Pregnant Claudia Monticello hops into a lift with Dr. Patrick Spencer, where they exchange a terse conversation before the lift gets stuck and Claudia goes into labour. Good thing a doctor is with her! He delivers the babies safely, but Claudia suffers post-natal bleeding and is raced to hospital. She's okay, and Patrick finds himself drawn to her and the babies, wanting to protect them.

The big obstacle for Claudia is that she was abandoned by the birth father, who she didn't know was married. She's not sure she can trust men, and doesn't want to rely on one when so much is at stake. Patrick his distanced himself from love because his sister died during childbirth twelve years earlier and his family blamed him. Almost the exact same conflict as Matteo from the previous book! Claudia wants to return to London, but Patrick never does.

Unlike, Matteo from the previous book, Patrick's actions are consistent and his love for Claudia believable. Although he may think he is reluctant to love, he is there for Claudia and the twins, and actions speak louder than words! Plus, he doesn't treat her like crap. He gets his chance to play martyr later, but thankfully it's towards the end of the book, and Claudia actually says to him: "That's so dramatic! Indeed, Claudia, indeed. Remember what genre you're in, honey!

Likewise, it's easy to understand why Claudia would be reluctant to place trust in a man when she's fended for herself for so long and now has two babies to think about as well. Both characters were likable. The headjumping, sometimes within the same paragraph, was a bit confusing. I always thought that was a big, standard writing no-no! It made for pleasant reading, but didn't quite carry the oomph that a good romance would. The opening chapters in the lift were quite gripping, however!

Ms. Hampton draws you into her story from the moment you flip to page one. Twin Surprise for the Single Doc is a vibrant, heartfelt and emotionally intense book brought to life through compelling prose and expressive characterization. Claudia Monticello and Patrick Spencer’s stories will tug at your darn heartstrings! I was emotional when I read that elevator scene. But wow! Claudia and Patrick’s story isn’t a smooth journey. The obstacles thrown in their paths test the limits of their strength and endurance. In the end love wins and for me it is all that matters—a happy ever after which overcomes the bumpy journey it takes to get to that rewarding and fitting ending!

This story was too unbelievable and so not a success for me.
The holier than thou attitude of the female protagonist, setting herself as some sort of paragon of virtue the male protagonist had to be like, her inability to say "I'm sorry" when she realised she'd been repeatedly rude to someone who was trying to help her, the male protagonist bending over backwards to help and accommodate a woman who gave him nothing but rejection and a prickly attitude. Come on, it's just too far fetched.
In real life, when people open up about something very painful in their past, if you reject them because their actions did not meet your standards, they won't come after you. This male protagonist was impervious to rejection and a bad attitude, coming from someone he continued to go out of his way to accommodate and help. The author didn't give a good enough reason why the male protagonist did not give up on a woman who from their first conversation would've been unpalatable to most guys. Instant connection?
Men don't keep chasing after proud women with high walls, a prickly attitude and 2 newborns. Even if he connected with the babies because he delivered them, his love for the female protagonist was too far fetched.
The 'independent woman' paint the author tried to use in building the female protagonist's character was also illogical. Rejecting financial help from the biological father who didn't want to have anything to do with his children (the trust fund was her children's right to a good start in life, not hers). She didn't have much funds, nobody to depend on, wanted to stay in an apartment in a gang-run area, far from the hospital she would have to visit every day.
Let's be honest, in real life, she would've been in a very bad situation trying to take care of 2 pre-term babies alone. Women struggle taking care of one premmie without any support from family but twins? Going to London seemed to be her solution to everything. What was waiting in London? Funds? Housing? If she was an intern in California, I don't imagine she'd accumulated much savings to afford living in London with two babies. Her sister was volunteering half way across the world, not much help there either. How was she going to juggle everything alone? Have you ever travelled long distance with a baby... now imagine a pan atlantic flight with twins. Come on, that's wild.
The female protagonist had no solid, logical plans. How could she have been able to afford staying in a hotel like she was insisting on, as she kept rejecting help? More foolish pride than common sense is no good when you have 2 babies depending on you and little in the way of financial stability.
The author should've made the female character less foolish and flighty, and the male character more like a realistic man rather than like a woman's best friend.

This is one of those stories that you will pick up fall into and not want to put down till the end it is beautifully written ticking all the boxes for what makes a great medical story with hope, love and a smile.

Claudia Montecello is a twin and very close but very different to her twin sister Harriet, Claudia jumps in feet first she is the risk taker and hence she is living and working in Los Angeles where she meets a guy falls for him and also falls pregnant but is then abandoned having twins. Claudia is planning on returning to England to have her babies and accepts that being a single Mum will work for her but a few days before she is to leave The States things go wrong in an elevator of all places and Claudia and her babies are left in the hands of a complete stranger although a gorgeous caring stranger who knows what he is doing.

Dr Patrick Spencer is an ex Brit living in Los Angeles since everything went wrong in his life with his family a tragedy that caused lots of heartache, he was a promising obstetrician but gave that up moved to LA and became a plastic surgeon he keeps to himself wanting a wife and family is not on his list working hard is but when a pregnant woman goes into early labour in a broken down elevator having twins everything comes back to him and he does what he can to save Claudia and the boys lives even if they did get off to a bad start.

I highly recommend this story the journey to their HEA is filled with ups and downs but they are so drawn to each other there is a pull that neither can deny for long and they are so good for each other helping with emotions, yes pick this one up sit back and enjoy there will be lots of emotions for you to enjoy but you will be smiling with the epilogue when Claudia and her twin Harriet are all together with such an extended family.

Claudia Montecello and Dr. Patrick Spencer don't know each other(at least not yet) but both have a lot in common.  Claudia is a twin but a complete opposite of her sister Harriet which a lot of times gets her in too deep.  The deep is falling in love thinking it will be forever, ending up pregnant with twins and so called forever walks out the door.  Patrick Spencer leaves England gives up his obstetrician position and moves to LA trying to start over after a family tragedy.  Put both of these in an broken elevator and with Claudia in labor.   Thankfully she is stuck with the right person to deliver her twins.  Ms. Hampton is right on with the emotions and the wonderful end where Claudia is again with her twin.  Lovely story one not to miss
