Landon knows who he wants, he’s been dreaming about Adam Taggart his whole life. Tag, though? Thinks Landon’s too poor, too young, too wrong to be his.

Landon Gaudet may not be the best bullrider on earth, but he knows that's where the money is in rodeo. His Cajun heart is more involved with horses, though, and with finding the cowboy he's been dreaming of all of his relatively short life. Adam Taggart has been around the block more than once, and while he thinks Landon is special, he also thinks the kid deserves better than a safety man with more than his share of notches on the bedpost.

Adam does everything he can to resist Landon, but there's not a man alive who doesn't love being loved, so eventually he gives in. Landon can't believe that Adam is finally with him, that his cowboy has finally come around to his way of thinking. The only problem is that Adam isn't sure he deserves love, or that he really has any to give. He questions everything from his need for Landon to his family’s assertion that he can do better than a boy from the bayou. Can Landon show Adam that sometimes magic is real, and that all you really need is to have a little faith?

I had my problems with Cajun way of speaking but with my very rudimentary knowledge of French, pronouncing aloud the expressions to deduce for phonetics what I didn't understand in written form and a lot of online search I carried it out.

I liked Landon from the start; I found Adam slightly thick and the plot seemed a bit "damsel in distress" to me until Chapter 10, when the real conflict becomes clear and when for the first time I had a moment of empathy with Adam.

When I talk about the real conflict I don't refer to the age-gap issue that winds up as a side issue in spite of the relevance that it's given in the beginning; For that matter, the reader doesn't know which said age difference is since there is not a single reference to Adam's age and Landon's 26 years old are deducted from something that Beau says.

The most interesting IMO is the main dilemma, it is not so much a classic opposites attract yet a matter of idiosyncrasies, an enormous difference concerning formal education and the outside eye,; as such it isn't something to be solved, rather its key is acceptance and proactive will to form a relationship that works.

Good cast, good moments with active participation of another characters in the series, a hint of who knows what about Bri, the bad tempered triplet -one could expect a story, but who knows when, considering that the reprint plans with a new publisher insinuate nothing about that-, and... gators!

This newest book in the Roughstock world of cowboys, bull riders, rodeo clowns, and the ranches that provide the horses and bulls needed for any rodeo event, was as much fun to read as the other volumes of this loosely connected series. With both Cajuns and Texan characters who have become like friends to me over the five years of the series' existence, it was like coming home when some of them reappeared in this book. It can be read as a stand-alone, but so many of the men who play a major or minor role in Landon and Adam's story have very detailed pasts, and you might want to go on and read up on them after finishing this book.

Landon, the Cajun of this book, is a wonderful character. He is a very giving man, always ready to help, loyal to his friends, and a fighter who has survived on his own while also protecting his twin sister since they lost their parents to an accident when they were twelve. He may ride bulls for the money, which he desperately needs since he has no school education, but his heart is with horses. He is a true horse whisperer and uses his talent to help where he can. His deep belief in God and his sister's ability to do good, what appears as magic to some people is just part of who he is. He has dreamed about Adam for years, in many visions, and the man's reluctance to make a commitment to Landon hurts him deeply.

Adam is from Texas, is a bit of a playboy, well educated, one of a triplet of brothers who are very close, and he has always had money. The whole situation with Landon has him rattled: first he thinks the guy is too young for him, then he believes Landon can do better than Adam, and all kind of other nonsense runs around in his brain until he realizes what’s what. The question is whether Landon, who has been deeply wounded by Adam not supporting him, will be able to forgive him.

If you like cowboys and rodeos, if you enjoy reading about two men who seem to be too different to ever have a chance, yet are made for each other, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with lots and lots of hot action between the sheets, then you will probably like this novella.

