I realised almost on the first page that this isn't the first book in this series. I will read Catmagic at some point.

This book is for slightly older readers than the author's animal stories. The vocabulary is slightly expanded and the theme has a more mature feel.

I enjoyed this as a read while not feeling it hit as many emotions as the animal stories by the same author. A magical petshop is a great place to form a series of stories and I look forward to reading more of these.

This is a wonderful book if you love animals as much as I do! Imagine living in a pet shop where the animals can talk!

I chose the book because it came up in search for children's books and France. The cover looks like my family's former dog. It's the second book in the series and I didn't read the first book. It's sweet enough. I'm not going to read it to my class.

This was a cute story I enjoyed reading this story but it wasn't as good as catmagic. Similar plot and characters just was missing something that the first book had.

I am still excited to read the next book of this series.

The name is Dog Magic and the author is Holly Webb. The genre is Fantasy and the page count is # 134.

The main character is Lottie and she just moved to live with her uncle and cousin because her mom is on a business trip. She is now starting school and is trying on her school outfit which she has to wear everyday. The shop that her uncle owns is magical and has talking animals. Lottie is finding out if she has magical powers and who her familiar is. She has a small fury friend named Sofie that is a dog. Sofie can also talk and she lives with Lottie, her cousin and her uncle. Lottie was alone in the shop and a woman that did not look like a normal person walked into the shop and bought a hamster. That same hamster that she sold returned a few days later and her uncle explained to her that the animals that he sold could tell if the person they were being sold to was bad. If they were bad the animal will chew through the wires in the house and return as soon as possible. The hamster said that the lady was a very bad witch and she had very strong powers. Lottie the next day met a good witch that her uncle introduced to her. Lottie had many questions for her but the most important was to see if she had magical powers and if she did who her familiar is. The witch tried the hardest she could to look into lotties eyes but she would not let her in. That answered the question that she for surly had magical powers. The witch was not able to answer who her familiar was but she told her it was something to do with Sofie. Sofie was Lotties familiar and she found this out the day before school starts. Every time Lottie held Sofie she became more powerful. On the first day of school Lottie had a run in with the bullies of her grade. In the middle of class when the bullies were bulling Sofie appeared in Lottie and she urged her to try out their magic. Lottie thought about it and she decided to try to change the bullies hair color and all at once it turned bright green and snakes were all over her head squirming around. Sofie felt the power within her that day and she was able to help lottie that day in school. Lotties uncle is a very nice man an so is her cousin. They have had to stick up for her many times.

I would recommend this book to a lot of people and any one who has a passion for animals.

My favorite part was when Lottie made a good friend at school. The worst part was when Zara was mean to Lottie and one of Adriane's cats. My favorite characters were Lottie and Ruby. The worst character was Zara because she was a bully. The book was about summer ending and Lottie starting school. When she got there she met a bully named Zara and a friend named Ruby. Lottie showed the talking and magical animals to Ruby and became good friends. Lottie tried to use magic on Zara but started using bad magic instead of good magic. Lottie was about to have to go to live in Paris with her mom and she didn'twnt to go. Then she got to stay and she learned good magic. Then after that Adriane started to teach her cousin Danny how to do magic. Then finally she started to use her magic instead of learning for nothing. At the end Lottie got to stay at the pet shop forever. Auryn 10 years old.

On my quest to expand my knowledge of children's literature I picked this one up, not realizing that it was the second in a series. I wouldn't say that it is necessary to read the first one, but it would add a little more context.

The Grace Pet Shop isn't normal. Magic is rife, the creatures are unique and so are the owners! As Lottie learns that she is a witch and comes to terms with it, she also faces the trials and tribulations that regular girl would.

A cute read for those who love animals, magic and tales of growing up.

My five year old daughter loves these books. Even my three year old will sit and listen. they are not long and fairly easy to read out loud. There are no pictures but the story is so vivid that my daughter uses them as a springboard for all kinds of imaginative stories! Pink mice and talking dogs with French accents that drink coffee. She loves them and I don't have to lose time reading an innocuous story about rainbow fairies. It's a win-win!

Dog Magic is a great book it's about a girl named Lottie that goes too a new school.

Character Trait- Nervous because she's at the school.

I think the most important event is when she meets a girl named Ruby and became friends.

I recommend this book for anyone who likes fantasy.

My dog mad 8 year old and I tried reading this for bedtime stories. Neither of us could get into it (we haven't read Catmagic), and so have deserted it fairly early on. I might try and give it another go independently before it's due back at the library, but maybe not.

Good and an easy read. It made sense even though I haven't read Catmagic. It's good for Harry Potter fans because it has magic.... Highly recommended.
