One Thousand Winks by Laura J Marshall is a quick short story that teaches us how important it is to learn how to trust God to lead us in the right direction after life deals us a devestating blow. I suggest you read this book, Laura Marshall is an amazing Author and I look forward to more short stories hopefully book 2 and even 3 in this series. hint hint.lol
Sam is a young woman looking to get back into the dating game after her beloved best friend and brother is presumed passed from a military accident, his best friend Greg is dealing with his own grief and post war trauma and also trying to convince Sam they are perfect for each other can they both heal or will life pull them apart? Will God show them the road together?
It’s wonderful how Laura Marshall weaves a path through the beauty of God’s love for us to paint a picture for us in this extremely good book. Don’t miss reading it.

Sweet but a little odd

Because it's a short story, we don't get a whole lot of info about the MCs outside of the essentials. The dud dates are a little amusing but more kind of inexplicably weird. The hero is good looking, thoughtful & considerate - and on the same Christian page as the heroine. The heroine struggles with her relationship with him because he reminds her of her MIA brother, so he seeks to establish a relationship with her online outside of their known parameters. Which kind of works, but then he has to worry about the dishonesty of it. Things are resolved satisfactorily without unnecessary, overly drawn out angst, but the ending is frustrating - something happens out of nowhere & then the book pretty much stops abruptly there. I thought it must be leading up to the next book in a series but see no sign of one.

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses
*Religion: overtly Christian, short prayers by characters

Sweet, Fun, Entertaining Story!

I had a delightful time reading this book.
I believe this is the first book I've read by this author, yet, hopefully not the last.
This story was full of entertaining moments and wonderful interactions between the characters.
I loved the whole dating website thing. It was fun to read about the many strange personalities Sam came across.
If you want a quick entertaining book to read then this might just be what you're looking for.

What a great story of love.

When you find someone to love, hold tight... that's what I did and I know it was hard for Sam to do that , thinking her brother was gone. But she did find her true love in someone she knew for years, and the ending made me cry.. hope there is a book 2..

Pain Joins Them

She lost a brother, he lost a leg. Together they are friends but he craves more. This book takes you along while he tries to achieve his goals. Good plot and characters. A worthwhile read.

This was a cute story, and I liked the characters. The back and forth between first person and third person was a bit disconcerting. I also feel like this story could use some more polishing.

Too short

I felt like we were just getting to know the characters when it ended. And too many questions up in the air. I

Cute and did a great job of portraying the awkwardness of online dating. I would have loved a longer story.

quick read. Clean romance.

Spoiler: The ending regarding the brother was unbelievable and unnecessary to the love story. Since it was included there needed to be more explanation for it.

One Thousand Winks

One Thousand Winks is beautiful short story. I loved when Sam and her friends had their impromptu prayer meeting. It is wonderful to read a story where friends come together to encourage each other. But, it is even better when those friends know we can't do things through our own strength and that we need Jesus.

Sam was seeking God for the answers she needed and her mother's wonderful advice were great examples of how we should live. And I loved that Greg was honest with Sam, he knew that he needed to tell her the truth and trust God that it would all work out. I can't wait to read the other books in the series and maybe the author will write a wedding story for Sam and Greg.

This was just the right read to brighten up my Friday. I started (and finished) this delightful tale on my lunch break and it was so cheerful and uplifting. Just as playful as the title implies but in a way that you aren't expecting. I am a huge fan of Laura Marshall and this story is just another reason why. I could see a whole series of spin offs from this story (hint to the author). Touching on internet dating, loss, and how unbelievably different people in this world are - as well as reminding us about being willing to give love a chance and to keep faith in the center of a relationship. Simply wonderful!

This sweet short story puts a unique twist on internet dating, tossing in some humor, and two lonely hearts bonded over the death of a friend/family member. Cute dialogue, the storyline is well-paced and full of emotion. A lovely romance, it makes for a quick read, but leaves a huge impact on your heart.
