Hilarious, but sad when you think about it
June 24, 2019
Following President Trump's recent visit to the United Kingdom I thought it an opportune moment to read some of his earlier comments on such things as immigration, global warming, romance and his rivals for the presidency. It was worth the read just to see how sometimes off-the-wall his comments can be and I debated whether it was a two or three-star read. I decided on the latter because, bizarre though some of his comments are, it did, occasionally, raise a smile … particularly if things weren't taken too seriously!
And mention of taking things seriously, the one comment that does spring to mind when reading some of these quotes is that famous one of John McEnroe, 'You can't be serious' … but, rather like that tennis umpire he is serious!
He spares nobody, for instance on the re-election of President Obama he said, 'We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty.' Of Ronald Reagan he said that he was a smooth operator and won over the American people before adding, 'Only now, seven years later, are people beginning to question whether there's anything beneath that smile.' And, away from politics he singled out Cher, saying, 'Cher is somewhat of a loser. She's lonely. She's unhappy. She's very miserable.' Thanks for that!
On running for president he said, 'Nobody thought I was going to run. They said, "Why would he run? He's got a great life, he's got a beautiful family, he's got a great company."' And, offering an answer to this he commented elsewhere, 'I love my business. I didn't want to do this. I just see our country as going to hell. And I felt I had to do it.' And even then he was thinking of his 'Make America Great' slogan now being used for his 2020 re-election campaign when he said, 'We're going to have so many victories, you will be bored of winning.' Well, he did say before being elected president, 'I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created. I tell you that.'
Gender relationship, women in Hollywood, television shows, the environment, his (false) modesty, Kim Jong-un - even before he met him - ('We have this mad guy ...'), and many more diverse subjects come under scrutiny from Mr Trump. Admittedly some are quite amusing, even sometimes (albeit very rarely) self-deprecating such as ' I get up, take a shower, and wash my hair. Then I read the newspapers and watch the news on television, and slowly the hair dries. It takes about an hour. I don't use a blow-dryer. Once it's dry I comb it. Once I have it the way I like it - even though nobody else likes it - I spray it and it's good for the day.' I must confess, I did always wonder how it happened!
But we must always remember his views on winning as he says, 'If you don't win you can't get away with it. And I win, I win, I always win. In the end, I always win, whether it's in golf, whether it's in tennis, whether it's in life, I just always win. And I tell people I always win, because I do.' And with that statement in mind, get your money on Mr Trump being re-elected in 2020!

This is scary.
I had heard some of the quotes before but some of them were new to me. I wouldn't trust a man who thinks like this to run a whelk stall.
True horror lies within these pages.

How to end this shitty year of 2020? By reading about an equally shitty person.
This was a christmas gift (I also got Obama's Promised Land, just to balance it out), I know it was a joke gift because everyone who knows me, knows I hate Trumpet, but it instead of laughing at the garbage that falls out of his mouth, I was either angry or upset (upset that people actually think this guy is a) a great leader and b) mentally stable).
I feel like I needed a shower after finishing this, his comments are just either gross or they strip a few brain cells from you. This guy is obsessed with big things; big this, big that, like boy, you compensating for something, or what? The bragging? Ooph, it's everywhere. His obsession with money and success (that was handed to him on a gold & diamond encrusted plater) is borderline insane. His comments about his daughter are disgusting. His racism, homophobia and sexism are just on another level.
I don't like hating on people, but he's the one person that I hate on a molecular level. This book just summed up everything I hate in a person.
But silver lining? He got the boot from being president. Trumpet: The One Term Loser.
I feel a lot of people gave this book 1 star because of Trumpet's comments but I feel that reflects badly on the people who compiled and put together this book. I can't imagine what it was like having to sift through his verbal diarrhoea to put this book together. I would say I'd like to have had a little analyse after each comment but that's just the psychology lover in me.

Although it was written in the run up to the 2016 presidential election, The Little Book of Trumpisms provides a lot of memorable quotes by Donald Trump ranging from the 80s up until his latest campaign.
Many of the quotes sound bizarre without context, but the majority of them sound ludicrous even with context.
You can see how his showman persona has influenced his administration style throughout the various categories portrayed in the book, ranging from foreign policy to Hillary Clinton.
I feel his term as president has provided even more insane quotes. So much so that, even after only 4 years, this book feels incredibly outdated.

It didn't feel like much of an accomplishment to finish this, but man, was it funny.
And scary. Really scary.

A very entertaining and hilarious book. Trump has the best quotes, after Nassim Taleb and Mike Tyson. The only problem is that it is rather old (2016) in terms of Trump's political career, and is missing many good ones such as "cos you'll be in jail" and "try getting it out".

Funny yet horrifying especially since everything was said before he was elected and he still got elected anyway.

So funny reading statements followed by so many contradictions. Great funny little read.

Funnier than a book on Clintonisms no doubt. Madness!

Book 19 - Compiled by Seth Millstein - The Little book of Trumpisms
I wrote this review back in September 2020…several weeks before the US election…thank goodness some common sense prevailed
Ok, I have tried, it is an election year in the good ol’ US of A and so I had had this book on the shelf for a while. I won’t say much but quote the ‘great” man himself
“You can’t con people, at least for long...But if you don’t deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on.” Trump: The art of the deal
Dear goodness, I hope the US catch on this year...
In this crazy world…who knew what was going to happen in the 20 months since…we can only be hopeful we won’t see his like in politics again…even if…some may say there is worse going on in Russia

I think it’s really unfair to take the mickey out of a sitting president, I’m sure he’s trying his best!
An easy 30 minutes read -reading age 8-10, that’s the book not the president, obviously, who by his own declaration is high IQ.

How someone can be bothered to collect quotes from the president elect is beyond me, but then we all like different things.

And he’s been voted President!
