DONALD D. ALLAN is an award-winning author for the New Druids epic fantasy series. He is best known for his knowledge of just about everything – just ask him, he’ll tell you. He takes being a geek to massively huge geek levels – like level twelve. That’s pretty high. Mostly, he’s an introvert pretending to be an extrovert and so far, he’s fooling everybody. Wine helps.
He loves lying around and planning his next activities, such as yard work, house repairs, cleaning, cooking, etc. He plans a lot, but never really completes it. But planning is everything. He does complete novels though, and that surprises most people. They say “YOU wrote a book?”
Donald lives with his wife Marilyn, son James, daughter Katherine, and dog Woody, in Ottawa, Canada. Yup, he’s Canadian. Respect.
This, the second book in the series of novels about the new druids is even stronger than the first book, seems as though Allan is going from strength to strength in his writing. Will Arbor, the last of the druids is also gaining more powers, Gaea has spoken to him directly and he has met his mate in another druid, one who knew his mother and can fill him in on his past. Together they have been tasked to teach and train other druids as the fight between them and the church was getting closer. The evil Seth Farlow who led the sect, the strong arm of the church was out to kill the last druid who he called the target and his evil knew no bounds. However this book is full of wisdom about balance and the harmony necessary for the world to function and our environment to thrive, about the will of our earth mother, Gaea. Even more so we get to see the wisdom in the acceptance of the good representative of the church as opposed to the evil Seth in the person of Brent Bairstow who wears a double sided medallion, on one side is the symbol of the church and on the other the triskelion of the druids. Can he be the person to bring peace between the two rivals and together with Will Arbor and Nadine bring the much needed harmony to their world? What a beautiful novel this was, I am so dying to read book 3, even amidst all the death there was the beauty of letting go and returning to the earth and to Gaea.
This is part two of an intriguing series as Will Arbor continues the journey and still has the Church of the New world order to contend with and meets new characters in the ultimate fight for survival. This is a great addition to the series and I suggest readers grab both books because this is a story you will want to pick up and savor all the way through. Well done story and great writing by an author I have just learned about.
Will Arbor has met his true love who was given her youth and vitality back by Gaia in order to help teach the next generation of Druids. The evil Seth Farlow continues to track them down to finish the Purge he helped start. He believes it is God that is directing him; however there is something evil and sinister about his "God". Will and Nadine travel at the behest of Gaia to find more of their kind and teach them the way of the Druids. Old friends are reunited and new friends are made and lost. This story is full of action, intrigue, mystery, and love. I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait to find out what happens next! This is a classic story of corruption in the Church and their hatred of anything they consider to be evil. Much like the Burning Times in our own history.
Don my friend you amaze me. This book was riveting from cover to cover (well digital cover). Hard to put it down and started Stoc already. Mmm the New Druids series is starting to interfere with both my music and my work LOL.
This is the second book in the New Druids Series. The power struggle continues between the Sect and demons. Will, one of the demons, is continuing to develop his ability to interact and feel what animals and human are feeling, when he is captured. His escape teaches a lot about himself and provides a loyal companion. The story contains violence and a few surprises. Although the epilogue from Duilleog, was provided, some readers might find it helpful to read the entire book first.
