I don't think there are many readers out there who need a review to tell them how great this series (and Asami x Akihito for that matter) is. So, this review is for the publisher SuBLime's first English translation of the Finder series. That's what the 5 stars are for. The translation is so much better than anything you've read online and greatly improves on what was previously offered. The dialog is more modern, Akihito sounds a lot more what fans have "heard" in their heads. His dialog reflects his age, his street smarts and his attitude to get that scoop at any cost. The illustrations have been cleaned up and look gorgeous and the plot has been expanded on by Sensei and makes more sense. Of course she added extra sm*t for her beloved fans. I can't really cite examples on 1 read through, but Asami and Akihito's relationship seems more fleshed out and emotional. You get the feeling their relationship has progressed and that by this volume they BOTH want to be together. *Spoilers* Sensei has written extra into the ending of this arc that gives it a better resolution; only a few panels, but very satisfying. You get 2 extra side stories (very hot) and beautiful color pages of Asami and Akihito. I even enjoyed Sensei's comments at the end. I'm really looking forward to what SuBLime will do with the other volumes. Don't hesitate to purchase this edition and their future Finder volumes. And if you're new to this series get ready for the all-time hottest couple in Yaoi. I envy you becoming acquainted with this classic series with this fresh and finally realistic dialog. Bravo SuBLime...5 stars!!!
Poor Akihito. He’s still playing the damsel in distress role (he does look good tied up, though). As usual, hot but nasty guys take advantage of him, fondling his body, sniffing his hair and generally making their moves on him. He wonders why this keeps happening to him but it’s yaoi. If you’re a handsome or cute male, your milkshake is bringing all the boys to the yard.
We have three stories in this volume, unconnected to each other save as part of the ongoing relationship between Akihito and Asami. Asami still remains rather stoical in expression regarding his behavior towards Akihito. He doesn’t display either love or jealousy. But he does care about what happens to his consort—the last story is a sweet-and-saucy day in which Asami dresses Akihito in a bespoke suit, takes him to a fancy restaurant (with no other diners except themselves) and finally makes love to him in an expensive hotel room.
On the surface, Asami seems impatient with Akihito’s honest, open, child-like delight in luxurious accommodations, elegant dining and the novelty of a tub in the middle of a hotel living room. But the stern-faced businessman reveals an unexpected playful side to his nature. Is it possible we’re seeing a crack in Asami’s stony façade? If so, hurrah! It took eight volumes but it’s a welcome change.
V8 continues the Pray the Abyss arc, with Akihito infiltrating a brothel to try and find the missing hostess. But, things go south and he ends up being captured by Sudo – who has become obsessed with Asami and is completely unhinged. Kuroda and Asami come to the rescue, but the situation is far from resolved. Sudo’s buyers want the missing shipment and will do anything to get it – including a massive assault on Asami’s condo. There is a lot of exciting cat and mouse as Akihito and Asami hide from the mercenaries. Asami wants to protect Akihito, but they are vastly outnumbered and the odds are against them.
This volume hits the ground running and does not let up. Asami and Akihito have become much closer, but the danger has increased. Akihito has chosen: Asami is his and he will not give him up without a fight. The volume ends with two Finder stories: the first where Akihito accidentally ingests drugs and goes to Asami for “release.” The SuBlime deluxe edition bonus story is another cute interlude, where Asami has a custom suit made for Akihito and they go on a date. And end up naked in a hot tub together. A very sexy way to close the volume.
This was an awesome volume. Probably my favorite of the series so far. I know the creator prefers cutsey and smut filled volumes, but I love me some action packed scenes like this with guns and tensions! I also felt like it was well-balanced with the smut in this volume. I also really enjoyed Akihito FINALLY not being the damsel. That trope was getting so old and I think that was my issue with the series. I really would like to see Akihito standing up for himself and not allow himself to be manipulated or taken advantage. I mean, I enjoy those stuff to a certain extent, but in Akihito's case it's time to take charge!
Asami looked good in this one too!! In his little gun holster?? Oof.
It always throws me off when Akihito calls Asami his. I know that he's established his feelings multiple times in the last few volumes, but it just doesn't seem real. Also this poor guy goes through it every single volume. Everyone's so obsessed with Asami and Akihito's the one dealing with it.
Honestly crazy to think that I'm almost caught up. The big boys are definitely coming back in the next volume since Mikhail's already made an appearance at the end of this one. Excited to see Fei Long again.
I’ll be honest, I don’t really know what is happening right now…. Someone betrayed someone and now bad guys are shooting at the couple while a helicopter comes to their location.
Only thing that I am certain about is that mafia guy looked hot during the helicopter fight scene. Seriously, I have never found him attractive before, but the hair down and sweat pants with a bit of his abs showing was spicy.
I know enough spoilers about the later volumes to be able to say with certainty that this is the point where Yamane starts going unhinged, when it comes to raising the stakes. I love it.
Finder is a silly, entertaining series that went from a fetish one-shot, to the soap-opera insanity the volume 13 summary is describing. I am living for it.
Yamane is hilarious and has a good sense of humor about her own story.
I will need to reread this series once all the chapters and volumes are done. This waiting in between each chapter is driving me up the wall. The artwork is great, and of course the story has it's soft heartfelt parts that want to make you smile in delight. They make the whole thing worth it.
Asami and Akihito are attacked dim their condo and manage to escape in a helicopter.Sudo and Sakazaki have joined forces and we see the entrance of another player.
There are a couple of cute stories at the end with lovely smut.
Holy hot damn!! This was everything!! I mean I love a good kidnapping with dubious methods!! Also some hurt comfort cuddles and the disobeying to leave Asami warmed my soul. He doesn't think he is worthy of someone staying around for him! And we love this for him!! I love where this is going!!
This series is quite repetitive, but I cannot put it down, it is a guilty pleasure.
Akihito get kidnapped, again! This time by Shu, who is obsess with Asami, batshit crazy and jealous. The journalist realize his true feeling for the crime lord and doesn't want to share.
After some criminal deal go wrong, Asami get attack in this condo penthouse. The volume end in a cliffhanger and thankfully I have the other book in end so I can continue reading it.
Sarà necessario l'intervento dello stesso Asami a chiudere la questione o forse no...
This volume continues the Pray in the Abyss arc - Akihito continues to search for the missing Mayu Aoki and gets far more than he bargained for leading Asami to come to his rescue yet again. As the story progresses even their home isn't safe as villains infiltrate and they have to make use of the panic room.
We get two 'fluff' bonus stories - one where Akihito gets dosed with an aphrodisiac whilst on a story involving a drug dealer and the other where he gets a new suit from Asami. These do make a nice contrast to the darker more involved main story.
Love the art on this series and the characters - it does an excellent job of balancing exciting action with romance and sexy scenes.
Hurry up and release volume 9 damn it, don't leave us hanging!!! Though I hear it's not even out in Japan yet, so we'll be likely waiting a while.
