Wow this book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Not for action or suspense but for the absolute connection I felt between these two characters that stumbled upon each other and start a love story straight out off the bat. Marcus is a movie star but he's not all stuck up or arrogant. I loved how real he was. I loved how he called her Gracie. He's so romantic and everything he said was swoon worthy sweet. Lots of heat and Sexy times. Sweet little Lexy definitely added that adorable banter although she was so mature for six yrs old. I still enjoyed her personality so much. There was a layer of when will the shoe drop the whole book making me flip through the pages so fast. One thing I need from my heroes is grovel when they screw up. Rest assured Marc only had eyes for his Gracie and any stupidity on his part had nothing to do with well anything but him being a guy who is a little bone headed and a lot clueless at one small part. When he made up for it hr went all the way. Absolutely loved this amazing story.

3,75 stars but not 4

***********************************************

“You’ve picked up my life like a snow globe and shaken it all up. It’s never glittered like this.”

This is a sweet love story between Grace, "a Latino single mother & romance novelist" and Marcus, "a famous movie star & sexiest man alive" 😊 They meet when Marcus decides that he wants to make her book into a movie and he wants to buy the rights of the book.

Characters:

I liked the character of Grace, but at times, she was too unsure of herself. I can understand one can question her self-worth when a world-wide famous movie star takes interest in her but Grace questioned if she really can be who he wants too many times and for too long.

I was plain...

I was not model thin. Never had been, never would be. I sure as heck was not anywhere close to what his ex-girlfriend looked like, that was for sure. If anything, I was the complete opposite. Where she was light, I was dark. And where she was thin with angles and edges, a designer’s dream, I was curvy and round.

Still, despite her lack of self-confidence, Grace was a very likable character with her sweetness and like her name, with her grace.

***********************************************

Grace has a daughter called Lexi and she is 6 years old but there is no way a six-year-old would talk like that. I don’t have a child but I have some common sense and Lexi definitely sounded 10 years old or even older than that!

Lexi: “Are you going to marry her?”
Marcus: “I, umm... You hungry?”
Lexi: “Is that a subtle way to avoid my question?”

***

Lexi: “He’s kinda caveman-ish. He has it stuck in his head that I’m the love of his life. His grandpa told him when you know, you know, and you man up.”
Marcus: “Oh. What did you tell Jordy?”
Lexi: “I told him I had to focus on myself and become an independent woman before I could think about settling down.”

Other than her wisdom which sounded impossible for her age, she was totally a sweet kid!

***********************************************

As for our movie star, Marc (Marcus) is not a man-whore despite being the sexiest man alive! He had a girl-friend, "America’s sweetheart", but when he saw what they had was not real, he broke up with her. He had some one-night stands but he is not pictured as a man-whore or player. He was, on the other hand, in search of something real.

I have mixed feelings for Marc as he is a mixture of the good and the bad. He made a few major mistakes that made him less than an ideal book boyfriend for me.

1. First of all, his brothers provoke him while talking about the rights of the book and they mention that he may not get what he wants. Thus, he agrees to a bet with them and says he would do anything to get her to agree to sell him the rights of her book. As Grace didn’t recognize him at first when he approached her, he had a bruised ego, so he let his arrogance influence his decision.

During that talk with his brothers, he says one sentence I was never able to forget all along the book: “She’s a chubby single mom. Trust me when I say I got this”.

I know he liked her physical appearance and her curves, I know how sexy he found her but still, it was not cool – talking about her in this way was not cool at all.

2. His second mistake is keeping this bet as a secret even after he falls in love with her. He had a few attempts to confess but then, something happens and he cannot.

It was never about the bet after their 2nd meeting. He easily and quickly falls for her. So, he never takes the bet seriously but as readers, we feel that his not telling her about this stupid bet will one day break them apart.

The story is so very predictable because of this bet as we know what the plot twist is: Someone will tell her about the bet and he will lose her!

That was the worst thing about this book: Its predictability. And if it weren’t such a sweet love story, I wouldn’t be able to continue reading it, knowing what will surely happen.

3. And another mistake of Marcus is his inability to defend Grace when his bitchy ex appears all of a sudden and starts to call Grace “a fat bitch”, “a fat cow”, “Miss Piggy” etc.

