Frosted Sweets by AM Willard is a fun standalone romantic comedy with a whole host of characters that kept me laughing and reading from cover to cover. I love the southern twist Willard's characters had and how each one had their own unique personality. Frosted Sweets is a quick lighthearted read that is perfect for anyone who likes a romance filled with fun.

A cute love story about a baker. This is the beginning of the love stories of 4 women. Natasha, the lawyer, Frankie, the photographer, Zara, the hippie and the heroine of this story, Morgan, the baker.
Morgan is set to walk down the aisle for her fairy tale wedding when she finds the prince playing tongue hockey with another woman. Wedding is off, enter Jayden. He is handsome and instantly interested. Yeah, there’s a bit of insta-love, which is one of my pet peeves, although a small one. But, there were a few small irritants that kept the stars down a bit for me.
Little things, like Morgan puts a pot on to boil for tea, then goes off for some hanky panky. All through the sex scene I kept worrying about that pot. What if it starts a fire? 🔥
Anyway, it’s a cute love story. 😊

Have you ever heard or met a baker who is allergic to chocolate? Polka Dot Cafe & Bakery owner knows her face would suffer once she takes a bite of her chocolate flavored wedding cake, but no matter. It's chocolate! And this kind of tasty sweet is meant to be devoured, right?

Well, how about when she discover something awful about her groom, moments before their wedding? If I were her, that's the right time to indulge and feast on chocolates! To hell with those allergies!

Pastry chef and bakery owner Morgan found her pillar of support through Natasha, Zara and Frankie, and when these 4 ladies are together, expect a lot of hilarious adventures and sweet moments as they embark on finding that one true love.

I enjoyed this book because it was light and celebratory. Morgan proved that she was quite capable of handling herself, her career and her future. Her love life needed that extra boost and I'm glad she had her friends with her. Natasha, Zara and Frankie also had their own stories in the book and they were all fundamental in finding their happily ever after. The book was well written and the characters were awesome. Would love to read all of A.M. Willard's books!

This was an O.K. read though the blurb made the story seem much more interesting than the book itself was. Why?! Because the book didn't seem to have a low or high point and was too wishy-washy for me. The story was all over the place. Megan couldn't make up her mind and her soon-to-be or not-to-be husband did something bad but it never felt that way and everything was over really quickly without real emotions.

Thoughts: (Some light spoilers ahead!)
In the beginning we never get to know Simon though he and Megan would get married in a few days. Then she sees him with another woman and calls everything off. There’s no real fight, no real tears or breakdown. A few bits and pieces are scattered throughout the story since she can't really make up her mind at what she wants. Jayden seems like an on and off guy for her but they hit it off pretty quickly even though they don’t know each other at all and never even dated. Jayden also can't decide what he wants. What’s going on? People! Make up your minds! He's as bad as Megan in deciding what to want.

I couldn't really connect with the characters and Megan often annoyed me. She didn't seem sad at what happened and it felt as if she didn't care at all about what her ex did. I can't remember how long she's been with Simon but she wrote him off pretty quickly. Megan realized that he wasn't her soulmate or kind of always knew that. Why did she want to marry him at all when she felt like this?

Some aspects of the story seemed to be thrown in to make it more interesting but not all of them really fit in IMHO. Megan suddenly had 3 guys rooting for her all at once and I think that Nick was just weird and too much.

All in all it was still a nice read with some fun parts though I wasn't into it as much because there was a lot going on with all of the friends and it felt like Megan's story was not the main story.
I think the book would have been better with the different POVs of the girls and their stories as well or more of Megan and less of her friends.

It was a pity that Jayden never really got his POV. We know more about him from the blurb than we get to know in the book. Or did I miss something out?

I think that this story had a lot of potential that it didn't fully use. Which is sad. I believe I would have liked it more with the different POVs and all stories told because now it seemed like no real story. And in the end I felt like Megan and Jayden's story deserved better. It just had no real ending.

What a sweet (pun intended) book. I was immediately captivated into Morgan's story from the very first page, and instantly cared about her and her friends. I loved watching Morgan change and grow. But my favorite part was how this story was more then just romance. I loved how the book also focused on Morgan's friends. And what a wonderful cast of characters they were! I'm delighted to know will have their own books as this series continues!

