Wild Heart #3

Finding Home

Rate this book
After the loss of his partner three years ago, Will’s tired of coming home to an empty house. But getting back out there is only half the battle when most folks are already paired up or batting for the other team.

The last time Rob put his heart on the line, it ended in tears. He’s not about to face that pain again.

One-night stands? No problem. Long-term relationships? Not a chance.

But when Cooper, a Shepard mix, is brought in by a good Samaritan, keeping to his rule of one-and-done is harder than he thinks. Especially when Cooper escapes the shelter and brings both men together in their search to find the missing dog.

Can these two see eye to eye, or will a special canine have to put them in their place?

A great book about Will and Rob - both badly hurt in the past, but both prepared to take a risk on a new relationship and love. Will's ex died in a fire and he has been battling mental health issues ever since along with the guilt of allowing a new man into his life. These two take their time and don't rush into a relationship. Lovely and very believable

***Good Story, but...***

The story itself is good. Third in the Wild Heart series, this book features Rob, shelter worker extraordinaire, and Will, pet grooming entrepreneur, who are brought together by Cooper, a German shepherd mix who runs from every home he’s placed in and heads back to Wild Heart Rescue.

Rob is a sweetheart, and I am glad to see him get his story. Will has a tragically horrific backstory, one for which he is still woefully unhealed. The screaming PTSD broke my heart. The story is a sweet coming together of two men who each have their issues, but clearly mesh beautifully as a pair. There is laughter, sadness, heartbreak, tears, and joy within these pages. There is a lovely happily ever after and wrap-up.

There is also a decided lack of grammar and proofreading. I got yanked out of the story repeatedly due to the spelling issues and nearly didn’t finish it because of them. I can understand a few blips here and there, but this went way beyond that. I can only hope that there will be a revision put out that fixes the multitude of errors, but I was simply unable to overlook the sheer volume of them. I’m rating this at 2.5 stars, rounding up for sites that don’t accept halves.

Awwww! I am so glad Rob finally got his own HEA. We met him in A Fighting Chance as the ex-boyfriend of Greg and employee at the shelter. At first I wasn't quite sure what to think of him, but as we got to know him as the series progressed, I fell in love with him. Rob is a hard worker with a heart of gold, especially when it comes to the animals. He deserved to be happy, and I am so glad he found it with Will.

When Rob and Will meet, neither of them think they want a relationship, but there is something about the other person that draws them together. They become friends, but it is clear that they mean more to each other as time goes on. Will is still struggling with the loss of his boyfriend and love of his life (who died). He feels guilty for wanting Rob and thinking of moving on. Will has to deal with some PTSD from the death itself, as well as deal with not feeling worthy of getting a second chance.

Rob and Will take a chance on each other and it is a wonderful journey.

This is a lovely story of Rob and Will, two wounded souls who find comfort in a love of dogs and along that road find that after loss, comes forgiveness and hope for the new love that they find together. I really liked this quiet story, it was a great continuation of the series and just made me go ahh.
Great story and it was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

A nice wrap up.

I really like this series. I enjoyed all of the characters and their need for a second chance.

Written as a multi pov and can be read as a stand alone.