Coke and Dillon are visiting Beau and Sam's farm, where Landon is helping, healing animals and seeing old friends.
Smaller, younger Landon is a Cajun, black hair,

has a twin sister, horse whisperer, is bold and loves life. He's not so good at bull riding, but that's where the money is. He supports his homestead and his gifted sister, Laurel. She's a healer, a real Cajun hoodoo magical witchy woman.
Adam is one of the Taggert triplets, older,

a rodeo safety man, tall, tattooed and stubborn. He and his brothers, Brian and Chris have a fancy horse ranch.

At a small rodeo, blind Jason is practicing bull riding with his friends help, to get him ready to get his third championship, so he can retire.
Adam finally succumbs to Landon's advances, and Landon is walking on air. The men fit, have super hot sex and good vibes.
Landon and his sis totally believe in the hoodoo magic and that God is helping them.

The two men become close, a couple and they're happy. When the guys visit Adam's ranch, one of Adam's brothers insult the hard working, helpful cowboy, Landon, and Adam drops the ball by not defending his man. Landon gives Brian a piece of his mind and leaves. He's got an alligator to catch and a pig to roast, and has friends aplenty.
helping Jason...

Things are continuing on, helping Jason, and more, and Adam seeks advice because he needs to apologize, and make things right.

I loved the terrific characters, the story holds our attention, and we get our HEA., but there is still more happening to prepare Jason for the bigger rodeos, plus Brian needs to sort out his attitude.
I enjoy the Cajun accent that Landon expresses.

Still, each story can stand alone, but it's got continuing characters, and we want to see Jason succeed.
ENJOY !

This newest book in the Roughstock world of cowboys, bull riders, rodeo clowns, and the ranches that provide the horses and bulls needed for any rodeo event, was as much fun to read as the previous volumes of this loosely connected series. There is heartache, some angst, and a lot of determination on Landon’s part to get Adam to see him as a lover rather than as a “kid”. The story is told in BA Tortuga’s hallmark cowboy language with quite a bit of Cajun-French thrown in, and I adore that. It makes for such a different read to be able to practically hear the drawl and the twang! Reading this newest novel in the series was much like coming home when some of the characters from previous books reappeared here. It can be read as a stand-alone, but so many of the men who play a major or minor role in Landon and Adam's story have very detailed pasts, and you might want to go on and read up on them after finishing this book.

But Adam is determined and nothing much can resist a Taggart brother who has made up his mind.

This is book five in the series - so the characters are all well established, and we can just smoothly slide back into this family of rodeo cowboys, bullriders et al. If you have not read any before, then I would recommend that you start at the beginning, but I think you could probably enjoy it and then move backwards if you wanted.

This is, I think, my favourite so far. It is a little less dramatic than some of the others, dealing more with the pain that can be caused by words and acts rather than large vicious bulls. There is a fair amount of cajun dialect in it, but it still read smoothly and easily (something which is important to me as I read fast!). It was great to catch up with the progress of old friends from previous stories, and also to have some foreshadowing of who is next in line! There is something very satisfying when a book series reaches the point that you don't worry about not being able to pick up what happened before, because they have become part of your book family, and so remain familiar. Most certainly Ms Tortuga's Roughstock series has achieved that for me.

Now I need to know about the other two triplets and their woes and joys - so I do hope book 6 is in the pipeline!

So glad Adam got his story - and with a sexy little Cajun (although it took me awhile to wrap my brain around his accent - almost wish for an audio book on this one). And Jason is riding in the rodeos!

This is such a fun series and this book is noted on the author's website as the first book in Season Two so I hope there are a lot more to come! Lots of the stories intertwine and some stand alone. The vast majority are m/m with a couple m/f and a m/m/m thrown in. Like I've said in my other reviews - Good Cowboy Fun!!

I liked this book. If you don't like seeing a non-privileged dialect written out, you won't like this. A fair amount of it is in Landon's Cajun patois (is that the word for it?). I liked Landon. He was a sweetie. Adam Taggert had a bad incident of bowing to brotherly peer pressure, but eventually got over himself. I didn't like Adam as much as I liked Landon, but Adam was for the most part a decent guy.

