Sabrina's throwing a Halloween party with a B-movie monster theme. But only Harvey and Jenny show up. Everyone else is at Libby's super-secret "surprise" Halloween affair. Libby's winning the popularity game--until Sabrina's mischievous Aunt Vesta, a real witch, invites some of her friends over for a genuine monster bash!
Soon everyone is partying at Sabrina's, where the zombies, mummy, Wolfman and Frankenstein's monster are stealing the show. Sabrina's busy trying to keep her friends from learning the truth. That's when Libby discovers the magic pantry and meets the young warlock who can help her create some havoc of her own.
Suddenly the party's out of control, and Sabrina's cover as a normal teenager is about to be blown!

Perfekt att läsa nu när det snart är Halloween. Den här boken är det dock bra att se avsnittet där Jenny blir förtrollad till en gräshoppa, jag har inte hunnit så långt nu när jag ser om men är mer taggad än någonsin.
I read a selection of 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' books for a trip down nostalgia lane in a YouTube video (complete with as re-creation of the original iconic Sabrina opening): https://youtu.be/GOKZ-IxwX-4
I was a bit thrown off at the start at this book references a previous Sabrina tv Halloween episode and some other previous stories however it’s not something that has been covered previously in the book. If you like classic horror and Halloween you’ll probably like this book.
Sometimes it's nice to step back from the types of books that feature major mysteries, violence, death and so on and to read something that is just plain fun. The Sabrina: The Teenage Witch (original version of Sabrina) are just that type of book.
(The Sabrina in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is like a somewhat evil twin of Sabrina: The Teenage Witch. That series is very, very dark and has things that the original Sabrina would not, I believe, become involved with under any conditions.) \ Anyhow, Halloween is coming and the school's cafeteria needs to be decorated for Halloween where there will be a party. Libby and Cee Cee are their usual ultra-nasty selves. Libby is going to have her own party and, of course, doesn't want Sabrina there.
So, Sabrina works on Zelda and Hilda until they decide she can have a party. A party with real monsters from various movies as the theme.
This would work wonderfully except for two problems. Libby plans to show up and sabotage the party. Sabrina's Aunt Vesta shows up and her concept of fun doesn't exactly fit the teenage mindset so one heck of a lot of things go wrong. There might, though, be one person who can help her out.
It's a fun read, relaxing in a way. Definitely a change-of-pace from the books I've been reading lately.
I think this was supposed to be vaguely based on the Halloween episode from the second season of the show but the details of the plot are very different.
Very wordy writing style. Definitely above the reading level of the target audience. The beginning/first 50 pages or so are very slow with the characters hemming and hawing about having the Halloween party at all.
Lots of Halloween details which made it fun. Very ridiculous just like the show. Lots of “real” Halloween monsters show up to Sabrina’s party and the witches have to use magic to make sure the mortals don’t remember any of it. There was no candy corn river unfortunately.
Aunt Vesta makes an appearance. And there’s a reference to roller-blahs from the show.
A lot of the initial Sabrina books are just retellings of episodes, and this is one of them with Halloween spent both in the Other Realm and at Harvey's party. It is fun though to get more of character's thoughts and what is going on during the times.
If you're a fan of the show this is a fun tie-in novel to get you in the spirit of the season. The book is rich in detailed description of costumes, decorations and customs to make you feel like you're living through the 90s Halloween.
Quite possibly the worst book I've ever read. I guess trying to make a whole novel, even a short one, out of a TV episode is a bit ambitious, but I'm sure it could be done better that this. The thing that especially got on my nerves was the meticulous descriptions of what everyone was wearing in every 'scene'.
I loved all of the Sabrina tales full of magic. Every story was a different adventure and some new and exciting challenge to overcome. These books made me want to have magical powers too but the ending results were hilarious.
