On paper, this volume should've been pretty exciting — a big rescue mission, huge showdown between the heroes and the villains, and the debut of All Might's arch-nemesis... But the writing quality just wasn't there this time around. The events were hard to follow, so I was constantly wondering what exactly was going on at any given moment. Plus, it's Dragon Ball Z all over again — the fun and excitement of the early days is far behind, and the new darker tone with the new lamer scarier villains is too jarring. I did like Bakugo in this volume though, which is a first — I normally can't stand the guy.

THE HYPE NEVER STOOOOOOPS
It has been a never-ending hype train ever since volume 9, and it's still goooing!!!!
I find the villain's motivations fresh and unique and multi-layered. Good writing, Horikoshi!!
Explanation marks because All Might always talks with explanation marks!
Though not going to lie, I'm kind of over these villains! Maybe I'm too used to the "villain of the arc" formula of every other shonen, because it feels weird that this one villain (Shigaraki) is still around running the game, 10 volumes in. He's a pretty interesting villain though, all that said. Like how he's all immature and being coached in the ways of eeevvil by an even bigger baddie.
By the way I love Bakugo, he is my son, thank you and good night.
(I have to go to sleep but I have the next volume literally right behind me and so???? There is really no decision here to be made!!!!!)

Note to self: Now I think about it more carefully, I realized the teacher in My Hero Academia are idiots. I mean, the adult pro heroes mostly have eye mask, helmet or face mask on (only All Might and a few others do show their faces), but they would just let the underage UA students to go on a national live broadcast when everyone can see their faces and know their full names!? That makes no fucking sense! As much as I like this series it's still a massive plot hole. XD
PS:I can't rate the manga series because I've only watched the anime! But I'm smitten anyway!
PSS: talking about All Might, I just adore this dorky guy!!!!

But really though, I LOOOOOOOVE how Aizawa defends his students. HIS class 1-A. Bakugo isn't going anywhere unless it's the #1 hero spot.
Also...side note, I need Mr. Compress in an actual novel. That power? That charisma? The entertainment?? That would fit right in with a book like Clockwork Angel, Caraval, or even freaking Mistborn: The Final Empire

So the villains ask Bakugo to join their side. This was another scene Horikoshit ripped off from the Sasuke retrieval mission of Naruto. Only thing, Sasuke had a reason to betray his village. He wanted to kill his brother. Bakugo has nothing, his life has no real adversity. If anything, he already is a villain for torturing children and then telling them to end themselves. Thus Bakugo refuses since not only he’s already a villain, he is also a prodigy in the hero academy. He already has the best of both worlds so why would he sacrifice one for the other? Thus this great moment that made Bakugo to come off as a badass once again had absolutely no depth. Also the villains are presented as complete idiots once again since their plan made no sense and the whole abduction fuss was pointless. Hey, let’s bring him on our side although he has no reason to do so! Once again, Horikoshit had no idea how to make compelling adversaries.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting so much drama and intensity from Bakugo’s kidnapping and the fallout of it, but on the flip side it makes sense from both inside the school and public opinion on heroes and villains overall going forward.
But despite all the drama and tension there’s still classic humor like the disguise scene! I nearly died laughing at how RIDICULOUS they all looked, not to mention I thought it hilarious that Todoroki had his name over him the whole time as if we’d forget who he was while no one else did, lol! And not to be outdone but pizza delivery!!!! 🤣🍕(if you know, you know) I LOVED that and found a clip from the anime of that exact scene and the looks on everyone’s faces was priceless! 🤣🤣
I also am starting to like Bakugo? I NEVER would have thought I’d end up here, but he’s actually growing on me, the shocker! He could still stand to be nicer to Deku but I think that’s going to take some more time, if they ever get to a friendly point at all.
And, um, hold up, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!?! I immediately had to jump into Volume 11 after I finished this one because what the absolute HECK?!?! Things are going DOWN!

Other: superheroes/supervillains/superpowers; a character is kidnapped and chained up; a guy has no face just a wrinkled head; monsters with brains on the outside of their heads are “soaked” in huge tubs

It was fascinating to see how everyone felt about their role as heroes after the dreadful outcome from the previous volume.
The struggle to act going up against their public image is an excellent theme explored in this story arc and it is even more intriguing with an exciting confrontation being cooked up.

Entertaining! A continuance of the heroes facing off against the group of villains targeting Bakugo. This was more of the adult heroes fighting and that was interesting.

Darker in tone but a bit confusing with some plot lines. It had all the hallmarks of potentially a good story (revenge rescue) but it just didnt seem to go anywhere.

The tenth volume and things are getting even more harrowing when the battles intensify and things get even bigger. But there is also more. Because we also see what happens afterwards. See the heroes try to plan something thanks to one of the students and her quirk. And we see our students make up a plan. But is it really a good idea? Given what happened with Stain and how they were treated. I was proud of the kids, though I also found them dumb. Haha, especially Deku. I get it, you want to save your friend. But you just broke everything and you got some heavy news as well.
And then we also get to see the POV of the villains and see Bakugo and his reactions. I really loved that we got to see so many POVs.
The ending was a big HOLY HELL. I keep thinking that things couldn't get more scary, more exciting, and then boom, you get throw a fastball. XD I need the next volume. Hopefully soon!

This was a good volume. It’s just a lot of set up for the epic battle between All Might and All for One. Tenya had some really great moments when he punched Deku for wanting to go with this stupid plan. Then when he stops Deku from going in there and thinking ‘I will protect you’. That’s just…he’s such a bro and I love him.

Another good volume. This one is the end of the battle at the summer camp and the continuation of the fight outside of it. The kidnapping of a student as well as all the injured does not make UA look good and the perspective of the people is changing.