I know there was paparazzi around so he had to act carefully but he said too little for my taste. He said she needs to shut up and he said Grace was his everything but it wasn’t enough for me.

On the other hand, Grace acted so very gracefully and put the bitchy ex in her place.

“I get it,” I told her.
“Get what?”
She narrowed her eyes and ran her long-nailed fingers through her shiny locks. “That you would miss him. I do, and I’ve only known him for a short time. But when he travels, I miss him. So I understand. Having a man like him and then not… that would hurt.”

4. And one final mistake of Marcus was when everything fell down and Grace learnt about the bet, he didn’t act how I expected him to be. He let her go. He didn’t insist that she stay and listen to his side of the story.

OK, later, he tried his best to make things right but like that moment, there are times when he gets frozen and cannot say the right thing or do the right thing.

For all the reasons above, I have mixed feelings about Marc. I didn’t dislike him because I knew he loved Grace with all his heart and he never looked at any other woman after he fell for Grace. It was as if no other woman existed on earth for him. He was so smitten with her. That’s why, I cannot hate him despite all his mistakes but he is not the best book boyfriend again because of his mistakes.

***********************************************

Safety:

It is safe with no cheating. Other than one scene his ex causes, there is not any OW/OM drama.

They didn’t talk about protection when they started to sleep together. They didn’t use condoms. Luckily, she was on pills. The talk of protection came only after a few days. Weird much?!

***********************************************

Writing:

That was the part I struggled with most. It is written in a weird style. Grace’s chapters are from 1st person point of view but Marc’s chapters are written from 3rd person point of view. It is so very distracting and annoying.

Other than that, the writing makes you feel. Most of the time, their sweet love put a big smile on my face.

Also, there are a few editing mistakes that should be revised in the next edition.

***********************************************

Recommendation:

I know there are problems in this book here and there and it is way too predictable but still, with its sweetness, it is worth a shot. It is emotional and sexy and I don’t regret reading it.

The best thing about it is its fairy-tale plot line: A single mum and a movie star she adores meet and they fall in love. And he gives her a better romance than what she has written in her books.

I wrote romance and happily ever afters, but there was no way I could have written this moment. This night.

“You’re dangerous, Mr. Wright.”

The heaviness of her comment didn’t fail to elude him. He slipped out of her and rolled onto his back, pulling her to his side. “Why do you say that, Miss Rivera?” he asked, feeling her lips on his chest.

“You’re making it close to impossible not to fall for you.” She laid it all out for him.

He was glad. “Good,” he retorted, stroking her hair with his hand. He wanted her to fall for him. Hard. Because he was a fucking goner.

***

He opened his eyes and looked down at the woman in his arms. Never in his thirty-six years had he ever felt the way he felt at that particular moment. Her dark hair was fanned behind her. The soft tresses in his fingers, stroking the silky tips, he watched her sleep. He was so fucking in love with her he didn’t know which way was up. Not only was she sexy and feisty, but she was so damn smart and funny. She was an amazing mom to Lexi and an incredible writer. She grounded him in a way no one ever had ever done. She made him want to be a better man. A man who deserved her and Lex.

***

“I love you, Grace. I think I fell in love with you somewhere between being stuck in an elevator and a photo shoot. I know it’s fast. But a man knows what he wants when he sees it. For me, it’s you, Grace."

Book 2 STEAL is about Marc's brother Bryan and I am thinking of reading it.

Book 3 CHEAT is about another brother of Marc: Garrett. He is an as*hole as he tried to ruin Marc's relationship with Grace. He was really a piece of work and I kinda hated him in this book so it is a big possibility that I won't be reading Garrett's book!

