Bomar Boys #1

No Regrets

Rate this book
Every small town has that one family that’s more savage than civilized. The ones that are more myth and legend than man. In Old Settlers, Oklahoma that’s the Bomar boys. Wild, reckless and vicious, they skirt the line of criminal and trip over it more often than not. They are their own punchline: white trash but proud beyond compare. Dirty and dangerously sexy, it’s best to steer clear of them or else risk your life… and your heart. These are their stories.

Jemma Buxton was running scared. She’s running home. But she had no idea she was running straight into his arms.

Fleeing an abusive relationship, she left everything behind. Her life. Her hopes. Her dreams. But not her heart. She wants to move on, start over and love again, but can she trust the first boy she ever loved with her bruised heart when he’s already broken it once?

Cash Bomar never thought he would see her again. Never thought she would come back to their tiny, backwoods town. Not after he cruelly and purposefully broke her heart and all but sent her away five years ago.

Seeing her again is the surprise of a lifetime and the fact that she needs his help is the second chance he never expected to make things right. All his life he’s been told he was nothing but bad, worthless and white trash, but she makes him want to be better. Can he convince the only girl he’s ever let close, ever loved, that she was always meant to be his?

They both have pasts they wish they could change. A history together they’ll have to overcome. Can they build a future together without a lifetime of regrets?

*No Regrets is the first book in the Bomar Boys series but can be read as a stand-alone. Each book features one couple and a HEA but will build on each other so they are best read in order.

**Warning** - This book contains explicit language, sexual scenes and violence. Though not depicted, mentions of domestic violence are key to the story and can be a trigger for some.

** 3.5 this seems familiar stars **

This turned out to be a pretty good read for me.  I will say the similarities to The Gentry Boys series were staggering.  If you read that, this was very close.

I initially had some issues with the fact that Cash was with others during the separation.  I hate that.  However,  he thought he'd never see her again and it was 5 years.  That being said, his inner thoughts and a statement from his twin brother, both set my mind at ease that he was NOT a manwhore.  I despise when a guy pushes a heroine away, then sleeps with anything with two legs to "ease the pain" - YUCK.

Jemma was heartbroken when she left their hometown.   The man she loved for so long crushed her, leaving her a changed person.   She fled, never coming back to visit.  She ended up engaged to an abusive jerk who brutalized her.  When things started escalating further, she retaliated and took off, back home.  The first person she sees when she gets back is the one person she thought she'd never lay eyes on.  I appreciated that the author didn't have her pushing him away the whole story.  Jemma never stopped loving Cash and they set off to mend what was broken.

-a hero who tried to always put the heroine first, even when he broke them both. His constantly feeling he wasn't good enough got kinda old after a while though.
-a great heroine who was very forgiving
-no ow drama whatsoever - Cash was never with another woman after Jemma came back
-slight om drama
-pushing away by hero years prior.  At present he kept thinking he wasn't good enough but didn't push her away like he had before
-NO EPILOGUE - I don't care if it's a series, an epilogue is a must. The ending left me unsatisfied.

**I'm not sure about book 2 yet.  Colt was an awesome brother in this story.   However, he was a player.  His heroine has seen women coming in and out of his apartment on a regular basis.  She has a boyfriend (that was only mentioned, never seen) yet they both are clearly attracted to each other and they fight it

Goodness these bad boy Bomars!

Cash Bomar pushed Jemma Buxton away years ago by breaking her heart. He thought he was doing the right thing by treating her so cruelly to get her away from him and his inevitably bad future. He wanted her to be able to make a life for herself outside of their small town and away from the tainted Bomar blood line.

Jemma is back in town much to her dismay. She didn't want to be back where Cash broke her heart, but she had no where else to go. Ending up in the wrong relationship with an awful man who hurt her worse than anyone else was what brought her back home. Back to Cash and the rest of the town she left behind five years ago.