Warning - don't read this book if you are on a diet because you will be craving cake and cupcakes!

This is a sinfully sweet read

Morgan is on top of the world. Her life is perfect. Shes living her dream by owning and running her bakery. She's planning the perfect wedding and has the perfect dress. Only one thing is missing and that's the faithful groom. Now she's questioning her life and what she wants.

Jayden has just discovered a new bakery with the sweetest treats and a delicious owner. He is instantly addicted to both.

This story was definitely sweet and funny. The characters are loveable and the story kept me engaged. Kudos to AM Willard for writing such a delightful book.

4.5 Star Review of Frosted Sweets (A Taste of Love Series #1) by A.M. Willard

This is book one in the A Taste of Love series. A.M. Willard is a new author to me and one I cannot believe I have not read before. This is the story of Morgan Lewis and Jayden

This book was a pleasure to read. I really enjoyed A.M. Willard’s writing style. The characters were easy to relate to and “real”. Morgan is frantically planning her wedding when life strikes and the rug is pulled from right under her. Her friends all rally around to support her and help her through the drama and trauma of an ill-fated wedding.

Enter, Jayden Rivers, a man who is focused on his career and not love. The attraction that Morgan and Jayden feel towards each other is almost instantaneous, a fact that concerns Morgan since she only just broke up with her fiancé. Her ex-fiancé Simon is a nuisance and determined to disrupt the sparks that fly between Morgan and Jayden and then there is Nick who is also interested in her.

Add in the Christmas season and owning a successful up and coming bakery and life is certainly complicated for Morgan since she became single again.

The friendship between the four women Morgan, Zara, Francesca (Frankie) and Natasha shows a true sisterhood and that family is not necessarily always related by blood. I really enjoyed their interaction.
This is a contemporary romantic comedy, a genre I thoroughly enjoy and A.M. Willard has done a great job with Frosted Sweets.

I am looking forward to reading all the ladies stories and cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Wow, this is one sweet romantic story. I loved it. It's a must read contemporary romance novel. Morgan is quirky, funny, clumsy, and romantic woman. She owns a bakery and loves to bake. Unfortunately, she is allergic to chocolate. Which makes life a little difficult for her since she can't taste her own chocolate treats. Her bakery is famous among the people of her town. Who doesn't love sweets.

Anyhow life is kind of in a rut for her these days. Her fiance is cheating on her and now she must break off the engagement so near her wedding. This makes her mother angry with her but she will have to deal with it.Oddly enough she is more annoyed than heart-broken.

So it is at this stage in her life when she meets Jayden. And now she can't get him out of her mind. He is everything she dreams in a guy. He likes her baking, he likes her, and most importantly her friends like him. In short he is a perfect man. But is she ready to date again? Oh, and let's not forget Nick, another perfect guy who asks her out. Right now it is very difficult for her to decide what or rather who she wants in her life. May be both....

The story revolves around Morgan and her friends. It is a heart-warming romance, definitely worth reading. I quite enjoyed it and now I can't wait for the next book in this tasty series.

Review by Lisa Kane

Adorable, funny read about 4 girls on the cusp of turning 30 looking for love. Frosted Sweets introduces us to Morgan, Natasha, Zara and Frankie. But the main story focuses on Morgan. She's about to marry her long time lawyer hot shot boyfriend Simon. On her way to work she runs into a good looking guy who is lost. She steers him to the right direction. But we the reader know this guy is going to be pivotal to the story. In real life, I never seem to run into the good looking lost guy I gave directions to...

After work one night Morgan is strolling along, minding her own business when she sees something that makes her question everything. She ends up calling off her wedding.
Simon is one true douche canoe and seems unable to accept that things are over. In the meantime, Morgan's bakery is booming. In the midst of all the chaos, the good looking guy comes in to pick up the office goodies. Seems he's the new employee and the designated pick up guy.

Morgan and Jayden (he's no longer the anonymous good looking guy with no name) play a little cat and mouse game. There's lots of confusion over the status of her engagement, jealous encounters with ex's and some ramblings in the middle of allergic reactions.

Frosted Sweets has set up the story for the next three characters. This is a sweet treat of a read. Cupcakes not included.

Favorite Quotes:

“Is this too soon to be sitting across the table from Nick having dinner when I just broke off a long-term relationship with Simon? Screw that, he’s been putting his penis in other people, and I should be allowed to move along with the plan.”