Ms. Mayra has done it again! She has captured our hearts with her beautifully real story and down to earth believable characters.
Grace Riveria is a beautiful, funny, curvy, strong author and oh yes, sassy as the day is long. She is a devoted single mom and her cute as a button little girl is a chip off the old block. She is fortunate to be surrounded by her dedicated and protective sisters that always have her back and will do anything for her!
Marcus Wright (Mr. Right) is a very hardworking, talented, strong willed action star and oh yes very bossy. He is definitely used to getting his way.
What happens when these two firecrackers meet! Marcus is introduced to a romance novel that he feels deep in his heart can be the first movie that his new production studio can bring to life on the big screen. The only thing or shall we say gal that stands in his way is the lovely and not easily persuaded Grace. Marcus makes a ridiculous bet with his brood of brothers before meeting Grace and he soon comes to regret it! This becomes his downfall and begins to weave the web of lies that soon realizes are burying him and dousing any chance that he has with the beautiful Grace.
They get off to a very rocky start that is also quite hysterical. Grace thinks that her sisters are playing quite a prank on her when Mr. Right shows up on her doorstep courting her novel. Grace being the quick witted gal that she is makes quite a few off color remarks to Marcus. She really has no idea who he is. Marcus realizes how much he actually enjoys her sass ! He finally decides to take her on and as they say Let the Games Begin!
Loved the journey of Grace and Marcus. I am so looking forward to each supporting cast member getting their own book! I loved Grace's sisters and Marcus's best friend and brothers!!! They are wonderfully entertaining!!!
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Reread and spoilers ahead, 2.5* rounded up with a mighty shove to 3 😂

America's Mr. Right superhero actor Marcus Wright has decided to try his hand at producing a movie, when his friend and manager presents him with a romance book Marcus is skeptical that this could be his first shot at production but by the end he's determined to secure the rights to the book.

Author Grace is a single parent to a precocious 6 year old, she's made a good life for herself and Lexi and with her sisters around her she's content. She's shocked to find Marcus on her doorstep and doesn't recognize him. When she does Grace is stunned to hear his proposal. There's something between them, much more than book rights, but could a Hollywood superstar who last dated America's sweetheart be interested in a curve single mom?

************

Ok at the beginning Marcus made a dumb bet with his brothers that I just knew was going to be the reason for the conflict and the usual h fleeing separation that's almost inevitable in contemporary romance. He said some really dumb things calling her fat or something but we know he didn't mean it nevertheless it caused trouble when she found out

Aside from that bs Marcus was an ok H, the author made him impossible to complete sentences firing conflicts that made him not as Alpha as I'd like but he was loyal to Grace and loved her and her daughter

Grace was really insecure and that pissed me off. She spent the entire book second guessing herself and Marcus and always seeking reassurances that he did indeed want her curvy nothing special self 🙄

OW drama from Marcus's ex who he was definitely not interested in

Lexi was 6 going on 30😂, her conversational skills were very mature for her age but she was still a cutie

Marcus had his share of ladies but he was tired of the esay women so he'd actually hadn't had sex in a little while

Marcus's brother was an idiot and he has his own book so it'd be interesting to see if this author can change this reader's view of him

I wouldn't mind reading about Grace's sisters as there seemed to be something brewing between them and other secondary characters

Had this author made Grace embrace her size and be confident this would've been a real winner but it just ended up as being ok

Single parent h, the dad died
OW drama from the H's ex but he wasn't interested
The relationship progressed pretty quickly
No cheating or a hint of it anywhere (yay)
he a Playboy maybe but there wasn't any emphasis on that just an appearance by his ex

He was taking a break from easy pussy. It had been fun, but he was over it. Maybe he was feeling old, but he wanted something more… something with substance.

“Fighting doesn't solve anything,” Grace automatically answered, giving her best mom voice.

Who in their right mind not only left a woman who looked like her, but their kid?

“She’s a chubby single mom. Trust me when I say I got this, I GOT this.”

“You seriously thinking about seducing a single mom to get her to sign the rights over for this?” Don asked, the seriousness in his voice making the others listen.

Then reality hit me. As hot as he was, he was also rude. And arrogant. And aloof.

“People trip over themselves for you.” “No, they don’t.” “And you do whatever you want and get away with it. I get it.”

I’d just let Marcus Wright finger fuck me in an elevator.

=
He says when a real man finds his one, he waits. That his know-it-all grandpa says a real man waits and fights for his woman.”

He was in love. Real love. Jordy’s grandpa was right. When a man knew, he just knew.

This was one of those quick fun and enjoyable reads.

Most of you know by now I’m not a fan of insta-love, but when in works it works and in some quick fun books I don’t mind it too much anyway.

