When George finds a way to escape the spacecraft Artemis, where he has been trapped, he is overjoyed. Surely now he can return to Earth.
But when George touches down, he knows immediately that something is wrong. There’s a barren wasteland where his home town used to be, intelligent robots roam the streets, and no one will talk to George about the Earth that he used to know. With the help of an unexpected new friend, can George find out what – or who – is behind this terrible new world, before it’s too late?
Wow, this was not in the same emotional level for my child. We read the first chapter and had to go find out what happened to everyone to make sure they were ok which they were not. My 13 yr old is crying and not learning about science which is the point. The theme is way too dark.
The idea and the whole story is really great. Most of the first part it did feel a little bit too much for young children, but after a while the story got stronger and stronger. It became a really good story, well told and interesting characters. I have really enjoyed the book and want to read the full series. After the story is finished there is also further explanation about topics in the book, like in this time, artificial intelligence, the future of food.... Short and very interesting way to talk about serious and deep topics.
This 6th book of the series has a bitter sweet ending and quite a twist. Very thought provoking and you realize how much George has grown through the books.
It is a very good book but can be improved. The storyline is very interesting and there are lots of twists and turns. It was a really good read .
The things I liked about this book are- The way the future is portrayed and how the robots evolved. The adventures of all the kids. The vocabulary and language used
The things that can be improved are- I feel that the book would have been a lot better if Annie also travelled with George instead of skipping the decades through time travel. This would have kept the consistency of the series. The ending could have been a bit better as it wasn’t upto the expectations as the rest of the book
Apart from this, the book is amazing and should be read.
I love this series and was sooooo excited to find this in the library but it did not have the same feel as the others. The story line was ok and it was well written but felt inconclusive and almost part of a different series. Just not the conclusion I was looking forward to from this series. I am very disappointed but I still love the other books and this series in general. Just unfortunately probably won't be reading this again anytime soon. :(
This book had so much potential to be great but the author ruined it by adding Donald Trump as the main villain of the story. This book is also definitely not for kids because it is somewhat scary in the beginning. The book is an excuse for the author to make fun of trump and disguised as a children’s book. Could have been a fun book but ruined by adding political views.

Σειρά: The George Series, Βιβλίο: 6

My 9 year old and I read this book after loving the other five books in the series. While this one wasn't as good as the previous five, it was still a fun read.
This book seems more like just a normal story than the other books. The other books in the series seemed a bit more story and educational. This was just a straight forward story. While this story still focused on George, it just seemed like a totally different book compared to the series.
The plot was interesting though and shows how the world could really be if certain people are given too much power. Speaking of which, my son and I laughed at the whole Trellis Dump thing! We loved it, and we knew exactly who the book was referencing when it came to Trellis Dump. (We also agreed that Dump sounded just like his real life counterpart!)
We loved all the different new characters that George met, but we were really missing Annie. I liked reading about George and Annie's adventures together not seperately.
In this book, all the educational essays are at the very end instead of mixed in with the chapters like the previous books in the series had done. My son and I did prefer when they were mixed in with the chapters instead at the end of the book.
All in all, this was still a good book. We were still left with a few questions, in particular, one major one about George's family. I wish that lose end had been tied up before the book (and series) ended.
George takes a space trip - he’s done this before - but not with this spaceship. Bad idea. He doesn’t have control so he can only land when the spaceship decides to land. But is he on earth? Hint: time travel. Very disturbing maybe for some children. But funny for adults unless you are. Trumpet. The world leader is Trellis Dump = Donald Trump. In case, the reader is doubtful, he proclaims that he has the best brain and the best hotel. He also like to do things bigly. (Which spell check doesn’t recognize as a word). His reply to every statement he doesn’t like is that it is fake news. Also he has a wall. (I’m sure it is beautiful - to him). I didn’t like the ending. I found it disturbing. Of course as I thought about the ending I expected, I realized it had disturbing implications as well (but they may not have been evident to children reading the book) Hint: it’s the time travel issue. I think this may be the end of the series; but, I am not sure. Good articles by scientists in the appendix to encourage children to enter various scientific fields. One of the articles talked about the risk of viral pandemics to our world and the need for more research. This was published in 2019 before COVID-19 entered the world stage. So very prescient!
I rated it only 3 stars, but I appreciate the entire serie, which overall deserves a big 5 from my side. I enjoyed more having the science facts integrated in the story at the right time, than reading them all at the end. Also the story itself didn't convince me. It is one view over a possible future, with a lower probability from my point of view, in the story, and with too much elements too forced. Also some drawings not in line with description (example when George was on Boltzmann's sholder he should be in his astronaut costume, with the oxygen tube on his back, in the picture it was not. It doesn't seem maybe too much, but when imagining a story and describing it by words and picture aside, I feel the need for perfect match). Overall great serie and I believe it is much more than a SF children story. We should all learn from it and challenge our mind for questions, which might lead to some great answers!
This review is from my Son who just turned 13 years old. I like the George series they are fun, tons of information and has me on the internet looking up some of the facts that are mix in with the fictional story. The book is easy and fun to read (Even though my mom is making all of us read for 20 mins every day this summer and it sucks). Book is good and I liked it a lot.
Moms turn: My son has a love for space and this series is perfect for the kid who is into fact and fiction but not wizards. It is a fun read for parents to read along with their kids before bed. The characters and story low perfect with the facts of space and time.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Corgi Childrens for the advance copy of Lucy Hawking George and the Ship Of Time.
It is a very good book and has a lot of depth in it. It makes the reader wonder what will happen to Earth in the future , if yes then will there be a duo like George and Annie to save it from people like Dump == SPOILER ALERT == My favorite part was when George somehow found his childhood friend Annie. It is also a pity that there's no space travel in the future. My favorite characters were (except for George and Annie) were Atticus and Matushka(Nimu makes a close 2nd). I also think that the hero Matushka was talking about was Annie. The moral is never go into a space ship called Artemis!!! Just kidding the real moral was that take care of the Earth and always vote for good leaders and don't be bribed.

Just finished reading the entire George series for my 7-year old daughter and 8 year old son. They love it, including the theoretical parts. I found the books very interesting and educational myself. The story line did drag on a bit too long and the endings were quick! (After 320 pages of adventure and problem encountering, everything got "solved" in the last 10 pages). Another interesting thing about this last book was the obvious comparison of Trellis Dump to Donald Trump and the similari utopia in this book and "Brave new world".
I really enjoyed this book, as an adult. Not sure how children would receive it. Growing kids from eggs, implanting them with brain monitors to control everything in their world is really intense so don't introduce to kids too young. The political commentary on power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely is beyond a child and meant to warn against putting to much power in the hands like POTUS45 was presented well to those who believe in true democracy and already know this.
The worst book in the entire series. The story is full of plot holes, Donald Trump is the main villain, Cosmos has no role, Annie has been ruined, Eric has been written out of the series, Susan is dead, Terence, Dasy, Hera, and Juno are probably dead too, and half the world has been destroyed. It's terrible. Don't read it, but if you already have, consider it George's dream.

Wowza! It's been a long time since I've inhaled a book in one sitting. Yes, I'm an adult and this is considered a Juvenile level book, but the topics it covers are ones that a parent will want to sit down and discuss (have a book club with) their child(ren).
This is sadly the last book in the George series as Stephen Hawkings has passed away. This book talks about the future and the strange things that are happening in the future.