“Did he have a small penis? That’s usually why men don’t like to shower with women,”

“Morgan, you’re going to be the worst and the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

My Review:

Frosted Sweets is a delightful, quick, light, and fun read. Morgan runs a successful bakery, but has disastrous luck when she attempts to reinvent herself after catching her cheating fiancé 2 weeks before her wedding. The writing was comfortable, easy to follow, and humorous. I enjoyed the quirky characters as well as the story line. The final chapters gave a nice glimpse as to the direction the subsequent books will take in featuring the other characters in the friend circle – and while they look rather tasty – I doubt they could be as sweet as my favorite “little baker.”

This book follows the characters Morgan and Jayden on there journey to finding love. You also get to know more about Morgan's friends and how there lives are going which was really nice to me and made me enjoy this book even more. Morgan is the owner of a bakery and a very hopefull romantic but she sure did make me laugh out loud in some parts. Jayden was my favorite character that guy was so sweet, caring and sexy it's easy to fall for him. I really enjoyed Frosted Sweets it's the first book in the Taste of Love series by A.M. Willard and also the first book I've read by this author. The book was very well written and easy to read and follow along with. The only complaint I had was how it ended because it leaves you hanging and personally I don't like that. But it is part of a series and book 2 Sugary Sweets is out now which I will be starting next. So I'm happy that I don't have to wait to see how this book is going to continue. Overall this book was a sweet romance with a little bit of spice added in. I would recommend this to anyone who like romance to give this series a chance.

Nearly stopped reading so many times but I kept thinking “it has to get better.” The main female character is so whiny and annoying. At times it seems the author wants to make her an independent feminist icon and then immediately we’re having flashbacks to 1957. There are no nice transitions between these mood swings either...I kept thinking I would get whiplash. The internal dialogs get really old and so many things just make no sense.

There’s virtually no character development. We learn practically nothing about the four friends and the three male relationships in the book for the main female MC are fleshed out either. The plot points make little sense (a mother who divorced her husband for cheating tries to talk her daughter into going back to her cheating fiancé?)

The writing is amateurish and the proofreading and editing is lacking. And the book doesn’t even have an ending...it’s a to be continued.

Save your time and money.

This a sweet romance, with good friends, a few twists and turns, and cake!

Morgan runs a cupcake and coffee shop, she loves it. She is to be married in less than two weeks, has the dress all ready, all the party favours and place cards ready, she just needs the happy ever after. However things don't always go as you think they will. Jayden is concentrated on his career, but he has a sweet tooth, which is how he meets Morgan and there is an immediate attraction. Read on...

I enjoyed this story, it was sweet and romantic. I like Jayden and Morgan, and Morgan's friends. It was well written and a good read to curl up with on a cold evening with a glass of wine.

I look forward to reading the follow up stories about Morgan's three best friends.

What's better than a love triangle? Try 3 men vying for the attention of a woman! One who is possessive and a liar, one who is nothing but a player and then there is HIM, the One!
Frosted Sweets has 4 female friends who will go to the ends of the earth and back for each other. The friends help each other through everything life throws at them. The women are strong, independent, sensitive and all feeling. Prestigious career holders and know what they want to obtain in life., or do they?
A.M. Willard shows how quickly life can change your wants into your hidden dreams.
A 5 star read full of plot twists, new found loves, dreams and chances we all face.

Love this book

This book had a lot going on but I loved getting to know all the girlfriends and what's happening with them. You have Morgan who own the sweet shop and has a wedding to plan but things happen with her....you'll have to read it to find out. Then there's Zara who works with Morgan and Natasha who's a big time lawyer and doesn't have time for anyone and Frankie who's a photographer. They all have things going on with them and there's never a dull moment with this group. Read the book to see what happens with them all!!
Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Happy reading!!!

4 cupcake stars!

Jayden & Morgan are the cutest cupcake couple. She bakes them and he eats them. With lots of ups and downs, like an ex fiancé who doesn't get the hint, Willard takes us on a journey of sweet love.

This book was so cute & adorable. I loved the entire cast and can't wait to read each of their stories.
The only drawback was that I found myself skimming at points, but all in all this book is a sweet read frosted with a happily ever after.

I wanna give the start more than 2, but the end deserves far less.