Cash sees how broken Jemma is and all the bad things that have happened to her and obviously it breaks his heart. He half blames himself. It's an up and down ride watching Cash and Jemma work through their past issues, and watching their undeniable connection move them along. It's also intriguing to see Jemma's journey after getting out of an abusive relationship. Seeing her become stronger with the help of her friends.

This was a great read! Very in depth with each of the main MC's and even the side characters had a bit of story built up. Skylar and Cash's twin brother Colt. I'm even a smidge interested in Remy and what he may be hiding! Everything isn't hunky dory in this story. There is a bit of violence and some situations that could be considered triggers for some people. It's a well written read though, so I definitely recommend it and can't what to see what comes next with this family.

Drama

Pretty good story. The first in a series about bad boys with an even worse family. There was a lot off drama, but I liked it well enough.

These Bomar boys got it going on. They have tempers, but they know how to treat a lady. Me likey. I really liked Cash. He was trying to rise above his family name and be nothing like his deadbeat abusive father. He made a huge mistake letting Jemma go before, but he was not letting her go again. Jemma was escaping a really bad situation and came home. Although she made some not so smart decisions in allowing that situation to go on longer than it should have, I'm happy she found the strength to leave and try to make a better life for herself. And her life just had to include her first love, Cash. They were adorable together. They were trying to be open and honest this time around and their conversations were beautiful... you know, after the hot sex. Lol. I hated what Jemma did towards the end, knowing the effect it would have on their relationship, but hey I got my HEA, so... I'm so interested in seeing where Colt and Skylar go in the next book.
I also think this book was a really good representation of how abuse goes on from generation to generation. The parents abuse one another or drugs and the kids get the blame for being 'those bad kids with the trashy parents' and then they become their parents, if no one cares enough to help them.

I loved this every word of this story, my heart involved from word one.

It's certainly no "rainbows, fluffy kittens & butterflies" romance read, with both our hero & heroine working through some fairly major issues, but the raw beauty of their story is just breathtaking.

You can't help but root for them to rise above it all and finally get their very much deserved HEA. Their chemistry & passion is scorching, and boy do those Bomar Boys cause some thigh clenches & twitches. Phew!

Even though the story is sad at times, there's such hope & strength of spirit in the human capacity to endure & survive.

What also struck me about this book, despite the obstacles & challenges they face - things most of us will never experience, was the complete & undeniable love, and I don't just mean between the two leads, but between the brothers. Cash & Colt are something special.

Mind you, I'm dying to learn Remy's secrets & given the drop dead sexiness of the "Auto Bomars" & the "Bible Bomars" I'll happily spend much more time in Old Settlers.

Be starting book 2, No Apologies, as soon as possible - Colt & Skylar already have me hooked.

I don't even know what to say other than this story was ugly and beautiful and wonderful and I loved every minute of it. Jess Bryant is a fantastic writer. I highly recommend this book. Cash and Colt Bomar are my new book boyfriends. I am very much looking forward to Book #2!!!

Trigger warning: domestic violence/abuse is a theme (there are flashbacks, not live scenes), but a necessary one as it has clearly has shaped the characters into who they are today. This book felt like real life: dirty and gritty but full of love and hope. Motherfuckin' rainbows.

This is my first book by this author, and I was intranced, from beginning to end. Cash and colt are two very sexy twin bad boys. Although twins they are both different. Cash has soft side and colt. Doesn't hold anything back. When cash broke Jemma heart. I cried because I could tell they both hurting. But you truly love someone and you want the best for them you let them go. If they come back you never let them leave again!

Review:
“He broke the kiss to twist them around, laying her down on his bed so he could loom over her. He took a precious minute to suck in much needed air and stared down at her. She was gorgeous, curvier than she’d been the last time he had her naked. He’d seduced a girl that first time. This time, he had a woman beneath him, his woman.”

4 take care of me stars!! Emotional but so well stated and told!