I enjoyed the story, for the most part. There were a few minor things that bothered me but overall it was a good book that was funny, cute, and very steamy. While with a somewhat predicable storyline I still enjoyed it.

The characters… I enjoyed Maracus a little more than Grace. He just seemed to know better what he wanted, acted on that and was semi straight forward.

While Grace went a little back and forth. Like for instance in the beginning she is so mad at him and hates him , storms off and wants nothing more to do with him but like five minutes ends up getting hot and heavy in the elevator with him.  I would have liked a little more self-control from her and not just shut er brain off because there is a hot famous guy in front of her. But that aside it is still pretty good read.

The writing was good and easy to follow. I just wish it would have stayed with one POV.  We get dual which I like but I wish both would have been either first person POV or third person POV. Here we get Grace in first person and Marcus in third person.   But that is just a personal opinion and it really might not bother most readers and should not stop anyone form buying this book.

Overall fun read and I rate this book 3 ★

What kind of bum insults someone’s physical appearance when that’s what you’re attracted to? 🤨🥴

Sorry but if he made the bet about ‘securing the book deal and her’ that would’ve been an okay premise at the start since it was lad behaviour, and a mistake which would come back to bite him in the ass.
But calling her chubby because your mates are giving you a little ribbing. If u can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. Set a bad tone.

Chubby suddenly becomes curvy once he meets her the second time. Whatever. 🥴🙄

To top off, she came off as dickmatised and insecure because of his professional status and beautiful looks. she’s nothing like his exes etc etc. I don’t know, she was well aware of everything she was getting involved in, say falling in love with an actor, but I would’ve preferred a little more resistance. Especially with those reservations.

3.75-4 stars. This was a good book! This is the story of Grace, a sweet spitfire, Latino single mother who is a romance novelist, and Marcus, a famous movie star. Marc is interested in producing one of Grace's books to be made into a movie. His brothers goad him into betting that he would go to any lengths to get Grace to agree to sell him the rights to her book. He had a "SFB" moment and does a dumb guy thing by agreeing. All thoughts of the bet fly out the window practically right after it's made, as far as he's concerned. When he shows up on her doorstep, he knows he doesn't just want the rights to the book, he wants Grace too. She is shocked to see a movie star on her porch and she is wary to trust him. But they like each other right away, and she cautiously decides to give him a chance, when he pursues her. They slowly and sweetly develop a relationship. But one of Marcus's brothers has it out for him and he tells Grace about the bet and that Marc only wants her for the her book's rights. Grace has to decide whether to trust her heart and the way Marc has shown her he loves her.

I really liked both Grace and Marc. They were so sweet together. Their love and chemistry was really obvious from soon after they met. Even though Marc was a famous star, I never felt like he even saw any other women but Grace. He was all about her. And I really liked that she was a regular woman, with curves and every day problems. She was just what Marc needed to keep him grounded. I liked how their relationship developed slowly and so normal, despite his fame. I really felt their connection. I understood Marc didn't want to tell her about the bet, which he never took seriously in the first place. He forgot about it from the moment he met, and was captivated by, Grace, until it comes back to bite him in the ass. I liked Lexi, Grace's daughter, but I did feel that she acted more like a 10 year old, than the 6 year old she was supposed to be. But I did think she was cute and I liked seeing Marc fall for her along with her mother. The side characters, especially Grace's sisters, were also well developed. The story was interesting and kept my attention. Overall, this was a sweet, easy love story and I enjoyed it a lot! This is my first book to read by Ms. Satham, but won't be my last.

If there's one book you want to buy from a author that maybe you don't know then this is the book for you. A book written by the very talented Mayra Statham. I've loved her books since I first got introduced to her and have seen her growth and her talent soar. This story proves it. Every single word.

Marcus Wright is 'Mr Right' in Hollywood. He's handsome and a talented actor who has been the swoon worthy male in RomComs, a superhero and many others. He has an idea and hopes that it will come to fruition. His world is crazy but once he meets Grace Rivera it total tips his axel.

Grace Rivera writes romance, happily ever afters. One day her world changes and nothing could have prepared her for 'Mr Right.' He wants the rights to her book for a movie deal, but his words feel like he wants more. Is it all a Lie? Or is it for real?

