Duffy lives on Earth in a lush tropical region with frequent hurricanes, formerly known as Canada. People of all kinds have gathered in this survivable Northern region to share resources and create a new way of life. A climate refugee from the south stops at Duffy's robo cafe and is chased by tribal police, Duffy is accused of harboring illegals and finds himself on the run!
On planet Gaeiou, populated by sentient Toads and Turtles and connected to Earth by a mysterious quantum effect, two school friends Toad Pagnellopy and Turtle Xippix, rally to stop the destruction of their planet by industrial practices which are causing a modern ice age. Pagnellopy and Xippix quest to gain the help of the mystical wild cats of Light Forest who are able to communicate on a quantum level with all life and even see into the beyond. Opposing their quest are numerous global forces entrenched with old ideas who even threaten the lives of the two school chums.
On Earth, Duffy's friend Jameson recommends an anonymous escape from the authorities into the country where the famous two-spirit performer Starblaze Sturgeon lives in a village of artists. Duffy leaves the sanctuary of his cafe to avoid deportation South. Duffy meets Starblaze and begins having strange dreams of the planet Gaeiou, the struggles of the Toads and Turtles to save their world. Duffy's fate seems to be entwined with Starblaze Sturgeon's and visions of Planet Gaeiou come every time Duffy falls asleep. The climate refugee from the South keeps making mysterious appearances, while riding a train they witness the refugee involved in what looks like a murder! Is he somehow connected to the recurring dreams of this strange planet which is also suffering an environmental catastrophe?
On Gaeiou the forces of planetary protection gather to occupy one of the industrial sites where the pollution is originating. Pagnellopy and Xippix along with Pagnellopy's Grandstar broadcast the struggle and the movement spreads like fire across the planet. Toads and Turtles act out in solidarity with the planetary protectors while the inertial forces move against them. Does life on planet Gaeiou have the wisdom, love, and courage to win?
On Earth a hurricane roils off the coast of Greenland and turns West, headed towards Duffy, Starblaze, and the Fugitive on a speeding train racing against the storm while the resonating vibrant spirits of Earth and Gaeiou move toward an interconnected conclusion. Will it be survival or extinction?

A Good Read.

I liked the story. Futuristic & dystopian yet current. I can see the far north truly being a refuge in the centuries - maybe decades. Novel idea. Well written and entertaining. Good job Mr. Wildwood.
