In a strange new dimension, many unexpected encounters guide Willow on the quest to return magic to her world. While she's increasingly better at keeping her darkest self at bay, her mystery companionMarrakencourages darkness, making Willow wary of his intentions while dependent on his knowledge of this magically abundant realm. Just how far down the path of volatile magic will she go to get what she wants? And whom might she find there? Coincides with events in _Buffy_ Season 9.
I still don't understand why Willow is just implicitly trusting Marrak, he seems even more shady in this issue. Suspicious. Liked the appearance of an old S8 face, but is it kind of odd that Willow just happens to end up on the world they're on? Seems too simple, but perhaps with only 5 issues it has to be simple.
What's really interesting, and slightly creepy, is . That was just freaky. What's going on there? I'm guessing it ties in to the main S9 story, and I'm eager to find out. Enjoying this mini much more than the Spike mini, think it's going to end up in a very well done and interesting resolution, esp as Christos Gage is joining the writing on the last 3 issues and as I've stated many times Angel & Faith has been the strongest title under the Season 9 umbrella.
Another thing that was interesting, that I nearly forgot:
Willow and her friend Marrak are being chased by a monster but Willow figures out what to do. The caterpillar gives them some advice on what lies beyond and how to prepare for it. The run in to flying nightmares.
Willow runs into a naga and ends up kissing her. It turns out she taught Willow a lot about magic. The naga leads her to what she calls a witch's paradise. The blade is reforged but thinks don't go well.
Second issue was just as good as the first. Willow continues to meet some interesting characters (including some familiar ones!) and is starting to figure out her quest is probably going to be even more difficult than first anticipated. Can't wait to see what the next issue holds!
