Police chief John "Mac" McAndrews is on a mission to find the perfect mother for his daughter. Someone who will stay home, welcome his child after school and bake cookies. Obviously, Holly Hoffman is not that woman. She's still as feisty, independent and headstrong as she'd been when they were teenagers. And she's just spent every last dime opening the Wildflower coffee bar. Mac would never ask her to give up her brand-new business. Still, he can't help dropping by the shop whenever he gets the chance, fanning old flames he should be dousing instead.
I loved this book. Being from central Pennsylvania myself, I enjoyed the local references to towns and universities and nature that are familiar to me. Mac and Holly seem made for each other, but they need to find their priorities and make the best home for the little girl they both love. Will they find love after all?
I really enjoyed this story of two people who are trying to make new starts in their lives. They have to learn to let go of the bad parts of the past and keep the good. Loved little Riley and the horses.
Wanted: The Perfect Mom is a lovely will-they/won’t they story. Just what you need for a relaxing summer’s day, or wrapped in a blanket in front of the fire. T.R. McClure has a special talent for bringing the little details alive, making it a cozier-than-cozy read.
This book was hard for me to finish, but I powered through it. It had very little character or plot development and the scenes seemed to change with very little notice or lead in. Half the time I was confused as to what was happening. And don’t get me started on the H “looking” only for a good mom for his daughter...
Well-written enjoyable easy read. Mac and Holly remember that passionate kiss back in high school years ago before they headed off in different directions. And like a class reunion, it reminded me of what it would be like to go back. What might their meeting again unexpectedly mean for them? I could smell the coffee brewing as friends and family gathered in Holly's small town coffee shop. The cookies and coffee flowed freely and drove me crazy with cravings, wanting to head to the nearest Starbucks to savor the ambience. I appreciated that a child's need for mothering and the love of horses helped to mend hurting hearts. Reading this felt like watching a Hallmark movie. If you like the kind of story where everything goes well and only happy endings need apply, this book is for you. The Strongest Bond: A Memoir
