. That’s not to say that this isn’t a dark book, it is. It contains elements that may be triggers to some, in particular date rape and graphic violence. That said, it doesn’t even scratch the surface of some of darkest books I’ve read. Books that are, ironically, still for sale on Amazon.

The first major scene between Addison and Luka is stark in its realism and, honestly, proved a challenge for me to read because it mirrored an event in my own life far too closely. I had to pause for a minute or two, quite a few times, just to get a handle on my thoughts so I could continue. The author does an absolutely incredible job setting that scene and showing all of the emotions and thoughts that Addison has throughout. As odd as this sounds, it was cathartic for me to read.

And while that section was dark, it gets even darker for the next few chapters. Those chapters, in particular, were stellar! After that though, it lightens up considerably. Personally, I would have liked to see one more dark scene before the transition to the lighter section to help me be fully invested in the change in Addison and Luka. Other than that, I loved everything about this book. It was unputdownable.

This may have been my first book by Nikki Sloane, but it sure isn’t my last. As a matter of fact, when I finished this book, I bought her whole backlist. This is easily my favorite Dark book so far this year.

*Psst* Nikki Sloane. I want that scene you deleted. What's a girl gotta do to get to read that scene? Pretty please!

Half the book was just pure sex, but it was hot sex so there's that at least🤷 i would have liked seeing more dynamics between the hero and heroine, OUT of the bedroom though😅. Also, little less telling and a little more showing would have gone a long way too. I would have actually liked to experience her going back to school or the dinner with her family, instead of being told about it, so that was a let down. But other than that, I enjoyed this book overall and will be reading the next one.

“You’re so fucking perfect. It’s like you exist only for me.”

I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up this book. Obviously it's dark erotica, but the blurb felt vague. I figured it would be gritty and intense. Little did I know, I was about to embark on a marvelously turbulent ride. Riveting and fucked up, Sordid is a dark, decadent romance. Wrong on so many levels, I could not, for the life of me, put it down. I was intoxicated by this standalone novel that left me winded.

Nikki Sloane is practically a new to me author. I've only read one of her books prior to this and I did liked it. But Sordid is another level. It's not close to the Nikki Sloane I had read before. This one is salacious. Dysfunctional. Captivating.

It is NOT a book for sensitive readers.
Sexual consent issues are a HUGE part of this story.
It's taboo.
There's a healthy dose of violence.
IT IS A DARK ROMANCE!

“I control everything,” he said darkly, hunching over as he forced himself further in. “Even when you get to breathe.”

Luka Markovic is an anti-hero. He's not charming. He won't be winning awards for chivalry. He is not kind or tender. He can be in moments but those are few and far between. This man is wicked. He is almost a villain. He's certainly unlikable for a good portion of the book. He takes Addison, yanking her into his darkness unrepentantly.

Luka's world is cold and harsh. A sharp contrast from Addison's. His family is depraved. He's certainly a product of his environment. He is so intriguing though. His entire world is so dark it just sucks you in.

Two years prior Addison Drake had taken notice of Luka. He was the TA in her Calculous class. And for those last two years she's been harboring a small crush. One night she decides to go to a frat party. This isn't the norm for her. She's not a wild girl, but she needs a night out. At this party she sees Luka again. And from there things progress at the speed of light.

This book is no joke. I can't tell you how many times I had to practice deep breathing techniques. It's WHOA! It's hard to review, too, because I don't want to give up spoilers, but I'm telling you now, HOLD ON TIGHT! It's frigging wild!

I guess if I had one complaint, it's that there's too much sex. Now, I know what you're thinking. LOL! I'm always for sex sex sex. I love my sex. But with this very heavy situation that Addison and Luka find themselves in, I wished the plot had been meatier. The sex, although unbelievably well written and insanely hot, spanned too much of this book. And at times, toward the end, I almost wanted to skim just to get to the story!

After reflecting, I found that I just wanted more of Luka. I couldn't help myself. I fell for him even though I shouldn't. He's just... OMG. I wanted more of his family's background. More of him with his brother. More of him with his father. More with his uncle. I want to live that dynamic. He's an enthralling character and I felt as if we only ever got to skim the surface. Obviously, he's been exposed to some fucked up shit, but I didn't feel as though I got enough of his life. And that's what brought this story to a 4 star for me.

Other than that, this book was ON POINT. I loved it. Everything was well executed. It was impossible to put it down. And no matter how much it hurt, I was invested. I ate up the angst and torment gleefully. Addison's an easy character to love and connect to. Her reactions to what was happening felt natural.

I really LOVE these dark reads. I love the crazy plot lines. I love the men who are unstable and violent. Rough sex is so captivating. It's so my thing. I don't have any issues with the content of this book. I felt as if it was handled so well. And I was happy at the end. This author is a phenomenal writer. I look forward to more from her. I'm desperately hoping Vasilije gets his own book. I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE a deeper look into the crazy world of the Markovic's! They are just too wicked. And I'm totally captivated.

