When a missing girl speaks through a medium at a séance, implicating a wealthy businessman in her death, Eddie McCloskey gets the call.
Eileen Hunter’s disappearance made national headlines. Now a medium with a shady past, Emily Bradford, claims to know what happened to her. She points the finger at her cousin, Scott Cassell.
The problem is, Scott and Emily have a contentious history, and Scott has no apparent motive to have murdered the woman. And when Eddie and his partner Stan arrive on the scene, they discover quickly that the medium did not follow standard protocols when conducting the séance. Eddie smells a big rat here.
And then things get wayyyyy more complicated.
As Eddie and Stan peel back layer after layer of deceit, they find themselves on the trail of something much darker, much deadlier than either could possibly imagine. Their investigation will lead them toward sinister forces intent on carrying out a horrifying mission. Eddie has never faced evil like this before.
The Possessed is the seventh book in the Eddie McCloskey paranormal thriller series.
Oh how much I love me some Eddie McCloskey should be shameful. Too bad I'm not ashamed in the least bit by my love for him and for this series. I've read all seven books in this series and love every single one of them. Evan Ronan has a way of describing things that isn't overdone but you still get a good picture of what he's saying.
Eddie gets a call from his new client taking him and Stan to Tampa Florida. Their client Scott was accused by a medium for the murder of missing Eileen Hunter. Eddie and Stan always know the right questions to ask to get to the bottom of the problem. It doesn't take long before things start to get dangerous for Eddie but what else is new?
Poor Eddie he always finds danger, wherever he goes it finds him. He did seem to be a little more careful in this book, a lot less reckless. I love his thought process and how you can see him solving the mystery right before your eyes. Eddie has grown up so much since the first book and I loved, loved, loved that he found love. Finally Eddie has found love! I liked that Stan was in this one more because their friendship is so great.
The demonic possession was a good touch it made it feel like the first one again for a little while. This one had more action though. The ending was so thrilling, I'm pretty sure I held my breath through a lot of it. There was a moment that I was so scared for Eddie. Bravo, Evan Ronan on that one because I was truly worried there for a second.
That's why there needs to be at least one more book. I will be heartbroken if I don't to find out more about Eddie. Especially with Eamon still being out there after what he did to Tim in book one. I need closure from that. I highly recommend this entire series for all the paranormal lovers out there.
I bought the first six books in a box set, and I was hooked. I found The Possessed on Kindle Unlimited and downloaded immediately! Just like the rest of the series, I was not disappointed! These books have everything I enjoy: paranormal, crime, mystery, hair-raising thrillers, and they're emotionally stacked with well-developed characters. The world building is impeccable. Eddie McClowsky is one to never underestimate; he's been through it all and has the scars to prove it. I am overjoyed to have stumbled upon a new-to-me author whose books keep me turning the page. I'm excited to read Book eight. I read the author's notes about how he had originally planned maybe eleven books, but sales had been dwindling. I can't imagine not reading more of this series. I'm positive I'll have a serious book hangover after reading the next. Find the box set, The Unearthed, and then make your decision. I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed. This is five-star book and series! I highly recommend it. You'll find humor, emotions running wild, and of course, the paranormal with many twists and turns that will leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat. Evan Ronan, you deserve high praise for this series. Magnificent!
Maybe I'm just nit-picky but I had real issues with this book. Not with the actual plot, it was great. Interesting, action packed and original. I liked the mystery of what was actually happening to Scott and to his daughter Becky. I liked the incorporation of the medium Bobbi and the ghost hunter. My issues are the same ones I have with all of books in the Eddie McCloskey series, the lack of proofreading. We got the name changes again. At the beginning of the book the ghost hunter is Ramon Castillo but by the end he ends up being Raul. Giles is now Giles Sherwood while in the previous books he's Giles Tyson. The spelling of Rosey/Rosie changes back and forth. In chapter 35 Mooney is watching Gunther at the gym but it states he's looking across the church parking lot. It isn't until chapter 38 that Gunther actually gets to the 1st Unitarian Church. Also for Eddie to freak out about the possibility of Tim begin a traveler attached to him in chapter 37 is strange when Bobbi has already mentioned this to him in chapter 17. His reaction is way out of proportion as if he's only hearing this for the first time.
I'll be honest, I think my expectations for this series are going to be too high. I wanted more creepy ghost story chills. I just don't think the author's writing style is detailed enough to create the atmosphere I'm looking for. I do enjoy that these books do vary in terms of focus and think they make fun mystery thrillers. I'm glad to see Eddie's character growth since the first book. He's become likable and complex and with the addition of Sumiko he's not such a chauvinistic pig.