Another great installment in the series

I love these books. I want to know what's coming up next and at the same time don't want the story to end. This installment had a lot less, physical pain than the earlier books but a little more angst. Happy to get to visit with everyone again. But what's up with Brian?

This was a fine, written story in Roughstock series. I liked Landon, his heart was golden and absolutely amazingly warm. I'm glad Adam found his happiness, and there wasn't a better person for Adam, than his "Cajun". London and Adam were really hot together, I liked them!

I loved this book. So much so, that I’ve already read it twice. While the book is still set firmly in the rodeo circuit, I really liked how Tortuga seemed to bring even more of Adam and Landon’s home lives into. Considering how different their upbringings were and that their professional paths don’t cross as frequently as the men featured in the previous installments, their story lends itself well to this particular angle. Not surprisingly, the author does a beautiful job of combining their time on the circuit with their home lives to create a romance that sucked me back into the Roughstock universe and that made me more reluctant to leave than usual.

In Back to Back, Adam Taggart finally finds love when it’s least expected, and where he finds it surprises him even more. A self-proclaimed player, Adam has no intention of settling down. But as the supply of eligible men his age seems to be dwindling, it’s becoming more difficult for him to find a willing bed partner to play with. That is, until a tiny, barefoot, horse whispering Cajun jumps in the saddle (literally) to save the day. When Adam finally gets over his hang-up about their age difference and gets him a taste of the spicy Cajun, he quickly develops an addiction for Landon that leads Adam to pursue the young man more fervently than he’s ever pursued anyone before. But even as Adam feels himself falling for Landon, Adam falters when differences in their beliefs and educational disparities have his brother, Brian, scoffing at the young man. The thing about addiction though, is that a man addicted can go without for only so long before he realizes where he went wrong (with the help of a few friends willing to deliver a verbal kick in the pants) and sets out to fix what he broke.

Watching Landon’s reaction to Adam’s faltering was heartbreaking, but you’ll probably be surprised to know that I also felt badly for Adam. Why? Because Adam suffers from the brainwashing of the educated, and I say this as someone who holds a master’s degree. We’re taught to value our education, told from an early age that without one, life will be even more difficult and the chance of success for the uneducated is miniscule – which results in an unintentional bias against those who aren’t educated. So even though Adam had gotten to know Landon, learned that his lack of a formal education did not mean that the young man wasn’t knowledgeable, he faltered in the face of Landon’s lack of education and Laurel’s hoodoo (something I do actually believe in). As for Landon, I loved how he interacted so easily with Sam. Even as we’ve seen Sam’s improvement over each installment since his injury in Blind Ride, his disorganized speech poses a problem for people that don’t spend a lot of time with him and even some who do. Yet Landon has practically no problem understanding what Sam is saying and I think that this makes it even easier for Sam to interact with Landon. It’s obvious that Landon has an easy going way about him, but watching him with Sam – who is his hero – just melted my heart. Which is what made watching Adam pull his head out of his rear and set things right with Landon and Laurel so enjoyable. While I know that Chrissy and Laurel’s story won’t be told in this part of the Roughstock universe, I really hope it’s out there – I just have to work up the courage to check out the other books, something I’ve avoided so as not to stumble upon any spoilers by accident while the series is being re-released. Until I do, I will await the next installment in the Roughstock series so I can catch up with all the guys and find out who’s up for love next.

This was quite a nice story, fun and funny along with some very hot man on man scenes that leave you all hot and bothered.

Adam is an “old man” (though I didn’t catch exactly how old he is) who’s had his fair share of men. He’s starting to feel irritated though lately, seeing as all his friends and former lovers are all one by one settling down. Just as he wishes a special someone for himself in comes Landon, a young Cajun who is simply irresistible. However Adam is a man that despite the confidence he shows all around deep inside he’s all insecure, second guessing everything and everyone. His mind is convinced that he’s lost his love when he lost Beau and that he’s too old for Landon, but his heart keeps fighting him, all the while he has his brothers’ opinions weighting on him saying a bayou baby is not good enough for him.