Jemma is on the run, fleeing from her abusive relationship. She’s on her way back home to Oklahoma. Now back home trying to start over and forgetting her past, she’s haunted by her old relationship with the first boy she ever loved. Cash never thought he’d see Jemma again after he took her heart and shattered it into a million pieces. But she needs his help, and he’s ready to prove to her and everyone else he’s not the piece of trash that he’s made out to be. But is Jemma ready to give her heart over to him again?? Not to mention the dark pasts that they both have that start creeping back into their lives.

What an emotional journey this book took me on!! I was on the edge or tears half the time and my heart breaks for Jemma and what she goes through. And poor Cash having to overcome the stigma of being made out to be trash. Their stories broke my heart. The book was well written and I loved it!! Great start to the series!

There were absolutely No Regrets in reading this book. In actual fact, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to read the first book in the Bomar Boys Series. A second chance romance that is heart wrenching, intense and will at times tear at your soul. Cash and Jemma’s story had me crying for all they had suffered and the time that they had lost. However for every tear that fell, their story gave me hope and in turn filled my heart with light, passion and a forever kind of love. We all know love hurts and sometimes we bring that on ourselves to protect the ones that own our heart and soul. A passionate and moving story that will be one of those that you hold onto long after you have closed the book.

my first book by this author and really enjoyed it. There were a few grammatical errors/typos, but the story was so good I overlooked them. I did find it was a bit boring how Cash kept thinking he wasn't good enough. I get that they're from the wrong side of town and have a bad reputation, but it was overplayed a bit for me. loved the other characters, am totally digging Colt and Skylar's chemistry, can't wait for book#2. Remy looks interesting too!

5 Second Chances shouldn't be taken lightly Stars!!

This was my first time reading Ms.Bryant's work and I loved it!! No Regrets is second chance romance at its finest!! I've always believed that if life leads you back to something or this case someone you shouldn't take that lightly which in my opinion this story showed. It deals with serious and tough subjects that I don't see a lot in romances which made me happy because I felt as if the author gave a voice to those who've been through the same things. At times I became seriously angry for the sake of the characters to the point that I wanted to jump into the story to protect them. It was realistic, heartbreaking, sexy, hilarious, and sweet as honey!! Ms.Bryant really stole my heart with this beautiful book!! I look forward to reading more of her work as soon as possible!! :)

Jemma Buxton was a character that had hightailed it out of her hometown after her heart was shattered into a million of pieces by the boy she loved. Gathering up enough courage to rid herself of the brutal clutches of her abusive fiancé she returns home. Starting over and trying to forget the past was easier said than done especially when she runs into the man who was the reason behind her leaving years previously. I liked how strong she was and how she never wanted to show any signs of weakness. She had a heart of gold but she wasn't one to be messed up with. I loved her passion for making jewelry. Jem was driven and determined in everything she did. I adored her friendship with her best friend Skylar. I hoped in the end she'd feel safe and love again.

Cash Bomar was a character who worked as a mechanic. Memories of his past especially his childhood clung to his present just like an disease with no way to rid them from his mind. Pushing away the girl that brought him true happiness seemed like the right thing to do at the time. When she appears in his life again feistier than ever he knows it's no coincidence and he plans to fix his wrong doings. I hated what others said about him and how he tended to believe them. From the very beginning I clicked with him and I couldn't have been any happier! He did some things that frustrated me but he always had good intentions at heart. I liked how ruthless he could be when it came to those he cared about. I loved his friendship with his twin Colt! In the end I hoped he'd prove everyone wrong and get his love back.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for read that will tug on your heart strings and have you laughing until your stomach hurts. It's shows how cruel the world or rather yet people can be but even though It's deep it has plently enough lighthearted moments that even everything out. You'll smile, you'll cry, you'll blush, you'll want to majorly punch some characters, and most importantly you'll discover the true meaning behind the phrase "If you love something let it go if it comes back it was meant to be." I can't wait until October when Colt's book No Apologies comes out!! I seriously love him with all my heart!! Dear lord I wish those Bomar Boys were real *sigh*. If you haven't already One-Clicked Buy it today!! You won't regret it!! 5 Stars all around!! :)

