Seemed to be an opportunity for the author to show of his photos of visiting these sites, with summarized descriptions from Joseph Allen, author of "Sacred Sites".
Beautiful and stunning photography of Mesoamerican (and some Incan) ruins. Though I'm very uncomfortable with the authors' interpretations saying such and such a ruin is such and such city from the Book of Mormon. To me that is very presumptuous and dangerous. I was much more comfortable with the thematic interpretations of Quetzalcoatl and other artistic motifs. The book explained little about the ruins and left me with more questions than I began with. The last chapter seemed very jumbled and confused as if it were just cobbled together without any organization or direction because it mixed photographs and explanations of two civilizations very far apart in space and time (Incans and Tikal).
Great photos accompanied by very interesting, informative text about the history of Meso America and where the ancient Nephite/Lamanite/Jaredite civilizations existed. One thing I found very interesting are the huge engraved stones that kept track of years and kings, and one particular symbol found over and over again on all of these stone tablets, when translated reads: "and it came to pass."
Phenomenal pictures! The author displays mostly pictures from Ancient America and suggests tie-ins to the Book of Mormon peoples. He also debunks some popular theories in the process. I'm glad I bought it!