We go on their journey of finding the trust, the growth of their relationship, the interactions with characters who we love and some who we would like to choke. We go through some mistakes. We are taken through many emotions. Every page will keep you hooked. You'll laugh, cry, swoon, yell and fall in love. Mayra has given us a beautiful story of finding ones true love. Highly highly recommended. Top favs of 2016.

To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of books where the hero or heroine is a movie star. I'm not sure what it is but they usually don't hold my attention for long. But this book was completely different and blew me away!

Marcus is a Hollywood movie star looking to leave the spotlight and produce when he comes across a book written by a single mum. He is desparate to turn this book into a movie, and he will do anything to get it. Grace is single mum to Lexi, full time author and all round lovely woman. She is fiercely independent and protective but we get to see a different side to her when it comes to Marcus. Throw in an awkward first encounter, and second, and a whirlwind romance and we have ourselves one of my favourite books of this year.

This author was brand new to me, I hadn't heard of her or her books before. Single parent is on of my favourite book troupes so i knew I had to give this book a chance and I am super glad I did. This book was a complete 5 star for me, the secondary characters were just as awesome as our heroes and I cannot wait to get straight onto book 2!

I really enjoyed this book even though it has what has to be one of the worst tropes in romance writing history. I would have given it higher marks if the editing had been tighter. For example, the Julia Roberts movie is Notting Hill not Knotting Hill; her hands were on his chest then "her hands had been slowly moving north", they were moving downward. I admit I am directionally challenged but even I know that north is up not down. The worst example is in Chapter 18 when Gracie calls her own daughter Gracie.

What saved this book for me was the plot, the main idea. But it was poorly written and DO YOU REALLY FALL INLOVE IN A MONTH? Asking for a friend
The characters were good, I can see it.
But they were supposed to be Latin, and that’s more than fine, BUT THE GRAMATICAL ERROR FOUND IN SPANISH WERE UNACCEPTABLE! Don’t they had ARCs? Editors? Or even google traductor? That triggered me off.
But was is it worth it? No.
The main reason for me to finish this book was due to my OCD, if not, DNF. Don’t bother.
It’s a HELL TO F NO.

Lie by Mayra Statham a movie star magic five-star read. This is book one in the wright men series and what a first book. In a world where one plays make believe and one writes it, can they ever get the fairy tale happy ever after? Would you be able to forgive a lie that would shake you to the core? It’s a something posed to Romance author and single mom Grace Rivera. What will she decide?
Hollywood heart-throb Marcus Wright is willing to do anything in his power to get the book he wants to turn into a screen play for his next project. But when he meets the woman who wrote it, he has a charge of heart. But will a stupid mistake ruin everything for him? Grace Rivera lives for her daughter, she would do anything to keep her safe, even walking away from ‘Mr Wright’ if she thinks It will be for the best.
There are some great characters in this book, and I can’t wait to hear more about the Wright brothers and Rivera sisters in the next books, and I hope we get to see more of Lexi-Bell as she is a real little fire cracker, just like her mum.

Ok I've had this book on my Tab like for, forever. I don't know why I hadn't read it till now but yeah, I wanted to kick myself.

Mayra Statham can do no wrong. She has once again given us this beautiful, magical love story... its so beautifully written and makes you know "yeah Fairytales still exist"
This book is like every single women's dream we have as a little girl only this time told in an adult version.

I am not telling you what their Occupations are cos you know already. And if you don't know it's Great,  Go in blind,  trust me when I say Marcus and Grace come from two different world's.
Watching these world's melt and mesh together... Magic pure Magic.
Mayra has given us The arsehole hero who is so hot and wonderful, yes at times you wanna slap the day lights outta him but he steals your heart at how Hot he is, protective of "His Girls", caring and so giving.
Grace and her Daughter Lexi, my God these two are so damn cute and adorable. I can't understand how anybody could not love them.
Marc would move mountains for them. Lexi is the perfect little girl she is such an important part of their lives and I love how they never forgot that.
I smiled and swooned when Marc spent time with this little Lady..
This book gets you so invested that you wanna even know what happens to all the side characters. They really were such a nice Backdrop to the story.
And I can't wait to see who gets a book next and where Mayra goes with it.