When I read the description of No Regrets I knew that this would be a story that I would enjoy ad I was right. No Regrets introduces readers to the world of Old Settlers, where the Bomar family name is met with disgust and gossip. Two of the members of the Bomar family are the main target for the towns gossip. The town look at the twins Colt and Cash with repulse and gossip about them behind their backs. This saw the twins not getting close to anyone and saw Cash making one of his biggest regrets, pushing away the woman he loved Jemma. No regrets sees Cash and Jemma given a second chance at a relationship and I loved the way the author was able to transport me to this dark town to tell the story of this family. This was an emotional journey for the two characters but I loved every second of it.

The main character Jemma was fleeing to her hometown of Old Settlers and she immediately runs into the man who broke her heart when she was younger. The relationship between Jemma and Cash told me a lot about the character because it showed that she was different from the other people that lived in her hometown. She was a caring person that didn’t judge Cash or Colt by their last name like everyone else. She saw them as more then just their last name and their family. Jemma was a strong character that new what she wanted in life and was working to achieve these things. I really enjoyed the main character Jemma.

Cash Bomar was seen as many things in his town of Old Settlers, but he was much more then what people thought of him. He was a guy who has suffered at the hands of his father as a child and was neglected by his mother. But that didn’t define who he was as a person because he still cared for the people that he loved. I loved Cash from the minute I started reading about him and felt for him when he believed what the people in town said about him. Cash was sexy, strong, stubborn and caring character that I instantly loved.

No regrets is about Jemma running back home after leaving an abusive relationship and going back to her hometown Old Settlers. Old Settlers is the home of the Bomar family that has a reputation for being no good criminals. Cash Bomar is the ex of Jemma and different to the rest of his family. When these two reunite will Jemma give Cash a second chance after breaking her heart before.

Overall, I loved this story because it kept me interested in it from the start to finish. I was invested in all the characters and wanted to find out what would happened to them. I enjoyed the relationship that Cash had with his twin Colt and found the connection they had with each other to be very special. I also adored the relationship between Jemma and her best friend Skylah, it showed how much they loved each other and valued thei friendship with each other. I really enjoyed this story and the way that it showed how cruel that some people can be and how people can still get through the hard times that occur in life. This is definitely a series that I know I will enjoy and cant ait to find out more about these Bomar boys.

No Regrets is my first book by the author and it hooked me quick. I'm definitely going to be impatiently awaiting book two in this series as well as checking out her back list to see just what I've been missing!

-Every small town has that one family that’s more savage than civilized.

Didn't need to go any further in the blurb to get me to read this one, that first paragraph was enough!
No Regrets is Cash Bomar & Jemma Buxton's story.
Her first love, her first everything. He was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks and she was made for better things than a man from a no good family. He broke her heart, well maybe that's too simple, more like chewed it up and spit it back out at her.
Five years ago a heartbroken Jemma left him and their tiny town in the dust looking for that "better". Now she's back. Running to the only place she knows from an abusive relationship, the first person she runs into is Cash. Not exactly what she expected, she wanted to come home and hideout and heal, thought she'd have some time before she faced anyone but she was wrong.

The last person Cash expected to see back in their tiny town is the one woman he ever loved.
When he sees her face he knows what happened to her and immediately wants to take protect and defend her. He knows he broke her heart five years ago, but his intentions were good. He had no idea that his actions led her down the exact same road he was afraid she'd experience if she stayed with him.

Now as they begin to get to know each other again secrets come to light that change both of their perceptions of each other. Someone's heart is going to break again but will it be Gemma's or Cash's?

So this one reeled me in with the blurb but had me hooked by the end of the second chapter. These Bomar boys will steal your heart with their protective nature. I'm dying to get my hands on Colt's story and Remy's, I'm sure Remy's is going to be quite interesting!

