Daddy Bear (Part One) was previously included in the USA Today Bestselling title: Shifters in the Spring.
Fleeing from the altar on her wedding day, Abby crashes into a ditch during a heavy snowstorm. Her day gets even worse when help arrives in the form of a sexy, burly beast of a man. However instead of taking her to the hospital he "kidnaps" Abby and takes her to a cabin far from civilisation, thrusting her into his crazy and dangerous world, which is full of countless surprises.
Theo is tired of being hunted, however he made a promise to never give up, and the last thing he needs is further delays. But when he comes across a car wreck in the middle of nowhere and finds a feisty damsel in distress, just one look at her and a feeling—one he hasn’t felt for a long time—stirs within him. Torn between his responsibilities and the promise he made, Theo has no other choice but to take the woman… for his own.
Both are running from something… is it fate that caused their paths to cross? But what secrets is Theo hiding? And what on earth does he want with Abby?
Author's note: Contains a HFN and a partial cliffhanger, which is concluded in Daddy Bear (Part Two).
This part one concludes at a happy place, and if I don't find part two in Kindle Unlimited I will be happy with the story I have gotten, so while I know there is more for these characters, there is not a cliffhanger, and it feels more like a done in one.
Because this is a short novella, it is light on world building, but given it is effectively set in the here and now that worked for me for the most part.
Abby's imagination was perhaps my favorite part of this story as it added some fun and light hearted humor in unexpected places and ways.
For a young woman that could not have a child the job she chose for gives her the thing that she most wants only there is one thing that is holding her from taking was that she had to find any information that there was about the company that the farther of the child she looked after .I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁

This is a sweet romantic suspense. I received a copy for an honest review.
If I had known what this was going in I wouldn't have picked it up. Not because of the author or story or anything but because it's part book. I detest paying for a book and only getting a little part of the story.
I read this tale as part of the Shifters in the Spring anthology and it wasn't labelled as Part One. Personally I think it should have been or a different story should have been chosen for the anthology. It's really frustrating to read a bunch of new to me authors with complete tale's and then get to one that is only half finished. The story itself wasn't enough to make me pick up the next one immediately, unlike what I did for a few of the other authors. It's a shame really, had it been the full Daddy Bear story I may have purchased more by the author, as it was I was just getting to like the story and it ended, which is fine if a part story is what you knowingly purchased and you enjoy that kind of thing. I personally don't.
She escaped her wedding and ended up in an accident. Instead of the hospital, she is brought to a cabin and told to keep out of the other room. Her rescuer has some serious secrets.
I read this as part of the Shifters in the Spring collection. It ends on a cliff-hanger and the second part of the series has now been released.
There is an intense attraction and connection between Abby and Theo. She is fearful of the secret he is keeping but can't deny her desire for him. Theo has been under intense pressure and Abby gives him some hope for a different future.
For a short story its packed full to the brim with action.
Abbey races from the church ditching her lying cheating husband to-be at the altar as she flees, little does she know that's just the start of her problems. Loads going on in this, some good humour in between the madness that happens the moment she meets Theo. Theo brings his own troubles into her life, very quickly this becomes a dangerous situation for all concerned a nail biting book with a shifter styled attraction thrown in at the most inconvenient times.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story made me laugh so much! Abby is a heck of a firecracker and Theo is not taking any of her attitude, he has no problem with using his strength to get what he wants. After running from the alter Abby crashes, and is saved by Theo, and what kindness does she give him in return? A fist to the head and then she bites him! So together they try to get to Theo's cabin before a storm hits, but with Abby's attitude, another kind of storm follows them everywhere they go. Will she ever calm down and find out what Theo really wants, and what he is hiding?
This story is part of the boxed set, Shifters in the Spring, so this review is from that set. I really like the this story but I hate to tell you that this story has a cliffhanger. Ms Hawkes has added a link that should continue the story. Abby runs away from her wedding when she realizes she can't marry Travis. She steals his car and manages to crash into a tree in a snowstorm wearing her very expensive wedding gown. Theo argues with himself. Should he check the car in the ditch for survivors? Should he just pretend he didn't see it since he is in a hurry?
I liked the story, but it could really use some fleshing out. I liked Theo, especially the name, and Abby. I loved that Abby had a smart mouth on her even when it wasn't in her best interest.
This story is included in the anthology, Shifters in the Spring, which is where I read it.
How is the author's writing? Okay Is there violence? Yes Is there sexual content? Yes How is the story narrated? Alternating persons
Received this book from the author for an honest review.
The story is a little short on details before jumping into the situation faced by Abby and Theo. Due to the serial nature of this book I don't want to give spoiler information.
Lets just say Abby is running and so is Theo. Read the story to find out how they meet.
Sometimes your life can change drastically in only a few hours. One minute she's running from the church and the man she had thought she was going to marry. Then she has a freak accident and ..... Oh my things start happening. Leaves you wanting more and looking to see what comes next.
Was released in shifters in the spring box set , with a second part coming! Wow let me tell you Theo definitely has his hands full as does Abby ( although she did have a horrible day overall!) Some knockout punches, overall a fun read with some secrets in the mix