Evan please keep sharing your vision. Eddie is a great character and you write him so well. He is incredibly relatable (well aside from the whole paranormal expert thing) and charming and fun and my favorite part, that good man in the storm thing he has going for him. This series has been one of my favorites and I'll miss him. Thank you for bringing him to life. I hope we'll see him again some day.
First off let me say that this book was so good that I just ate it up. It was as intense as book 4: Hysteria. If you haven't read any other Eddie McCloskey book, not to worry because you will still enjoy this book. Although I do highly suggest you read the others as they are just as enjoyable and addictive and each book is unique in it's story line. With that said...
This book kicks off from the jump when Eddie McCloskey receives a call from a man in Florida by the name of Scott Cassell, who is in dire need of Eddie's expertise to debunk a so called medium. This medium has just claimed Scott was the murderer of a missing girl named Eileen Hunter, daughter of a pro golfer. He knows that Eddie has a reputation for debunking so called supernatural events and needs his help to debunk this medium to save his reputation and his livelihood and possibly his freedom. And the kicker is that the medium is no stranger to Scott Cassell but rather the medium is his own cousin Emily Bradford.
Eddie takes Stan with him on this investigation and from the start Eddie and Stan are not too sure about Scott's claims of innocents when they continue to catch him in half truths and dodging questions and his mood swings just add to their mistrust of Scott. But something is eating at Eddie that he's not ready to call it quits and head home with Stan. Things pick up steam from there and like a locomotive it goes on full force and things get real dicey for all involved and as you can guess not all come out of this alive.
I've loved every one of the Eddie McCloskey books but the most intense books that had me clenching my jaw as I read were book 1: The Unearthed, book 4: Hysteria, and now this book, #7. Just when you think you know where the story is going or why something is happening you start to find out that you weren't quite on the mark. Some things didn't come out all too clear to me and I didn't get all the answers I wanted but I got the answers I needed and that's enough. I was happy to see how Eddie and Stan came out of this investigation but I was terribly sad when the book ended because I just wanted more.
Not only was I sad because it was the end of a really good book, that I ate up, but because the author left a note at the end stating that this could be the last book in the series and that would be tragic if it were. I truly believe there is more to be written about Eddie as the author has yet to tie up things with Eddie and his archenemy Eamon Moriarty and I would like to see if Eddie does in fact get married to his fiance in a big to do wedding or do they elope.
If you are reading these reviews Mr. Evan Ronan I hope this will convince you that your fans are not ready to let go of Eddie and beg you to write one more book and give us a story to end all stories.
I have read multiple Ronan books and this is a favorite. It flows well and keeps us guessing. I like the characters and their interactions. It’s a quick and satisfying read.
Scott Cassell has been accused of murder by a medium at a seance, he calls in Eddie to clear his name. What he finds is not what it seems and it goes far deeper, than discrediting a medium with an axe to grind. Good story that moves at a nice pace, keeping Eddie and Stan on there toes.
In this episode Eddie ventures from the regular paranormal into the dark underworld of possession and ultimate evil. A fast paced intense read. I can hardly wait for book eight
As usual a fast-paced and entertaining read! The thing I truly enjoy about the series is within each novel you think you have it figured out then the author adds a little more. I believe the author was extremely creative in Book Seven and the introduction of new character(s); questions of good demons versus bad demons; Tim...okay I don't want to be one of those spoiler reviews so I will stop. With each of the books thus far I have found myself reading them each in one setting...finding the book hard to put down.
I also appreciate that the author doesn't spend 4-8 pages describing a hallway, room or a person. In my opinion he has a knack for providing enough information but is able to keep a steady tempo keeping the reader engaged in the story.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire Eddie McCloskey series and hope it continues....looking forward to Book Eight!!!
I truly hope to read the next in this series, I don't want Eddie's story to end just yet. This was my favorite by far, yet loved them all. Read and you won't be disappointed. Actual paranormal in this book. You feel each character. Thank you Evan Ronan
I enjoyed reading this Eddie McCloskey paranormal series and hope you continue with more books in this series. I don't normally read paranormal books but the mystery intertwined kept me interested throughout.
Thank you Mr Ronan. I was glad I was able to spend another enjoyable weekend with Eddie and Stan. I hope w won't be the last. Eddie always makes e think of ways I can improve my own life.
Eddie and his adventures are amazing and scary ! This story like the others grabbed you from page 1 and takes you on a thrill ride till the end. It makes me sad that this may be the last of Eddies adventures, I sure hope not