I liked it but didn't love it. I liked the second chance aspect. This whole idea that a persons whole life is planned it all because of their name and family is intriguing to me. It reminds me of the mafia and books where your in all because of your last name. Anyway I liked the family aspect. These brothers who are trying anything and everything to over come the past cycle of abuse and pain but who think they don't deserve a HEA. I also loved that it touches on abuse. Something so many suffer in silence in. It showed that you can be stronger and you can fight back. You don't just have to lay back and take it. That being said. I just couldn't connect to the couple. While they had so much passion on the page. It didn't flow out to me. But the story itself was enjoyable

Fall in love with a Bomar boy â¤ï¸

"Her. She was the one thing he allowed himself to regret. The only thing he wished he could take back in his godawful life."

In No Regrets - the first in the Bomar boys series - Jess Bryant weaves a beautiful tale of second chance love that tugs at the heartstrings and will make you have all the feels â¤ï¸

Jemma is returning home after 5 years away. She's escaping an abusive relationship (one where she was both verbally and physically assaulted), coming to the realisation that she's better than the scum that was her fiancé. And on the way home Jemma comes across Cash - her first love, the breaker of her heart, the reason she left in the first place. But Cash has demons of his own. A Bomar by name, Cash's family has the reputation of being the bad blood in town. Cash hasn't had the best lot in life - with a deadbeat dad, an addict mother, an older brother who escaped to the army as soon as he had the chance and his twin brother Colt, who wears his emotions on his sleeve and isn't afraid to own the Bomar name and all the negativity that comes with it. Cash is trying to rise above the Bomar reputation but it's not easy being the "good boy" in a bad family.

"She didn’t hate Cash. She never had. She’d felt a lot of things for him but hate had never been one of them. Love. Anger. Lust. Pain. Longing. Confusion. But never hate."

Jess' storytelling is absolutely beautiful. She tells Jemma's abusive backstory with respect and authenticity which made me feel so much anger and hurt for Jemma and her situation. But for me, the real emotion came from Cash and his demons, his feelings that he wasn't good enough for Jemma. I just wanted to hug Cash so many times in the book. And it's Jess who writes the characters so damn real you want to comfort them.

One of my favourite parts of the book was Jemma and Cash's realisation that they fit together like two puzzle pieces. The beauty in that wasn't lost on me and it really struck me as such a heartfelt way to describe their connection and chemistry.

"The first time he’d kissed her, she remembered thinking that was it. She was done. She’d found her other half. They fit together like two pieces of the same puzzle, despite all of their differences they were same." (Jemma)

"Like two pieces of a puzzle sliding into place, magnets drawn together, destined to smack into one another again and again with enough force to break them apart if they weren’t careful." (Cash)

I'm now very much looking forward to reading about the other two Bomar brothers - Colt and Remy. Jess has created a fascinating family that you can't help but want to get to know more of.

The Bomar boys: bad through and through or so their reputation goes. Cash has spent his life being a punch bag for his good for nothing dad, alongside his twin brother Colt. His is always trying to shake the Bomar reputation and is trying to do things the right way.

Jemma is the one that got away but now she's back after escaping from an abusive relationship. Cash still has a dark side to him as the anger bubbles beneath the surface. Will she give him another chance or will he scare her away with his darkness?

Cash has very much a sweet side to him that Jemma brings out of him. But this has always been there as he has always put his brother first. There was certainly less bad boy about Cash than I was expecting but this is actually remarkable considering his childhood and the influences around him. Whilst Jemma has been through a traumatic time that doesn't quite go away, the focus remains more on Cash and his struggles.

It was still a really good engaging read that had me wanting more from the Bomar boys.

When I read the synopsis I knew this book was gonna be good but damn it was better then I expected!
I am always wary when 2 characters have a past but dang these guys just fit together like perfect pieces of a puzzle.
The more I read the more they exposed themselves to each other and us as readers.
I also love that even though Jem had been through a lot she didn’t need a knight in shining armor she needed a friend!
She was strong and resilient and in the end I loved her more then at the beginning of the book.
We all have our own Bomar boys but dang Cash is one hot piece of maleness (yup made that up myself).
He was great from the start and I loved how he protected Jen but didn’t smother her.
I need Colt and Skylar’s story and the deal with Remy so give me more Bomars lol

The Bomar boys will steal your heart!