Overall, I'd DEFINITELY recommend Sordid to the dark romance reader. I guarantee you'll be hooked from the first to the last page! I was.

Title: Sordid
Author: Nikki Sloane
Category: Dark Romance
POV Heroine's POV
Characters: 4
Plot: 5
Scorching level: 4.5
HEA: Not telling

I love dark romance. It's my favorite genre and some of my favorite books belong to this genre. Sordid will take readers on a wild ride, that's for sure!
Addison is twenty one and studying for a medical degree. What happens when she meets Luka at a frat party?
She has seen him before but they never talked. Addison never approached him and he didn't seem to know that she existed.
The moment they see each other again, there is an instant pull between them but Addison can tell that there is something dark in Luka. His face is closed off and he wears a mask of concrete all the time. So, what Addison sees...is it the real Luka?

"You shouldn' be interested in a guy like me."
"What?"
"I'm not a nice guy."

Dear God. Their first scenes together are enthralling, dark and unexpected. Addison's crush will quickly go downhill because Luka is certainly not someone you'd like to be with in the darkness of a locked room.
One play of seduction goes horribly wrong when Luka pushes too far and ultimately steals everything from Addison.

That was when Luka Markovic ruthlessly stole from me what was supposed to be mine to give.

Her attraction is at once diminished but still, something remains.
What was supposed to be a night of fun for our reserved heroine, turns into a nightmare. Luka is hot and cold, you never know what he really wants. When Addison relizes that her life is now in his hands, all she can do is fight for survival.

Boundaries are pushed and lines get blurred. The book handles themes like date rape and it's full of dubious consent content.

Giving my trust and control over to this beautiful monster was so very wrong, but...shit, I liked it.

The story will give you whiplash, but it's a terrific tale of darkness and fear!

Hold on tight, people. Rough ride ahead.
Interesting concept and the author delivers with success a story that pushes the lines between right and wrong.
Enter the world of a warped relationship that can ruin everything it touches!
I simply loved it. I recommend it.

4.5 Stars!

Wth, I needed more ANGST!! 🥱

Luka’s dominating attitude felt contrived. He was wicked but not enough for my liking. 🤭💅🏼

Dark can't even describe this book.
The H is the h's Sophomore Math TA and she has a crush on him for a long time. She is smart and driven but timid and mousy.
They meet 2 years later at a party. They get drunk, he finds out she's a virgin and he pretty much rapes her. The rape scenes were very well done. They read like a cautionary tale.
The next day, she acknowledges she was raped and what does he do? Does he say he's sorry? Nope! He then proceeds to kidnap her because he is from the Serbian mafia and his family will kill her if she goes to the police.
She is held captive in his home and he basically conditions her to submit to him. This part gave me Taming of the shrew vibes.
The ending is obvious since this is a romance!!! WTF!!!

HOLY HELL! THIS WAS DARK AND TWISTED, BUT SOOO GOOD! 🔥🔥🔥

I love when authors write only single POV in books featuring psychopaths or just deranged heroes, because only a select few can tap into a mind of an Anti-Hero in a believable and organic maner. So I was happy only to experience this story from the heroine's perspective and to have a bit of a mystery surrounding the MMC.

This IS a dark book with a lot of triggers, so proceed with caution. But if you liked Sam Mariano's Untouchable and Descent, you'll LOVE THIS 🥵🔥🤣

I will say though, the ending was a bit...out of it? The thing that happened with the heroine's family was so unexpected and completely surprised me in a weird way. Plus their HEA was too cheesy for the story that it was 🤷🏼‍♀️

Man, I had high hopes for this one. Too bad, it didn't even get close.
Can someone explain what's so "dark" about this one?
The h has had a crush on the H for two years until she finally has a chance to talk to him at a frat party. They chat, play and drink.
Then, the H takes her to his room where they fool around and have sex. For those of you with a trigger, the H does rape her.
Anyway, after that, the H says she can't leave his house because she'll go to the police and he can't risk that. So, of course, the h is pissed but, for some reason, her body can't help itself and enjoys whatever the H does to her.
I stopped reading after that. It's not "dark" at all.
There is some non consensual scenes but the h is confused and is not sure if she's okay with it.
Also, the writing and being inside the h's head was not the best.
This one was miss for me.

Perfect little Addison.” His voice mocked disapproval.
“Talking to her parents while I’ve got my head between her thighs, licking her sweet pussy.” His thrust caused my eyes to roll back into my head. “Were you worried they’d find out what I’ve done to their good girl?” With my eyes closed, it made his voice sound treacherous. “That you’re not a virgin anymore?”

I used to think Fear Me by B.B. Reid is the book that has the most non-consensual sex scenes but this book proved me wrong. (I enjoyed fear me even though it's controversial) anyway, back to this book, There is no character development. Luca kidnaps Addison because he isn't good at romance or something.