Grrr... It started well. Fairly normal woman heading for her fairy tale that's about to go wrong... which will be lucky, because her real fairy tale is just walking thru the door etc. It was pretty heavy on the mis-communications and dumb for the story mentality type stuff, & an increasing number of convenient bits that pop up and then vanish, with no regards to how they are written into the book, but it was still enjoyable for the most part in the first half or so.

Somehow, the h had actually spent years with her antiH and not realised that neither of them gave a damn about the other, knew a thing about the other, or had the slightest interest in the other. The antiH saw her as an almost acceptable Step-Ford Wife (SFW) who would be cut and moulded into the perfect stepford wife after the wedding, with no thought to the pain and suffering it would cause her, because he simply didn't give a shit. She was an accessory. Asshole right! But our h wasn't a hell of a lot better. She was so focused on her fairy tale that she barely listened to him when he repeatedly made 'SFW' comments (like her selling her baking business - which is almost another limb to her personality, or her new social routines and friends etc), because she was stuck on 'my fairy tale would never really expect me to go thru with that'. And much later in the book (when it truly disintegrates), more and more comes out that they really spent no time together and knew nothing about each other, but they were getting married! Anyway.

Now, our antiH is caught cheating and still expects his future SFW to get her ass down the aisle. So does her mother (who's another convenient character who really has no place in the book). When that doesn't work, the antiH starts showing up places and tells people she's his fiancée (all the while, he's continued to date other people), and she can have her fun but she's 'his' and he's found someone to buy her business!?! Again, he's more of a convenience than anything else as he's never really part of the flow, just the 'drama', but while they have it out a few times and he escalates in aggression when she refuses to play SFW and follow orders now that she's woken up from her fairy tale daze, she never really deals with him. He's throwing threats and bailing her up in public and telling everyone she's lousy in bed and she just kind of says jerk and wanders off? At the very least, why isn't she pointing out that there's not many woman who bother to get worked up over a once on Sunday's schedule and it's easier to take care of herself when his five minutes are up type thing? Besides, he's a big lawyer and a public name, if she's against antagonising him, why isn't she asking his advise on what she should take with her to file for a restraining order... she'd hate to think of the partners, colleagues, clients & opposition seeing sloppy records coming up every time they googled him? But no, he's just there when he's there, and forgotten when he's not. He's never 'sorted' as such. The H actually decks the antiH and that the last we see of him, but that's unlikely. He'd probably press charges or try and use it to force the h down the aisle or some such shit, but again, the story is simply being 'told' by this point. Kind of 'I need to get the book finish so all of this stuff happens, see', and the antiH magically pulls his rich, entitled, elitist, narcissistic head in and slinks away into obscurity. Ah huh.

As for the H... Well THREE TIMES he slinks away after mis-communications. Not bothering to clear anything up or ask a question. Even simple questions could have given him enough to at least let him know that not all was as it seems. Then he could have decided to dig or not from there. But no, he just runs, every time. Then, when he does come back, he says 'I don't want to, if I could stay away I would, but I can't, so I'm here'. So he doesn't even want to be there, but can't stop himself, real charming. Now don't get me wrong, most of the rest of the H is fine. Their magic moment and the way he loves her for who she is and not in spite of it and all that jazz. He treats her well and I suspect they'll be golden (all of this togetherness is happening in the 'all of this stuff is happening to them, see, I wrote it there on the page' portion of the book) 🙄

And then there's the fact that we are covering the stories for all four girls. When I started reading and saw more for all of them I actually thought 'I wished they'd separate do them into separate books, I'd love to see it as a series (either same/similar timeframe or one after the other), but it is actually working just seeing bits of them in the one main story'. Anyway, by 3/4 I was truly wishing they'd stayed separate. And that crap at then end! OMG. BAH! It's worth reiterating that the last 1/3 to 1/2 of the book is just an endless reveal of these 'woman/children' showing how immature they truly are and how badly they can truly behave while blaming other people for their issues or denying that they having problems.

