The Kingdom of Love, Commitment City, Celestial Mountains, Sea of Love, Sea of Knowledge, and the Isles of Bliss…these are only a few of the locales and destinations in the world that makes up the home of Prince Dignity and Princess Grace! This Young Adult novel, I will say was one of the most unique, rare and feel- good books I have read in a while!

Grace and Dignity was true to form a fairy tale telling, and was simply a pleasure for me to read and experienced the journey!

The story follows the soon to be married Prince Dignity and Princess Grace, who are well favored by their people and completely in love with one another. One the day of their intended nuptials and crowning as King and Queen; the wedding is interrupted by the news that the Prince has been killed! Distraught, the kingdom is in a turmoil. After a few days, and the Prince has not returned it is then accepted he is really gone, the people are given another devastating blow when they become aware that their beloved princess has basically died from a broken heart, according to the new rulers.

In steps the cousin of Prince Dignity, whose name is Prince Denial…he is to be the interim leader, but begins to make such changes that makes obvious that he is planning to remain ruler. The once beautiful land that was govern by the Golden Rules, morphed and changed and locales changed, as well as their meaning and names. Places such as Village of Self Doubt, Sea of Abandonment, Gossip Island, Desert of Rejection materializes, and the Land of Fear ruled by the new dictator appears to be established.

But soon events begin to change as it is discovered that the land’s beloved Princess Grace is alive! She with a faithful few begin a quest to find out if the Prince truly is dead, or whether there still remained hope for the land they loved!

I will say that as soon as I wrapped my brain around the fact this was a true fairy tale telling, I fell in love with Prince Dignity, Princess Grace, Doomesday Darrell “DQ” Quincy who ran the locale theater…also Miracle Milo, Wendy Whiner and all the inhabitants of this magical world!

Grace and Dignity had adventure, romance, and a feisty Princess who was no shrinking violet! She would not let anything or anyone stop her quest to find the truth! I enjoyed the chatter between DQ and Milo… over DQ’s name (DQ could be a little crusty at times! LOL). I even in ways found humor in Prince Denial the bad guy…although I do not advocate the overthrowing of a ruler ship and taking a land hostage… he was interesting to me and I even felt slightly bad for him, when his entire council would break out into the other national language of Pig Latin, which he never got the hang of and could not understand! (I feel his pain, I never could understand Pig Latin either!:)

But this truly fun, humorous book was a joy to read! It was extremely well written, creative and imaginative! I could see it as a interactive game of some sort…which of course if played I want to be Princess Grace!:)

Fun, Fun, Fun! Well plotted, paced and a true gem…this was my introduction to Ms. Grody’s work and I look forward to more by this very talented author!

If you hand me a book and tell me, “It’s a fairy tale twisted with a bit of mystery” I would snag it up and read it probably in one sitting. In the last year I’ve really enjoyed reading the different interpretations by authors with the fairy tale genre. All of the ones I have read are just perfect with the twisting. That is why I was excited to read Laura’s book.

I fell in love with Princess Grace right away. She has a sense of innocence about her that hasn’t been spoiled by life outside of her kingdom. She is exactly what you would expect her to be. I found it refreshing and wonderful that the love between her and Prince Dignity was developed well and treated with respect. Often times characters like theirs are more on the tortured soul side. I really enjoyed their story and adventures.

Laura took this tragedy that had occurred (or so they thought) and the missing prince and threw a spin that was perfect! I felt frustrated with Prince Denial for his stupidity and sad because I wasn’t ready to let Prince Dignity go. Obviously Princess Grace wasn’t either! With strength and bravery she fights to find out the truth of what has happened to not only the Prince but herself. What really happened while she was off somewhere during her blackout?

She is determined to figure it all out and to conquer evil with her goodness. She is feisty and a fighter. In all honesty, she’s much more of a warrior than some in the kingdom! She’s a Princess with heart but can cut you to the quick if you cross her. Especially with evil! I loved her character and her wit.

Prince Dignity has such pure love in his heart and he is ready to throw down and fight the good battle with Prince Denial and anyone who wishes to stand in his way. I felt kind of sorry for some of the characters during the more intense moments. Could you imagine being in the middle of those more intense moments? Prince Dignity has just that, a lot of dignity to go along with his bravery and understanding. He’s determined to get back to his beloved and help her to conquer evil in their kingdom.