You aren't good at dating doesn't give you the right to drug, rape, and kidnap a girl. And then she falls for him like every other kidnap books. Luca is part of the Siberia mafia but his name is Italian.

He doesn't want anything to do with the mafia so he leaves the mafia world at the end as if it's very easy. Do the authors think the readers are dumb? I know it's a fiction but, is it easy to detach yourself from the mob? On top of that, his uncle is the mob head.

The whole book is filled with sex. It would have been steamy and erotic, if only it was consensual. 90%sex scene isn't and it just didn't work out for me. The hero drugs and rapes the heroine. Which is a big turn off for me. I liked Addison at first because she actually tried to fight but after halfway she became delusional. The only good thing is the writing style of the author.

4.5 pleasure or choke stars

Mother. Fucking. Damn.

I LOVED this book. This is that one book that satisfies every single twisted and vile fantasy of mine. When I started the book, I knew somehow that I was either going to love it or hate it. And I am most relieved that it fell into the first category.

Nikki Sloane certainly has a way to her writings.

Addison, a young pre-med, was assaulted and raped (yep, she was) at a party by the man she crushed on for the longest time- Luca. Initially she was attracted towards him because she thought they were like each other, but after the party, she was taken a hostage by him, so she couldn't contact the authorities to tell them about him and endanger his family business.

The one thing I liked about Addison was that she wasn't some delusional damsel in distress thinking that her captor would turn a leaf and save her life. She saw Luca for what he was, and fought back in her own way.

And Luca, where do I even get started with him? He was psychotic, cruel, evil, obsessive and so damn possessive. And I loved him so fucking much (because yes, I am completely insane). He was a man who knew what he wanted, and took it, consequences be damned. And he wanted Addison.

I don't say that what he did was correct, because it was not. Rape, in any circumstance is not excusable, and he basically does accept what he did to Addison, but tries to make things right for her so that she does not suffer further. Redemption in the eyes of the victim is what he got, and I am satisfied. Not going to say anything else about it.

Their relationship was seriously so unexpected. I did not see half the things coming in the book, mostly because I was lost in the words of the author. My favorite scene was when Luca asks her the name of the man she loves and she says that she is not allowed to lie. Man, his reaction suddenly made this entire book real to me. Fuck, I love that part.

This book was hot, dirty, raw and it completely ravished me. I have to read others by this author.

"I’d looked at him so long ago and wanted him to do bad things to me, and he had. Making me fall in love with him was the worst of all."

Why the crazy ones are always named Luka

An alternative title for this book:
💀Raped at a party
💀Kidnapped and raped by a mafia man
💀Kidnapped and raped and drugged but still, I fell in love and it wasn't Stockholm syndrome

I was reading and stopped to get some water from the kitchen and come back and resumed reading and bam the hero is trying to drown the heroine 😑

Wet hair was plastered to my forehead, so I took one of my hands off of him and slowly, calmly, reached up to wipe the strands out of my eyes. Giving him a good, hard look at my defiant glare. That’s right. There’s no answer coming from me.
“Son of a bitch,” he snarled.
A shallow breath was all I could suck in before he shoved my head down under the water

I was confused for a moment, but then I remembered that I'm reading a dark romance and
💣everything is possible 💣

I know dark romance most of the time equals non-consent, it's fiction after all, but the constant rape and the atmosphere was very close to the crime documentaries I watch and the chicken that I am never sleep after watching them.😭

I never had problems with dubious consent or non-consent ( hello one of my favorite books boyfriend is carter from Untouchable)
But Luka needs jail time and some very non-consensual anal sex 💀
but the biggest sin that Luka committed was being dry and very basic, no romance hero should be dry also mafia men are supposed to be interesting to read, but Luka is the exception apparently.

Not to sound like a broken record, I love anti-heroes but they need to have some redeeming qualities or at least be funny for me to like them and get over their bad behaviors.

And now lets roast the heroine or lets not
The poor girl had enough stuff happen to her in the books, no need for criticism, she got enough issues for lifelong therapy.

I'm just gonna do a reread of untouchable, carter is the only rapist antihero I like.

Mah.

This was a 4 stars read for me until those last two chapters. I enjoyed pretty much everything till Luka decided to be a phucking coward and goad his brother into killing their father because he didn’t have the balls to do it himself. Same brother he swore he has been protecting all his life. Selfish Asshole! And not the heroine thinking he’s a “good” person because he didn’t pull the trigger himself

There are no words for how much I hated and loved luka lol

That first time scene. Woooooo. He legit said “just the tip” basically and then slammed all the way home and told her she was insane for crying r*pe as he toes a belt around her neck. Yeah. My kind of book.

2 enthusiastic thumbs up for me.

I like that he pined for her smart bath loving self too and I love his madness.

All girls need a little madness w their love lol

On to the next!
