Love can be the best trophy and the sweetest consolation prize.

Shutout
Book 5 in the Renegades Series.
Hockey Happily Ever Afters with Spice on Ice.

Shutout is the story of Dominic Zanetti (Renegades goalie) and Hailee Valentine.

Dom is flirty, swoon-worthy and tattooed. He's only ever truly loved one woman, Hailee. But that ended long ago. He still compares every puck bunny to her but no one measures up.

Hailee is stubborn, tattooed, and not the kind of woman to let a man take care of her. She refuses to sit in the kitchen and bake pies for anyone. Hailee is her own woman and plans to stay that way. That's why she had to leave Dominic all those years ago. When all things in her life finally start to fall neatly into place, one thing is still missing. Dominic.

Shutout is a great read of Dominic and Hallie’s second chance romance! I love that Hallie is strong and will not waver on her goals in life, and I loved the ending. I’m excited to read Book 5!

Shutout by Melody Heck Gatto is the fifth book in her Renegades series. Shutout is a sexy second chance romance between high school sweethearts who meet again by chance. This book can be read as a standalone, which is my first from the series. Dominic Zanetti, back-up goalie for Renegades, is starting to feel like he belongs in the PHL. From a hockey dynasty family, Dom has always dreamed of his shot in the big league but no bunny can compare to his first love. Hailee Valentine dreams of opening her own art studio and she’ll do anything to obtain her goal even if it means getting a little dirty. Hailee ran away from Dom once before but this is a different time and place and maybe just what each other need to find themselves again.

Sexy, sweet, tattooed hockey hunk – Check. Tattooed, strong willed, artistic beauty – Check. The chemistry between Dom and Hailee is off the charts! I adored the twist with Hailee’s job and Dom can’t deny his affection for her even after so much time has passed and she broke his heart despite what Hailee is doing for a living. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m super excited to go back and read the previous books in the series. Melody has created a sweet, hockey filled sports romance with everything a fan of the genre is looking for in a novel. 5 Stars for Shutout by Melody Heck Gatto

Shutout (Renegades #5) by Melody Heck Gatto Melody Heck Gatto’s SHUTOUT is a heartwarming story and wonderful addition to the Renegades series. Goalie Dominic Zanetti has only ever loved his high school girlfriend, Hailee Valentine.  He is still confused to why she broke things off with him.  They are reunited in a different county three years later, and he is determined to win her back. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Pittsburgh and Vaughn, Ontario.  It is suitable for new adults and adult audiences.

Melody Heck Gatto does a great job with her character development.  Hailee is a likeable heroine.  She is an aspiring artist and art gallery owner who is determined to make it on her own.  She does not want to be a kept woman.  I like that her tattoos are designed by her.  Dom has always loved Hailee.  He was heartbroken and confused when she broke up with him.  He is a great guy with a big heart.  Okay maybe he’s not a great guy to the puck bunnies, but whatever; they got what they wanted from him.  I love how persistent he is with Hailee.

I love both Hailee’s Canadian (Mia) and U.S. (Alison) BFFs.  They both tell it as it is and not what she wants to hear.  They know her better than she knows herself.  They care about her and want what is best for her.

I appreciated that Tyler Kidd’s and Paige Martin’s from book three, PLAYING THE GAME wedding was in this story.  That made some interesting scenarios in the novel with both the bachelor party and wedding.  Plus, it was a nice tie-in to the earlier book.

I enjoyed the plot.  I thought it was clever how Dom and Hailee are reunited.  I love that this couple gets a second chance. They have multiple obstacles to overcome.  I like that the misconception that tore them apart is cleared up.  I like how Hailee apologizes at the end of the story.  It was a cute ending. Melody Heck Gatto’s SHUTOUT was an excellent addition to the Renegades series.  I’m looking forward to reading what she comes up with next.  I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

4.5 Stars

Shutout is the 5th book in the Renegades series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the previous titles in the Renegades series, but look forward to going back and reading the other books in this series.

Shutout is a second chance romance, Dom and Hailee's story is both engaging and entertaining.
This pair of characters are endearing and goal orientated individuals. It's told from a dual point of view, so we get to see both Dom and Hailee's inner thoughts and motivations.

