About the author

Michael Gillespie grew up in a house full of books and surrounded by woods. He lives in Wilmington, NC and practices law. In 2011, after receiving pictures from his Aunt Mary and Uncle Gray of baby screech owls living in their backyard, he wrote his first children's story, Whose Hoo? The Moon and the Whippoorwill (2017) was the next completed. Others in the pipeline include The Fox and the Sloth: Let's Go Big! (expected late 2017), Game of Cones (expected early 2018), The Unremarkable Little Thing, and Jazz Moles. He completed Nanowrimo in 2014 and 2015, and has also helped his father, Jim Gillespie, prepare for publishing his book, The Cabin: Tall Tales and Murky Truths from Hunting and Fishing the Cape Fear River in North Carolina.