I really thought it was clever that the characters names were a play on their description and/or personalities. It’s a creative way of adding intrigue to them quickly. I also loved the humor and wit that comes with some of the supporting characters. Well with them all really. Having humor in a book will always draw me in more than others. A really good book will have you going through so many emotions. This one did for me! I tend to read anything and as of late have read quite a few from the young adult genre. This is on my top five list of favorites.

I encourage you to pick this up, no matter what genre you read and enjoy it for what it is. A story of good vs evil, true love, bravery and respect. I loved it!

I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

In the Kingdom of Love everything is pretty much wonderful. On the eve of the coronation of Prince Dignity and Princess Grace that all changes. The prince is said to be murdered and the princess runs away and dies from from a broken heart. Prince Dignity's cousin Denial takes over the kingdom and many changes start to take place. the wonderful kingdom becomes broken and in horrible shape. However almost a year later Princess Grace returns with little memory of the past or anything else. She just know Prince Dignity is alive and she must find him before it is to late. As Grace hunts for her prince she finds many secrets that can help her out. She has to be careful as Prince Denial will do anything to keep the kingdom.

Prince Grace is a wonderfully sweet girl who has a unique gift. She is very special and the type of person everyone loves. She is what you want a princess to be. She also can be very tough and persistent as she hunts for the truth behind what happens. Prince Dignity like his name says is a great person and will be a wonderful leader. He doesn't lord over anyone and loves Grace very much. He will do anything to keep his kingdom safe.

It is very hard to describe this story. It is a very charming read and I really enjoyed the characters. The whole place the author has create is a very magical place. The names they have are very cute and some of the places I had to laugh at as they are very charming. There is magic in this book as well but I won't give any of that away.I will say it does play a big part in the story. This is a book I would let a teen read as well as it is a clean book. The romance is so sweet and you see these two will let nothing stand in the way of their love. The villain is someone you can hate but you also get to laugh at him along with everyone else at times. There is action as they hint for clues and try to save the kingdom from falling into deeper destruction. For a wonderfully sweet story that will charm you give this one a try.

What fun and magical book!! Grace and Dignity is about a young couple on the verge of starting their new lives when the unthinkable happens.
Along the way Princess Grace and Prince Dignity meet some very colorful characters Miracle Milo, Clueless George, Doomsday Darrell “DQ” Quincy and Opinion-Poll Patti, who become very important people in their lives.
From the Language Offenders to the Plastic Makes Perfect Factory there as so many interesting and inspirational characters and places. As you read each chapter title you can only imagine what will happen in that chapter.

This is truly a thoughtful story not just about these two young people in love but about all the characters and how they learn a little more about themselves and the things and places around them.
As you read this book you can even relate to whats happening in your own life. Highly thought provoking. At times you giggle a little and at times wonder to yourself “I do that”.
This story touches on so many emotions of a persons life. From the happiest of times to the lowest of despair. But in the end “what goes around comes around”.

Laura has a wonderful way of seeing things from a different perspective in this book. She even includes a Character List and a Glossary of Notables which is fun to refer back to as you read the story and learn a little more about the places and people. My 9 year old daughter is reading the book now but actually I read it to her when she was about 7. She loves the characters and talking about what they have done and what she would have done. This book has been such a treat to read with her and discuss the story as she read it on her own. Its always a special feeling to share the love of reading with your child.

This is a wonderful YA to young adult genre.

Laura Grody's Grace and Dignity is a unique, magical and witty fairytale-like story! Her writing is impeccable and everything in this book is unbelievably charming (I had that warm and fuzzy feeling during my reading duration)!

Princess Grace and Prince Dignity are an amazingly sweet, caring, etc. couple set to be wed. On the day of their wedding, something terrible happens - Grace is told her prince was murdered. After being told the news, she fled home, dying of a broken heart (or so I thought). Little did I know that it was a set up, and Grace and Dignity were still alive! They were spelled (Grace was abandoned/imprisoned and the Prince was physically changed into a character named Wretch) by Dignity's evil cousin Prince Denial (I hated this guy). He did this to them so he could take control of the kingdom! As the novel progresses, Grace gets her memory back, realizing her Prince was right in front of her the entire time (Wretch)! Prince Dignity returned to his "normal" self, and they vowed to claim their kingdom again. I really loved this twist, and I did not see it coming!