So, we go from ignoring the silly bits to grinding our teeth at the fact that the book has become evidence that ménage trios can apparently have love children. In this case, the relevant offenders (and I do mean offenders) are the 'roided up versions of The Bold & The Beautiful (on a really cheesy day), Dr Phil & an Over the Top Preacher . Seriously, at some point, AMW stopped writing the story and just started telling us what was happening... in between the l o n g w i n d e d preaching monologues. Not to mention, all the girls when from adult woman with problems that they were facing, to whiney little 'bitches' (no, I'm not being nasty, just descriptive) who needed a good ass kicking. One of them spent the entire book whining about how 'the boy was too shy to ask her out and it was his duty to want to ask her out so she shouldn't have to grow a set and make the first move'... Only to find out... when she was bitching that he still hasn't made a move so maybe she should accept a date with someone else... That THEY HAD BEEN SEEING EACH OTHER FOR MONTHS (including him caring for her thru health issues), but every time he wanted to talk about anything, SHE would take a job out of town and do a runner... Only for him to insist they leave now and sort this shit out... and her to ditch him and leave town again... because she's a whiney little bitch who's never met a vertebra she couldn't run away from. Jesus. I seriously did like this book at the start, and was annoyed, but ok at 3/4, but by the end.... GRRRRRRRRRR

What an enjoyable read! I loved this book and look forward to reading the others in the series. This book was, to me, sweet but it was also really quite realistic in the woes of romance, which are quite true. The story is very well written and quite entertaining. The relationship between the main characters was much more than that of just friendship as they relied on each other and supported each other.

The characters were very well written and well defined and I really liked each one of them.

This is my first read of this author's work and I look forward to continuing this series. I recommend this book.

Frosted Sweets

Morgan is stunned to learn that the man she is/was to marry is having an affair with a co-worker. She called the wedding mere weeks before the big day. She is an owner of an up and coming bakery. She decides to just focus on her work. She meets Jayden, he is the opposite of her ex, and it scares her. Thier's is complicated relationship. Due to her ex and how do they met after her break up. Will they get together? You have to read till almost the very end to find out.

Wow! Friendship; love; new beginnings!!!

Right now leaning against the countertop of my successful shop, a calendar packed with orders, I choose to start living. I refuse to be lost in the shuffle anymore. I want the adventure of life and love all wrapped in one giant cookie. by Morgan

Perfect plot! Very well written, cohesive, fast-paced, ended wanting more.
Great hero, perfect heroine and amazing secondary characters.
Morgan has joined  favorite heroine hall of fame! I totally love her. She is strong and vulnerable at the same time. She is real, she could be me, or any of my girl friends.
All four women are amazing. They are all different, with their own quirks and personalities. They mesh so well together.
Jayden is really a great male character. He is hot and sweet at the same time.
The couple's chemistry is undeniable. They are good together. They are sweet, but have a little spice.
This book was really addictive. I couldn't let go, and I felt so lucky that I had book two and I started reading right after this one.
I've laughed so much. In fact, it has a scene with a wedding dress, that I don't think I will forget for a while. Every time I think about it, I start laughing.

Review 2

A bit predictable, which doesn't take away anything from the story because is masterfully written by the author.
I wouldn't have picked this book by its cover. I liked the blurb and I've read the author's before. The cover too sweet for me. These women are sweet with a dash of spice. I've missed the spice on the cover.

Which our friendship as strong as it is, I know we will be able to conquer the world. That simple fact has been the strength of my everyday life, the sheer power of what makes me hold my head up. Without this bond, I'd be a crumbling mess of a cupcake lying on the bakery floor. Maybe we have to crumble before we can be put back together? by Morgan

You MAY buy this book because you like sweet romance, you SHOULD buy this book if you have read A.M. Willard before; you MUST read this if you are looking for laughs, love and a great time!!!

This was a great, fun, light read. Full of surprises, and things I didn't see coming.
Bakery owner Morgan and her 3 friends, Natasha, Frankie, and Zara are the best of friends. Their lives are changing but the one solid thing is their friendship. They know they can turn to each other no matter what. There are new loves coming into their lives in different forms, and they are there to cheer each other on, and give each other the kick in the pants they need.
This book is filled with hot men, new relationships, best girlfriends and amazing baked goods. It is the perfect start to the series. I can't wait to dive into the next book and see where AM will take us.

I loved it from the beginning till the end. My checks hurt from laughing and smiling while reading. I wanted to do what Natasha did to Simon. I give her an round of applause for that. I love the connection between all of the characters. I can't wait to see how the girls journeys continue.
