Historical Romance set in the world of Heian, Japan of 980 A.D. Reminiscent of ' The Tales of Genji ' and other pillow books written by the ladies of the emperor's court of the day, it is a sizzling love story of a samurai who fights for the safety of the only woman he has ever loved.
Writing along the edge. That’s how I explain what I write. The edge might be the line between magic and reality, science and mysticism or life and death—or just beyond what we conceive of as death. Another dimension? An alternate reality? Some who remember, tell us we live many lives. I wanted to explore that in my writing. How would a past life affect this one? Do we retain tendencies from our previous lives? What do the shamans and wise ones have to share—from all times and places?
My first novel, Dance the Dream Awake, emerged from déjà vu experiences that occurred while traveling in Mexico from Teotihuacan to Oaxaca and on to the Yucatan. By the time I reached the Mayan pyramids of Chichen Itza and Coba, I had the seeds of a story. But I didn’t begin writing it until months later.
And so that first novel is about a past live intruding into a contemporary woman’s life through nightmares and visions. When the terror escalates to an unbearable level, she’s forced to try anything to stop them—even to going into the jungles of the Yucatan. This is a Romantic Suspense novel.
From that story I began the story of Jack from that first novel. He’s motivated to romance Tessa for his own but then there is his past which might just be too much for Tessa. In that novel (to be called Dance the Edge) he has a past life as a samurai in ancient Japan.
But that past life became so compelling that I had to stop and write it as a novel of its own first—the tender love story of Shino and Miyoshi, a sensual Romantic Suspense called Haiku Dance. It’s the hero’s journey of Shino, a boy on the verge of manhood in 980A.D. Japan, forced to leave his mountain home and his dear young female friend, to be trained as a samurai. Will he be able to return to Miyoshi, who it turns out is the love of his life, or will their lives part forever?
So, now I am back to finishing Dance the Edge, third book in the Dance Series.
Samurai and haiku are equally striking in this sweet romance by Cora Ramus’s Haiku Dance. Set in Japan in 980 A.D., this historical romance has been thoroughly researched and demonstrates Ramus’s knowledge and confidence of her subject. This is a story offering adventure and danger in an ancient Japanese culture. Yearning and timeless love hold the reader’s interest until the end as a samurai warrior fights for a love seemingly fated to never be his. -Le Coeur de l'Artiste http://www.djadamson
A romance between a samurai warrior and a woman beyond his reach. The ancient Japanese culture made this an unusual historical read for me. I wasn't sure the author could deliver a happy ending for this couple and I raced to the end. The ancient world may be different, but the passion of the main characters is as intense as any contemporary romance you'll read.
The title is especially appropriate, as the novel is full of delightful Haiku poetry the H/h exchange.
In Haiku Dance, Cora Ramos has crafted a tale of ancient Japan that is full of vivid imagery. The characters she creates are deep and mesmerizing as they lead us along on a fascinating tale of love lost and rekindled. The book is obviously well researched and provides a glimpse into the lives of Japanese royalty, samurai warriors and ordinary people in an unforgettable historic setting. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the many twists and turns of its intriguing storyline.
Love, conspiracy, tradition, power and secrets, they are all part of this book. At times the story moved too slowly but on the whole, it was an interesting read. I lik
First, off reading the preface there was no way I could not read this book. One of the best-written prefaces and I was hooked. I needed to know who he was and he wrote so perfectly about loving. The rest of the book did not disappoint. It is unique, lovely, hot, sensual, engaging, intriguing, and engrossing. I could go on. I loved every aspect of it, from the setting of 970AD (or thereabouts) in Japan. The amount of historical detail is just right, enough to give it an exotic feel but not bogging the story down. Miyoshi is everything I could want in a heroine, she wants so much more than the restrictive life of Court and loves Shino from the time they are kids and never wavers on that love. She has attitude and talent, kindness and a world-view far beyond most young ladies of her stature. While Shino trains to be a samurai and it's a fascinating account of his career until they meet back up again and fall in love. There is intrigue and politics and love and betrayal to go along with the well-told characters and their relationship. LOVED THIS BOOK!!
Haiku Dance has to be one of the most beautiful tales of true love. The author, Cora Ramos takes you on exquisite journey of Japan during ancient times. With lovely glimpses of what it would be like to live during those times, the book quickly grabs you from the start.
The love between Shino, a Samurai Warrior, and Miyoshi starts long before either of them knew it. From childhood their souls connected. I have to say, there was so much to the story with many layers I felt the author did a great job of keeping my interest throughout the book.
Even if you’re not into romance novels, I would still recommend this book to everyone.
