Arrhythmias produce abnormal heart rhytms, or alterations of the cardiac impulse conduction. When this happens, the frequency or the site where the stimulus is provided can become affected. Ischemic cardiopathy, any kind of heart failure, Chagas´ disease, and the so called arrhythmogenic syndromes (preexcitation syndrome, mitral valve prolapse, hypertrophic cardiomyophaty, long QT syndrome etc.) are the most common causes of arrhytmias in our environment.
