Criminal Psychology: Understanding the Mental Disorders That Power the Psychopathic Behaviour Through Criminal Profiling

Rate this book
Understand the mental disorders that power the psychopathic behaviour through criminal profiling.
What makes criminals tick?
Why do a majority of us have a deeply cultivated instinct to act kindly, while others pursue the opposite?

The answer to this and other questions lies in understanding the mind.

When it comes to analyzing criminals and psychos, one thing we know for sure is that the problem lies in their psychology. There has to be a reason they are criminals, and this reason most definitely lies in the nature of their thinking.

This book examines the mental disorders that corrupt the minds of these outcasts and attempts to explain various things that lead to the development of psychopathic tendencies. It is also written in prose simple enough for you to understand and compare.

What You'll Learn:
Why people commit crimes
Spotting criminals in a normal setting
Understanding psychopaths and their enchantment with crimes
Difference between psychopaths and sociopaths
Mental illness and crime

Awful and offensive

This is one of the most offensive books I have read. As a person with a masters in psychology, I can confidently say that there is nothing academic or worth learning in this book. Seriously, lose and baggy clothing as a sign of psychopathy and criminal behavior...face and neck tattoos...thirsty eyes??? It's ridiculous and blatant stereotypical b.s.. The best part of this book was the length; it's very short.

Incorrect on many things.

Poor quality. Incorrect information. Author did not claim to be an expert, and obviously wasn't. Did not care for it.

Eric Cruise knows so little about mental illness that he inevitably makes all forms of mental illness & personality disorders into 'psychopathy'. He then proceeds to demonize mental illness by making claims that all mentally ill become criminals and complains about people who speak up against the demonization of the mentally ill. (News flash, Eric, the mentally ill are more likely to be victims of a crime then the perpetrator.)

Eric also claims that baggy clothing and tattoos automatically mean criminal, he so heavily enforces stereotypes to a degree that makes me assume he genuinely has no knowledge of what he's talking about.

Interesting read

Author has put the content in small readable chunks and paras. Quite a bit of content sort of summarized in a few pages

Very informative

Great information that doesn't drone on and on with any particular subject. It was very easy to follow along and read.

Crime

Mental disorder must be assessed in association with the criminal. We need to have more mental institutions for these types