It is quite a journey this story. Between the wild sex the two men have, there are always things that come and make themselves present, mostly on Adam’s side, that hold this couple back. Landon might be pure magic, but contemporary men, educated at that have long ago stopped believing, and when times comes for Adam to stand by Landon’s side Adam has a weak moment where he lets all his doubts loose.

And it was at this point that I felt split in half. Up until now I loved every single moment of this read, the slow falling in love between the two guys, the hot lovemaking, the chemistry that was so strongly there, and then, BOOM, I feel like kicking Adam’s butt. I suppose between them two I fell for Landon the most. He’s quite a sweet character, so very talented, so sweet and good deep in his bone, and he doesn’t even know it. He has no idea what a catch he really is. Truth be told, I kind of agreed with Adam there for a sec, he was not worthy of Landon. I was quite the jerk and an idiot for letting his brother interfere with his love life as much as he did. And yeah I would have loved to see him work a bit harder to get on Landon’s good graces. The kid was such a doormat for him. But all well and I kind of like how it ended.

What I didn’t get though, and I pretty much wanted, was a bit Sister time. She was supposed to be a healer and I kept thinking the entire read that she’ll get to do something right? There were tons of injured people all around the place. But in the end that was left on faith as well and nothing was proved at all.

All in all though this was a really good read with lots of bullfighters, bullriders, ropers and plain old cowboys, spiced up with a little bit of Cajun charm and special loving. If you lean toward this genre I strongly recommend this read to you.

Adam Taggart has been the love ‘em and screw up type of guy throughout the Roughstock series. He’s been with more than a few of the guys who work the rodeo circuit, but those relationships never lasted. Now most of the guys have found their one-and-only, and Adam is still screwing around.

Landon Gaudet isn’t blind to Adam’s reputation. Landon is from New Orleans, and Cajun, and believes in more than just fate. He has always known Adam is his one-and-only, and has let the hoodoo run its course.

Adam is the eldest of Taggart triplets. The Taggart’s are pretty wealthy, and the Gaudet’s live a very different life style from them. Landon and his sister Laurel are twins, and she is the most important person in his life. He’ll do anything for his sister. As Landon puts it, she’s “pure hoodoo, witchy as all get out, but he’d never meet a better traiteur” (treater). Landon is a hard worker; there isn’t anything he won’t do, right down to dealing with gators.

Adam screws up once again. He doesn’t stand up to his brother, Brian, when he accuses Landon of being a liar. But payback is a bitch and comes in the shape of the Little Cajun, and he knocks Adam down a few pegs in front of all the guys. Just what is wrong with Brian? He’s been getting on everyone’s nerves, and his mother has had enough. Adam tries to get Brian to talk, but no luck with that.

But despite all the drama, the guys are still rallying together. Jason’s been doing some blind-riding in the small rodeo events, and winning. Andy and the guys all know sooner or later Jason’s got to take on the task and ride in a big rodeo event before anyone outside of their group becomes suspicious.

I’ve had my favorite cowboys throughout the Roughstock series: Dillon, Sam and now, Landon. BA Tortuga gives us another great storyline, with the setting mostly in New Orleans. It gives a nice feel to how Laurel and Landon live and to what their beliefs are and how they are different from the Taggarts. I can’t wait to find out what the next Roughstock story brings us. BA Tortuga always guarantees lots of rodeo action, drama, humor and a lot of cowboy loving.

4.5* Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.

I’m fairly certain I say this with every new book I read in this series but really, this series just keeps getting better! I’d been hoping that Adam Taggart would get a book of his own eventually and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. I think I remember seeing Landon as a cameo character at one point but I can’t tell you how pleased I was to officially make his acquaintance as well; both men were about as different as can be aside from a love of horses and some mutual friends but they just worked so beautifully together.