This novel is very sweet. The characters are all well-rounded, lighthearted and funny. Laura does an excellent job of describing the landscape and characters, thus allowing the reader to feel a part of the story. And the names!!!! Laura has an unique and fitting name for everything! A few examples: Cynical City, Plastic Makes Perfect Factory, Ego-Central Station and Addiction Canal... every landmark/proper name has a wordplay and I LOVE it!!!

This book was a very enjoyable and charming read. Laura's speed and tone were perfect, along with her plot and character development! Kudos to you Laura!

Grace and Dignity is marvelous story about Princess Grace and Prince Dignity. Before they are to be king and queen of The Kingdom of Love the most terrible thing occurs to the prince. Princess Grace is taken on a miraculous adventure with Miracle Milo, Clueless George, Doomsday Darrell Quincy (DQ)and Opinion-Poll Patti.Through out the story one learns that most things aren't what they seem. The mystery is one of the main components that devour the reader. The love and passion the princess has for her prince and the kingdom keep the reader adventuring with her.

I fell in love with the story of Prince dignity and Princess Grace. They way they show how much they love each other and how much they are willing to go through to be together gets a teenage girl to stop and wonder, when will a story like this one be in her grasp? There is scenes where one stops and thinks of how relate able the characters are to oneself, its amazing how Miss Laura made it possible for a person to connect with the book.

I love how there is references to look at while reading the book. There is a characters list, a glossary and so many other little notes that make the book so much better.

This book is not only about how love conquer all, but how the power of the "Golden Rule" and all that follows will over power all evil.
That you got to trust in you and everyone, for the world and everything around it to fall into place. I loved the word play... the names of people and places and how it just fits that person. It would be great if I was introduced as not just by my name but my true personality.
This is a love story, yes, but .... okay well we all know .. "if its ment to be it will be", but these characters in the story, not only learned and believed in True Love, "with a capital T and a capital L" they learned about one another, accepted their flaws, their insecurities, and got to know and love the person by their good qualities and not their bad. And in doing so they conquered the people who wanted to destroy the one thing that can not be destroyed.

This is a wonderful tale that teaches young people (of any age!) that Love really can prevail over evil and that treating those around us with respect earns us that respect in return.

Told in such a way that is completely understandable, even with the metaphysical elements of the story, the reader is drawn in to the story and joins the race around The Kingdom searching with the characters for the much needed solutions.

The characters are all well thought out and can be fully connected with as they help in the search to save themselves and The Kingdom. Well mapped, The Kingdom is a country that becomes more real as the story progresses and the reader becomes more involved with saving it all as the characters solve more of the puzzle.

I definitely recommend this to young people aged 9 to 900!

I won an e-copy of this in a competition on the Tome Tender blogsite and chose to review it

I just finished "Grace and Dignity". What a charming, fantastical story of love and accomplishment. On the surface, it is such a delightful fantasy, which lifted my spirits and caused me to chuckle at the entertaining images and dialogue. Underlying the whimsical, the spiritual symbolism invoked tenderness and optimism; I found my eyes tearing at the power contained in this simple story of "love conquers all". This book is definitely a "must read" for enjoyable entertainment and for increasing your own power of the mind!

I may be a little biased here, because I am friends a with the author and remember discussing a few of the things in this book, but I certainly enjoyed reading it to my daughter and know she will want to read it again and again!

WARNING: you may get a cavity after reading it because it is so sweet!

It's a fun, entertaining read, packed with love, mystery, puns, fantasy, and more. You must study every sentence as you read, because there is layer upon layer of skill built into each. It's one thing to juggle the elements of a fairy-tale love story; it's another thing all together to juggle a multiplex of cleverness.

Grace and Dignity is a book that is very different than anything I have ever read before. Laura has written a story that is perfect for middle school readers to adults. I loved the way she gets her point across that character counts. This book should be in every library.