Dom is a sexy, tattooed bad boy player on an off the ice, one of my favorite types of hero's. He's also an absolute sweet heart under his tough tattooed exterior.

Hailee is stubborn, at times she's her own worst enemy and can be completely frustrating. She's one of those characters who you just want to slap up the backside of the head and yell at to get her head out of her ass.

This pair prove that first love is often the strongest, but love isn't enough if you can't communicate effectively.

I really enjoyed this book, and upon picking it up I didn't want to put it down. The characters and their story was unique and a great blend of romance, sport, heat and angst. I look forward to reading more of Melody's books in the future.

“This being friends thing was going to be difficult if she didn’t let him in a little bit. He should be the one bitter; instead, he couldn’t remember what life was like without her.”

Let me start this by saying how much I loved Hailee!!! I swear she’s me but in book form!!! I really must say she’s one of my favorite female book characters I’ve read in a long time! Then you throw in sexy Dom and I swear my ovaries exploded. But besides the great characters you have an amazing story with tons of heat and full of heart! I really liked this book and I can’t wait to read more from Melody in the future!

Let me start by saying as much as I loved Tyler Kidd's book in this series, I think Dominic might just top Tyler. I love Dominic's story. His past with Hailee is heartbreaking. One of those "you want to reach through the book and slap some sense into that girl" kind of story. There are very few men out there who would be as understanding as Dominic (they do exist FYI). All I'm saying is Hailee is lucky he was still in love with her. Melody did a great job making their story seem realistic and unique. When you have read as many books as I have, they sometimes get repetitive. I can honestly say that I was not bored at any point in this book.

I was so excited to finally see Dom get his own story. I have wanted to hear his story since his very first appearance in the series. The fact that I have a serious goalie obsession is not important! The tattoos help too!

This really was a good book. Dom comes face to face with his past in the most unlikely place. The encounter was quite amusing. Neither Dom nor Hailee were expecting to see each other again. Now that they have been thrown back together though, Dom wants to finally understand why she left him all those years ago. There are some seriously tissue worthy moments in this book. The sticker on the bottom of the ring box is very important to the story so make sure you pay attention.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I hope to see more of Matt. I really want to know his story, especially after what we learn in this book. I can't wait to see more from Kaden too. You won't be disappointed with this book. It is well worth the read!!!!

I love this series so much and have been anxious since book one for Dominic's story. The background of Dominic and Hailee is very well written and the author does an excellent job of making me feel for both of them and the angst they are going through.

Hailee wants independence and to count on no one but herself. She doesn't see a way of having that as long as she is in a relationship with Dominic.

Dominic has always loved Hailee and he just wants what they once had back, to be in love with each other and have their happy ever after.

I loved how the 'typical' did not happen in this story. The road to their happiness wasn't easy and it took some turns that I hadn't expected. I loved being surprised. One of the things I most admire about Melody as an author is I can totally dislike a character and before I know it, I'm seeing their side of things and liking them.

The only bad thing about this book is that it's over. I'm left waiting for the next book to come out and wondering which character it will be about. Hands down, Dominic has become my favorite Renegade! I highly recommend this!!!

Ms. Gatto has another Shutout on her hands. I love this series and the interconnected characters. I'm glad to read about the Renegades' goalie finally. There were two reasons Shutout didn't get 5 stars. 1. The hangup of the female lead was a bit too draggy for me--while Hailey was a tough chick in most ways, she was a hardheaded ninny over doing things her way or the highway. 2. There were a few places where some editing was needed-- mostly where the author's fingers were going faster than her thoughts or vice versa. Can't wait for the next book!

Two people raised with different values, can they be together and still keep themselves true? Well as soon as they meet up again by accident we'll see. There's romance, comedy, and heartache but what love story or romance doesn't have that?? Can one forgive for others words? Not really a hockey fan but hey it's a book filled with the usual hockey antics. This follows Hailee from Canada to the States from a relationship that might have been doomed with old fashioned values. Dominic an up and coming hockey player that loved Hailee to death was crushed the day he proposed and now three years later they "bump" into each other at The Cat House. Dominic can't believe its Hailee and she can't believe its him either, but its finally determined in the light of day so to speak. Dominic hasn't forgotten Hailee and neither she of him so after this meeting can they patch what's been broken or will they be able to be friends even?
Melody you have used anything and everything that romance needs and threw in some laughs as well as the heartache. I enjoyed you hockey romance. Writing from both POV has become my fav style of writing because I always want to know what the other is thinking. I need to read the rest of the Renegades to meet everyone of this wild bunch of hockey players that seem to have a heart for the game and the ladies....that eventually steal their hearts. I definitely recommend this one for a cold night and curled up in front of the fire read.