I love that when Marc's Mess up comes to light how he and Grace handle it....I smiled so much when he had to grovel and beg for forgiveness. I was turning pages like mad adoring how Grace made him Work and Then choked at some scenes, esp when he and Lexi had their Heart To Heart moments..

OHHH and Ladies I HAVE TO SAY SEXY time WAS OFF THE CHARTS HOT HOT HOT...
Enjoy Ladies...

I know I always say this when it comes to Mayra Statham's books but it can not be more true than this moment. LIE is Mayra's best book to date! It's unlike anything she's written and so much more. Truly talented Mayra created a world I got completely lost in and had a major book hangover from! I LOVED Marcus from the beginning. I LOVE how spunky and strong Grace was through out. I LOVED her daughter Lexie and the sweet moments with her.

I had the feels throughout the book and I can't express how much I wished it never ended. This is a book that NEEDS to be shared and shared and shared. YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE. NO JOKE.

This book is the beginning of a brand new series, she has set it up soooooo well. I am chopping at the bits for the rest. Every character in this book, I either loved or hated. The ones I hated, I found myself loving in the end. Every character in this book has a stepping stone into an even more amazing story.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. CAPTIVATING. EMOTIONAL. WELL WRITTEN. 5 STAR READ!

Wow, just wow!!! This book was so enchanting I absolutely loved it!!! 5 stars just doesn't seem like enough but it's all I can give it. This is actually my first book I've read by Mayra and I don't know why but I am going to fix that asap. The characters are well developed and the secondary characters bring a different quality to it that you don't get from many books. I can't wait to read the rest of this series when they come out. We have the world's sexiest man who wants to go from in front of the camera to behind it. And he finds the perfect book that he wants to bring to life. When Marcus first shows up on Grace's door she doesn't recognize him and when he tells her his plans she can't believe it. Can she trust him to bring her baby to life? And with the sexual tension and the magnetism between the two can they separate real life from make believe? I highly highly recommend this book.

I was so lucky to receive an ARC of this amazing book!
First, Mayra Statham is once of my favorite authors, her writing is beautiful and I lose myself in her books. Next, LIE is hot, so hot! It's also funny, sweet, and romantic with the right amount of angst and just one of the best books I have read in a very long time! Marcus sees Grace for the first time and is instantly attracted to this curvy single mother. Oh did I mention that she was a single mom? I love a single mom romance!
And Marcus is one sexy hot alpha, I love him!!
This is my favorite book to date from this author, I can't wait for the rest of the books in this series!! And this book is going in my reread folder, I expect to be revisiting Marc very soon!

4 Mr Wright Stars!!

What an amazing read. Mayra you have done it again!!

Marcus Wright is Hollywood's, bad boy actor who decides he and his manager/ best friend want to turn a book into movie. Little does he know he's playboy ways are about to change when steps on author Grace Rivera's door step.

Grace Rivera is single mother to sassy 6yr old Lexi, who is writing to support her and Lexi. She has no idea just who Marcus is going to turn her world upside down.

This was an amazing sexually charged read. There were a few times where I wanted to throat choke Marc or just give him a nice kick to the balls.

So if you're looking for a quick hot alpha the you need to read Lie.

I loved this book so much! Marcus is so hot, and I loved Grace's sassyness. I adored Lexi too! All the characters fit so well into the story. I hope they all get their stories told as well.
I loved that Marcus knew Grace was the one, even though Grace had doubts because he was an actor. He could have any woman he wanted, yet he chose Grace, a curvy, single mother and a struggling romance author. Has Grace finally found her Mr. Wright? Or will Marcus make a mistake that could cost them their chance at happiness? I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

This was the first time I have read anything by this author, and whilst I enjoyed the majority of the storyline, there were probably too many things at play, some of which, for me, did not enhance the story in any way. I liked both the main characters, Marcus and Grace. Marcus was the hot Hollywood actor who could have anyone, but he sets his sights on Grace, the curvy single mom who has little confidence in herself, and certainly doesn’t trust easily. I liked the chemistry between the characters, but sometimes Marcus was too naïve and his lack of communication sucked, and Grace, well let’s just say there were occasions where she was far too calm! There are plenty of interesting support characters in this book, the most amusing being Lexi, Grace’s 6 year old daughter, some of her lines were highly amusing and certainly kept me entertained.

