I wasn't very sympathetic towards Ben and his outrageous behaviors. I don't believe that having a mental illness or autism excuses behavioral problems. He needs to learn how to deal with the world--and having adults fawn over him and making excuses for his behavior or providing special allowances seems detrimental to his emotional and mental growth. Ben seems to never get punished for his inexcusable behaviors. Slapping a grown woman because he didn't get everything on his Christmas list doesn't realistically get solved with a "sorry" and going back to playing with Legos. No one is going to make these kinds of concessions for him as an adult just because he has autism.

When Ben threw such an explosive tantrum because of his missing toy that Dean had to leave work to find and deliver it was absolutely inexcusable and it was the last straw for me in this fic. No parent can realistically do this, and no child should be groomed to expect this of a parent. Ben needs to learn how to deal with the world without using his stuffed toy as a crutch, or he shouldn't get one at all.

And yes, I have dealt with people who have autism before, so I don't want to hear any comments about me "not really knowing what it's like." I've lived with autistic family members my whole life.

Great start, but about a third of the way through, my patience started to wear thin. With Ben, with the long-winded story that drags on like honey, with Dean... I was annoyed and sorry when the author decided to have Castiel break up with Will practically just because, after all, this story MUST end as a DESTINY. It didn't make sense, and I actually would have preferred if in this case Castiel and Dean had ended not as a couple, but simply as friends who both care about Ben but are each happy with a completely different life partner. And Ben... yes, autism and all, but I agree with Lindsay's review.)
