I really enjoyed this book. It's two stories in one by Debbie Macomber. The first story in the book was so-so, general romance and life happenings. It wasn't too exciting but for a contemporary fiction I wasn't displeased either. However, the second story in the book was much better. The antics between Cody, Sherry, and Heather was hilarious. Heather is Cody's daughter and also his matchmaker who had a 4H project to complete and decided her project was going to be getting her dad married. Enter Sherry, the only female doctor in town and Cody's biggest nemesis and love lol. Cody was so adamant about "cutting to the chase" and not worrying about "romance and all that stuff" which left his proposal to Sherry seriously lacking. Sherry, without realizing it, fell in love with Cody and wanted romance from him, but this romance she wanted was him to open up and show he cared for her. Cody instead almost got himself arrested for serenading Sherry (while drunk and playing the guitar badly, which was utterly hilarious) and swollen with hives for digging for flowers in poison ivy. Their relationship was so up and down, one minute they love each other and the next they despise each other, mainly because of Cody's big mouth. So it wasn't the best proposal of hey do you wanna get married because my kid needs a mom, and Sherry's answer of "yes i'll marry you, you idiot" wasn't the best but had me cracking up. I almost didn't want the story to end because their antics had me rolling. All in all though it was a good book, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Fun easy reads! Two stories with sappy sweet romance. Both have daughters that want their single parents to marry. I liked the first story better although both had a TON of irritations with the characters being hard headed over dumb things.
Love these stories! Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors! Stories of love, loss, and finding new love. And of course this one also has daughters wanting their parents to marry. Just sweet and great stories that are fun to read!
Both romance stories were really sweet. Some of the resistance between the love interests got a bit corny at times. But it was understandable considering their past heartbreaks.
Had to have a fix of Macomber. I did not realize it was from 2005. Pretty predictable but I liked, of course. There was also a bonus story by another author.
Worst book I've read in awhile but it was free and I needed something to read in the airport. This was written in 2001 and had so many comments about female body expectations and body dysphoria. I really felt triggered but I guess it was a 'love story' idk but it shows how much writing has changed through time.
This was my first book by Debbie Macomber. She is a very popular author in the library. I'll admit that I have really enjoyed the corny Mrs. Myracle movies based on her books so I thought I'd give this 25 cent booksale book a try.
The book has two stories/novellas. I really enjoyed the first story. It involved a divorced father and a divorced mother whose daughters schemed to get them together. Very funny, although predictable. The second story had characters that didn't appeal to me as much so I didn't like that one as much. The second story seemed to be linked to a Texas series that Macomber has written, whereas the first was a stand-alone.
A two for one book. 1st story: Yours and Mine is about a single mother, Joanna Parsons and her eleven year old daughter, Kristen. Kristen is a very manipulating kid, and with her girl friend they set out to get their parents together. 2nd story: Lone Star Lovin' is about Cody Bailman and his daughter, Heather. Who is determined to teach him about romance and fixing him up with the new nurse Sherry Waterman.
I found the 1st story to be irritating. Kristen was way over the top with her manipulating. The 2nd story was a more enjoyable read.
Stuck on a trip at cabin on lake and finished books I hnd brought. This was the only thing there. Horrors. So predictable and hokey, but what would one expect from a Harlequin? Would that life is like this.
2 stories in one book. Enjoyed both tremendously. Could totally relate to what daughters think, do, say. Very cute characters in both books. A feel good book.
I enjoyed these 2 stories. It was nice to be reminded of the Orchard Valley stories. Kids can be a challenge and these stories just show how the can be when they get something in their minds.