Adam is a bit of a slut; he totally admits it, but regardless of the number of bed partners he’s had, he’s a good man that believes in taking care with the men he’s with and his professional demeanor is much the same. When he meets Landon, he wants the other man but feels the Cajun is too young so he pushes him away ‘for his own good’. Not one to be deterred, Landon doesn’t give up and eventually gets his man; what follows is both passionate and damn near perfect…until Adam’s brother and his inability to stick up for his man loses him the one thing Adam didn’t know he couldn’t live without: Landon.

I love this series. Just, flat out Love It. Each story builds on the previous books while giving me new characters to meet and fall in love with. Landon may not have come from the best background, and he may not have a ton of money, but he was probably one of the hardest working guys in the series that I’ve come across. His refusal to apologize for his upbringing and his pride in his heritage was one of my favorite parts of the book…right up there with him telling Adam what for. Lol

If you enjoy cowboys or anything involving the rodeo, you have got to read this series; while the books do need to be read in order, they are all totally good and you won’t regret any one of them. I will admit to being curious about what was up with Bri during the book, and while I’m not sure when I’ll find that out, I totally plan on enjoying the other books along the way. :D

This is book 5 of the series it can stand alone but I think you would understand things better if you read in order since there are recurring characters in a subplot.
Adam Taggart is a sexy, safety man. He also is a one night stand sort of guy. He still laments let Beau out of his hands yet still doesn’t move on. When he meets the cute high-strung Cajun Landon he doesn’t know what to think when he offers himself up. Since he is so young he turns him down. Landon has dreamed all his life about his true one and when he saw the tattoo on Adam he knew he was his. The trouble is they ae different as night and day. Adam is filthy rich and Landon works at everything he can and also rodeo to support himself and his twin sister.
I loved the Taggart Triplets (or loved to dislike them) and was anxious for their stories. Adam is my favorite Taggart so I really was happy to see his story. Landon was a surprise choice for Adam for me and perfect. I simply adored Landon’s energy, honesty and work ethic. I loved how he wouldn’t give up on what he felt was truth.
I loved the plot with Adam and Landon’s romance it was, of course, steamy and sexy. I also liked seeing the recurring characters and the subplots.
Now though Landon was Cajun some of his dialogue was a bit distracting for me. I didn’t mind the French …that made his dialect good but the me and us at the end of sentences was a bit odd. My main issue was though the end was good it was very abrupt. I expected a bit more with Laurel and her healing or something. It just ended leaving me with questions. But I bet they will be answered in the next book. I can’t wait to see if it’s Brian.
If you like Cajun’s, hoodoo, rodeo cowboys, an allover good romance, and some really hot man-sex you should like this series.

I enjoyed this story much more than the last couple of books in the series. I’ve been curious about the Taggart boys for a while and I enjoyed getting to know more about all of them.

Adam is one of the more straightforward leading men in this series. He isn’t overcoming disability or disadvantage - he is just a slightly bull headed cowboy.

Landon is a more interesting character - someone describes him as a “Bayou baby” at one point and it works. Orphaned young, he has been taking care of himself and his twin for a very long time. While he is supposed to be the much younger man, his voice is old and experienced. However old Adam might be, he comes across as the man who is less secure and less confident in himself . His more affluent existence lends a naivety to his character that the world-wary Landon just can’t afford.

I enjoyed the connection between these two men, though I quickly grew tired of Adam’s doubts and insecurities. For me, there was more romance and passion between the leading men than there has been in the last couple of books which was great. I also enjoyed watching the relationships between the other couples in the series develop.

Tortuga’s overly dramatic Cajun accents are starting to grate with me. I think I need characters to think in Standard English, even if they speak with a dialect/accent/second language Especially in this book when the author is trying to prove that Landon is much more clever than he presents, I needed to better understand the differences between the way he speaks and the way he thinks.

With a great deal of help from his friends, Jason gets to ride bulls in some of the smaller rodeos. Adam Taggert and Landon meet and burn up the sheets. Until Adam won't support Landon's beliefs, Landon
is devastated and returns to the bayou.