I was kind with book 3 in this series, but I have a strong feeling this author actually likes a manwhore hero.

This one again, Dom is going through bunnies faster than a change of socks. This book starts with him waking up with a blonde in bed, and I really wanted to DNF then. The way he acted towards this girl, like she was a prostitute or trash. She was good enough to stick your dick in, but the next morning you don’t know how fast to dispose her as garbage. I don’t like this type of heroes. It’s repulsive.

Then we have a h who is his ex-girlfriend and became a stripper he get a lapdance from. But that’s only the second stripper that night. He had a lapdance before her and wanted to take that girl home with him. That would’ve been 2 OW in a row, since he kicked out the blonde just this morning. Is this romance?

When he meets the h again the next day, just to see if it really was his ex-girlfriend and he wasn’t delusional, he offers her a $100 bill for a lapdance. Stopped reading from that point.

I have the feeling Kaden is just a manwhore as well with all his bunnies and Dom’s leftovers, so I will skip all other books in this series. Guess this author just isn’t for me.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!

I was super excited to see the continuation of this series that I fell in love with early this past summer. It was pretty cool to read a series based on my favorite hockey team of all time, the 4x Stanley Cup Champions - The Pittsburgh Penguins! Yes, I totally just did that! HA!
Ok, back to my review. I don't know how I missed the release of Dom's story back in August but when the opportunity presented itself to review last week, you bet your booty I was all over that.
Dom was everything I thought he would be and more. Tattoos, hot, and swoon-worthy, what more could you ask for? He is my favorite Renegade so far.
Hailee, oh Hailee. She was so damn frustrating. Even now, I'm getting all kinds of worked up thinking back on her stubborn ass.
I really enjoyed reading this. MHG has become a favorite of mine and has definitely moved up on my stalking list.

This is the fifth book in the renegades series and it didn't dissapoint. This book follows Dominic and Hailee's story, childhood sweethearts who meet again years after Hailee ran out on Dom breaking his heart. I absolutely loved Dom, he is such a sweetheart I think he's my favourite so far! There were more than a few times I wanted to reach into my kindle and punch Hailee! Dom really put himself out there and bared his soul to her and she still pushed him away. I would of liked a bit more romance between Dom and Hailee and a little less angst, but that's my only criticism. I hope Matt gets his book soon, need to know what happened. I loved Kaden too so hopefully we hear from him soon. Another great read.

I am so glad this series is continuing. I have loved every one of the books in this series and have wanted Dominic's book for awhile. I liked the background of Hailee and Dominic's relationship. And when they run into each other again, look out. Although according to Hailee, while they still have feelings for each other, the reasons she split from him haven't changed. Or could it be she was misinformed all those years ago? Dominic deserves to know the truth right?

What can one say! Dom has been the hot, tattooed goalie for the Renegades for a few years. the love of his life Hailee broke his heart and he is trying to move on but not having any success.. One night at a club he "runs" into Hailee, he had no idea she was in Pittsburgh. Can they remedy the past and move forward?

I'm gonna start by saying that I've never wanted to slap a heroine as hard as I wanted to slap this one! Jesus Christ was Hailee hard headed!!! I fell in love with this book (not with you Hailee) since page 1! I love a good 2nd chance love story and this one didn't disappoint! it was sad, funny, heartbreaking and maddening all at once! I can't wait to see what's coming next in this series!

I loved this book. When the author talked about places Dom took Hailee to I could totally see them since I also live in Pittsburgh. A few times I did want to slap Hailee for pushing Dom away but I'm glad she finally got it together!

Great series

I am excited to say I went to high school with this great author. It only took me 9 days to read the series because I couldn't put the books down. The characters were real and I got so involved in them. Can't wait to see who finds love and the feeling of family with the team
