Rege's Rescue

Rate this book
Rege Rovnitov battled his way out of the darkest hell hole in the charted universe to become the best tracker in four galaxies. Fighting injustice, he and his brotherhood have spent their lives with one foot on the shady side of the law. When the daughter of one of his allies is abducted by slavers, he offers his skills to bring her home. On such a dark and dangerous mission, he never expected to find a woman full of goodness and light.

After years in the spotlight as an interstellar songbird, Amethe Madigan only wants to regain a normal life. Her plans are upended when a band of slavers take her captive and drag her to the galactic port known as Sin City. With Rege’s help, she narrowly escapes being sold to the highest bidder, or worse, turned over to whoever ordered her kidnapping. As they race across galaxies evading her mysterious abductor’s attempts to possess her, she makes the mistake of falling in love with a man whose idea of a normal life is anything but safe.

Rege promised to rescue Amethe but she could be his salvation from a dark and lonely existence. In the end it won’t matter who saved whom. Where love is concerned, it’s winner takes all.

Action and love hit every high note!

Rege was saving the world one galaxy jump at a time, but this time he was looking out for a fellow ‘brother’ when he offered to save his daughter. Amethe had been kidnapped but Rege knew all the scum in the universe and was uniquely suited to help.

I LOVED these characters. They were down-to-earth, resourceful, funny, smart and clicked better than veggies and jello ever could! They listened to each other and respected each other’s opinion. Of course, they also admired each other’s *ahem* physical attributes. They built their relationship supersonic-quickly while dodging laser blasts and bounty hunters, but the pace felt just right. There was action and intrigue, lust and emotion in a futuristic story that balanced everything perfectly.

No, really, perfectly. I laughed, I swooned, I thought this was a couple uniquely suited to each other despite their surface differences.

I laughed…

“…if she could hit a cricket at one hundred yards it would be no problem to blast his balls off if anyone went near you with restraints.”

I sighed dreamily…

“…if by some chance they got all the way through, they’d have to deal with me… No one wants to do that.”

This story blocked everything else out until the last page was turned. Blissful sigh… I need more! ~ Diane, 5 stars

I was kind of iffy on reading this book. I’m wasn’t looking for a book to read – I have many books on my e-reader and my shelf that are unread! Should I even add a new-to-me author to my reading list at this point?

Luckily, my sub-conscious nudged me to go forward with Rege’s Rescue. Sometimes I just need to stop thinking so much and go with my feelings. It can pay off just like it did when I read this book!

Speaking of going with feelings, in Rege’s Rescue, Rege and Amethe need to figure out how to do that too. We’ve all seen it. Two people who are obviously developing feelings for each other, but they think of a million reasons why it will never work. In Rege’s Rescue, it will take about 230 pages for the heroine and hero to figure out the payoff, but it is so worth watching them do it. In the meantime, Rege and Amethe will have some adventures, get into trouble and need saving. And repeat! The book is mostly romance, but there is a lot of fun and danger along the way.

Rege and Amethe are personality opposites. Rege is dark and, dare I say, brooding. Convinced his past has made him no good. Amethe is light and cheerful, despite the nasty situation she has gotten thrown into. She has had the advantage of having a family that has made sure her life has been decent. Amethe sees the good in everyone. Is this an opposites attract romance? I don’t think so. While Rege may be drawn to Amethe’s inherent goodheartedness, I don’t think Amethe is looking at Rege’s dark past. She sees the man who rescued her in the present.

There is not much of a back story here. Rege’s past is murky as is the history of the group of men he has banded with to save the universe from evil. Amethe’s father and brother also have critical roles, but not much character development. These were just things I considered after I had read the book and did not detract from the story. Like I said, the book is mostly romance. A well developed heroine and a complex hero were all that was necessary to enjoy Rege’s Rescue.

You should consider reading Rege’s Rescue if you like a romance in a futuristic setting, space ships, tough guys, strong women, buddies, family, danger, adventure and a happily ever after!

My copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Since I really liked this author's other book of Emerald island, and also happened to be a big fan of SFR, I thought I should give a try.
The beginning was kind of slow, it took time for me to actually get into the story. About finish reading 25%, slowly interesting.
Hero/ Rege
-Jealous
-Protective
-Bad Ass
Heroine/ Amethe
-Smart
-Singer
-Daddy's girl

The reason why i like this author is the heros she writes. My heroes need to be little jealous and possessive.
Ms. Garson didn't disappoint me at all!

I normally struggle with Sci-Fi romance. Not sure why, but my brain just has a hard time envisioning the high-tech stuff which usually disrupts my enjoyment of the romance. That wasn't the case with Rege's Rescue. Like all of the books I've read by Dena, the story flowed easy for me and let me simply enjoy the romance. And who doesn't love a story where the big bad rescuer is the one who ends up saved in the end? I love watching the alpha heroes fall!

Dena definitely delivered on this one!

This is a great new author in the fantasy scifi space type genre. I have never really read anything like this before. This is one amazing writer I look forward to reading more from.

A race against time to save a friend’s daughter from a fate worse than death for any woman. Being sold on the open market by slavers. Once the mission is successful. The hard questions are left to be answered. Why was Amethe kidnapped? Who was the mystery person that was willing to pay a fortune to have her?

Dena Garson brought to life a world of intergalactic travels. With fast-paced action and strong characters. Rege’s Rescue was a great read from start to finish. Where not only the hero of the piece was kicking butt, but so too was the heroine.

Only one other author I know who can write the perfect Sci-Fi romance like this and her name is Sherrilyn Kenyon.

If you’re a big fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Nemesis Rising, The League series like I am, and waiting anxiously for Born of Blood, then Dena Garson has you covered.

I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I liked it. Definitely. A solid romance during dangerous situations. It was well written. It just felt like it lacked depth. There wasn't much scifi to this romance, other than it takes place in space. Everyone seems human, just living throughout the galaxy. Some of the people, places, events aren't explained much. Like they were there superficially. There wasn't a lot of explaining or back story. The entire book revolved around the romance and the danger that brought them together.

That said, the romance was sweet and engaging. The main danger the couple faced was exciting. The sex scenes were hot. So overall, 3.5 stars.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly didn’t expect to like this novel. It sounded like a space opera, which it not at all my genre, but I was so wrong! Rege’s Rescue was a great romance novel and may have opened a whole new world for me to explore.
The novel begins with fantastic action, a la in medias res. I love when a novel does that. Too much preamble makes me antsy and frustrated, and Amethe’s story doesn’t have any of that. The reader is immediately thrust into her daring rescue. The great dialogue catches you up and keeps you from getting lost even with the crazy names of characters and places. You won’t be bored or exasperated—I promise. This one is all about the love story. It’s not one of those space movies your husband forces you to sit through.
The character development is good within the context of the novel though the back story was a bit weak on Rege. I would have liked to have heard more about his history. The writing is also quite good with fast pacing and numerous turns to navigate. At times, some events were serendipitous, and the grand finale was a tad corny, but those things didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. I could easily see a series in this one!