The author tells a great story, some areas felt very repetitive, and because of that I did struggle to get lost in the book. Overall it was a good story, if not a little long.

Rating: 3.5*

Famous Marcus' image has taken a bashing from his ex-girlfriend's portrayal of him. Looking for a way to redeem himself, he ends up at romance author Grace's front door hoping to buy the rights to turn one of her books into a film. He thinks his good looks and famous status will get him what he wants...until he meets her.

I really despised Marcus to start with due to the arrogance he showed towards Grace. His cocky attitude wasn't endearing and it took a while to come around to actually liking him. Unfortunately his plan nearly back fires and his words come back to haunt him.

Grace lives up to her name - she has a big heart and is kind and generous. She is following her dream writing, whilst raising her young daughter single handed. She deserves an amazing man to love and care for her, to recognise how special she is.

Once I'd gotten over Marcus' early actions, I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to finding out more about his other brothers and the strong women who will capture their hearts.

The couple: Marcus and Grace

Romance trope: celebrity/regular person
Series: Right Men
Length: 352 pages

Plot: Marcus is having a hard time lately. As a popular movie actor, he's gone through a recent breakup that caused his reputation to take a hit and he's been in a fight that was actually a setup, not that anyone believes him. He intends to take some time off and regroup, and then his best friend hands him a romance novel that would be a perfect first movie for their production company. When he hunts down the author, she's not the older lady he expected. She's a hot single mother who tempts him into actually trying a relationship. But Grace doesn't intend to make such a massive mistake and is not on board with his ideas for them. He won't give up though, even when all the odds seem stacked against them.

Commentary: He was so good at speaking before thinking! But I sure do understand why he didn't want to tell her about the bet - who voluntarily paints themselves in a bad light? And if it wasn't true (at that point) anyways, why would he put that in her head and make her think that he didn't really want her? I'm all for honesty, but I don't know - in this case, yes, he should have told her, maybe earlier, but I understand why he didn't want to. And his brother needs...something. He's being a horrible brother. I know he apologized - to Grace, not his brother - but still. To do that to someone you supposedly love. I'm sure it will be explained away in his story as the result of trauma but I think he has some groveling to do!

Grammar/formatting: needs another check for missing words and typos

Next book in the series: STEAL

Grace is not one to hold back her wrath, “you barged into my house yesterday with an impromptu thing, set this…” she shook her hand out toward the shut doors, “I don’t even know what that was. But let me tell you , ‘Mr. Right,’” she scoffed his name in air quotations, “if you are serious about starting a business where you are going to be more than a pretty face in front of a camera, a little common sense would go a long way.” ****, he had really effed up somehow." I loved Marc's family, especially his grandma and mom, “his dad and I thought he might be gay, but he never came out. No matter how many times we told him it was okay if he was. We even tried to set him up one time.” No longer able to hold it in, I giggled." I loved this book, and I can't wait for the other brothers to get their stories told.

Lie (Right Men Series - Book 1) - Mayra Statham

I was given this book for an honest and unbiased review.

This was my first book by Maura Statham but it certainly won't be my last.

Single mother and romance writer, Grace might just get the chance of a lifetime and have her work turned into a movie.
Marcus Wright, movie star in his own right is an aspiring director and needs Grace's story to debut himself as a director. What will it take for him to acquire the story? Marcus will do just about anything but the chemistry between the protagonists is brilliant.

Some great characters, beautifully developed and with great interplay between them. Loved this series starter and can't wait to read more of Mayra Statham.

Lies are a killer in a relationship, especially when you lie with your mouth instead of lie in the bed with them. Marcus had no idea what his brother had roped him into especially since he was lying to himself when it happened. Grace a single parent and writer grabbed his heart from the start. Now if he can tell her the truth before his lies rip them apart before they can get started.

This author weaves a wonderful tale. Her characters are so life like, sometimes quirky but always real, you tend to forget it's a book. I love what she does in her stories as she brings it completely. Her characters are strong and loving, fierce and devoted, hot and sexy. Love this series as much as the last and can't wait for more.