Chase and Jemma have been separated for a long time, but they never stopped loving each other. Even when Chase said horrible, ugly things to her he had convinced himself that he was doing what Jemma needed.

When they run into each other again 5 years later Jemma definitely doesn't trust Chase. After all he broke her heart, proving he was just like the rest of the Bomar clan - mean to the bone. But when Chase realizes Jemma needs help he's determined never to walk away from her again.

A beautiful story of healing, and redemption, Chase is going to prove to Jemma once and for all he's nothing like his father. Worth way more than 5 stars, I love Jess Bryant's writing, the nuance and beauty she gives the small towns and families she's writing abouta

When Jemma left her hometown of Old Settlers, Oklahoma with a broken heart she never thought she'd be back. But running from a violent fiance with nowhere else to go; she returns home and runs into the last person she wanted to see. Cash and his twin brother Colt have had a hard life; growing up Cash found happiness with Jemma but in order to give her the life he felt she deserved he pushes her away. So when he expectantly runs into Jemma and finds out she's in trouble; he knows he won't be able to let her go a second time. These two were 🔥 together in this action packed second chance romance; I seriously could not get enough! Now if you'll excuse me I've got book two to dive into..💋

A new to me author, and I grabbed this because it was a second chance.

Jemma's life is in no way going the way she expected it to. It appears that she has struck out in love twice, she's returning to her small town with pretty much just the clothes on her back and now her car has died outside of town. Really, could it get any worse? Yes, yes it could - when she sees the tow truck driver.

I loved that Cash was a protector, even to those that didn't deserve it. I was pleasantly surprised with the luncheon with mom and enjoyed that Jemma and Cash reconnecting. I wish there had been a bit of an epilogue, but maybe we'll get a bit of an update in the next book.

I love the Bomar twins!

Hot tatted twins? Yes please....Sign me up for that! Ha! Ok so this book was great. You got two alpha twins (you can read more about Colt's story I believe in book 2) but, Cash & Jemma's story was good. Some parts I felt like they dragged. Like let's get to the point already. But in all the plot, characters etc were spot on! A must read for all alpha lovers.

No Regrets

This is my first book by Jess Bryant and definitely won't be my last. Wow!! The feels straight from the beginning had me from the first chapter. Cash and Jenna were supposed to be the couple that made it. But his past came and he had to protect her. Years later Jenna need someone to help her in her time of need. The connection between them was explosive and all consuming! I absolutely loved it.

Great start to a series

I love a book with complicated characters and a great storyline to go with them. Chase is one of those characters who had it rough and was prejudged by everyone, except Jemma. Jemma was it for him and vice verse but misunderstandings and the past got in their way. A chance for new beginnings but will the last become their biggest obstacle? Looking forward to more in this series.

A deeply emotional, powerful read that will pull you in and keep you hostage until the very last word. Jess Bryant is one of those authors that makes you feel every single pain and happiness that comes with her characters.

No Regrets is no different and I can say with certainty I have no regrets from reading it. You will love Cash and Jemma ❤️ The Bomar Boys are loud, proud, and about the sweetest boys you’ll come across. Once you get past that Bomar name, that is. 😉

Oh man. The depth of character and story here is just insane. There are ups and downs, struggles and triumphs and pain and redemption. Also, lots of sweet and hot romance between Jemma and Cash and when they get their ending, you are as thrilled as they are because you know they earned it. Well done, Ms. Bryant!

Meant to Be Together

I really enjoyed No Regrets by Jess Bryant. I’m a sucker for “meant to be together” storylines so this was right up my alley. Her characters are realistic and likable, so I was really pulling for them! The secondary characters are also great so by the end of the book, I was definitely craving the next story in the series.
