The twists and turns the series has taken continue to keep me on my toes and firmly on the hook. Cass deserves Calder so much. The intensity he brings and hat he has in him to give is special. They are so sexy together but more than that, I really liked who they were. Their flaws made them unique and stronger for having them. Cass' past could've easily brought her down but she continues to move forward and hasn't lost the belief in other people. Calder was lost and in need of something solid and good in his life. The plot continues to intrigue and revelations are made. Execution was fantastic and I enjoyed every moment.
Safety: No others for either after they reacquainted in the previous book. The story contains rape and abuse.

After reading Gold Shimmer I was dying to find out what happened next! What started out as a simple favor by Cass for a girl she barely knows ends up changing her entire life. In mostly bad ways, but it also allowed Calder in her life. Even after the several years since they'd seen one another he knew it was her the first time they interacted.
There's so much going on, it's impossible to try and explain. You can get the plot from the book. Both Cass and Calder are involved in mysterious and dangerous situations. They have to hide their relationship, and even the fact that they know each other in order to stay safe. But despite all their best precautions, the past comes back...the one Cass has tried hiding from and the one Calder has sworn to avenge. Seemingly separate paths that end up entwining with the same group of deadly people who are driven ultimately by greed and don't care who they hurt in the process.
Calder loves Cass but she still questions the truth of that because of the secrets about Celeste that he keeps. I don't blame her, he seems overly concerned about Celeste and had obviously been close to her. I would question his feelings too. There's turmoil in their separate lives and there's turmoil in their relationship.
I couldn't wait to turn the page and continue following Calder and Cass, this book was nonstop suspense mixed in with super hot moments that made me melt inside.

Cass is posing as Celeste for a day, or that’s what the planned was. Cass never intended it to last longer than that, until things shift and everything turns. It will keep you on the edge until the very last word of this story.

I loved the mystery and the suspense of this story, it kept me on my toes trying to guess who was behind the actions that have taken place and who was the ring leader. I loved the passion and chemistry between these two characters, and the plus side is you still can read on the relationship between Bastian and Talia.
I highly recommend this book and its entire series, if you love a good suspense, sexy, hot alpha Navy SEALs then this is the book for YOU.

Book Review - Steel Rush by P T Michelle - 5 Sexy, suspenseful Stars!
Ok folks, I’ll just open here with if you haven’t read any of Patrice’s work before, then you need to stop reading this, and go and one click Mister Black pronto. You can then come back and read this, once you’ve been gripped, obsessed and caught up to where we are in the story. Whilst you only need to have read Gold Shimmer, to understand Cass and Calder’s story, you really need to start back at the beginning, to fall in love with Sebastian and Talia and learn how everyone interconnects. So if you’re all caught up and safe now, let me start with this:
*JUST REMEMBER SEBASTIAN IS MINE*
One of the things I love about this author’s work, is how deeply she plots out her story and characters. Once you get to the end and uncover everything, go back and read the story again, if you have time. You’ll see things that you weren’t aware of the first time round, and have a few ‘aha’ moments.
Then there is the fact that she loves a good ‘PLOT TWIST.’ Yes, just when you think you know where a story is going, she’ll spin you about and get you guessing in other directions. I love when you really have to search for the answers and not everything is mapped out for you.
She’s not afraid to write flawed but strong heroines. Yes our girls have been through the mill, and yes there are battles that have been raged, but here they are still standing. So often I’m left disappointed with how weak females are painted in books. When I find someone who can give an accurate portrayal of how women can be both weak and strong, and ultimately still fighting for the good life they believe they deserve, then I love that author a little more than some of the others.
Now of course our heroes - here’s my mental volleying back and forth:

The ramblings of a sane woman, not a chance. The ramblings of a fan, who had two heroes brought fantastically to life, absolutely. Again, because our men are not perfect, but they are 100% not arseholes. I’m not sure when the fantasy for women became being treated like dirt by someone, but I’d much rather a Calder who wants to claim me because he believes there is no-one in the world better for him, than some of the other heroes brought to life on paper (or your tablet, kindle - you get my drift.) There isn’t anything he won’t do to ensure that Cass is safe, protected and cherished. And boy if that doesn’t make you swoon.
Add into that, that he is a growly, bitey kind of boy and you’ll find yourself reading scenes and wishing you could swap places with a fictional character.
So you are asking, what actually happens in this book? We have lots of information above, but I’m looking for the gist of the story. Well here’s the thing. I don’t want to spoil it for you, not one bit, so I’m going to try to sum it up in a few soundbites that draw you in but don’t give any of the suspense away.
Dopplegangers, missing persons, murder suspects, secret fights, entwined families, loyalty, betrayal, hidden passages, hot sex, swoony males, sadistic bastards, fighting back, misdirections, honour, truth.

The continuous love story of Cass and Calder. Cass is
pretending to be Celeste then Celeste goes missing. She may have been pregnant and the car they find had blood in it. Enough to make them think that she was killed. Can Cass and Calder find out who is the father of Celeste’s baby and who kill her? Great story.

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace
I have been keen to get my hands on Steel Rush because the previous book, Gold Shimmer, left me with so many questions. Now that I’ve finished Steel Rush, I must applaud P.T. Michelle, because I did not see that coming! It was a fabulous ending, full of twists, suspense and a plenty sizzling moments between Cass and Calder!
Cass begins this book still masquerading as Celeste, living at the Carver estate. Celeste hadn’t returned home and now Cass wants to get to the bottom of the mystery, without getting herself implicated in the disappearance. Calder comes to the estate and insists on staying by her side. Slowly, more details emerge about Celeste and her past, and the plot gets thicker!
I enjoyed seeing Cass and Calder work together. She was hesitant at first, because she was unsure of Calder’s true feelings, but he soon shows his loyalty and will do anything to protect her. Calder has a fierce protective side and wants to stay as close as he can to Cass. His feelings are strong for her and he doesn’t like that she has to spend so much time around another man. But they both have to play their parts to uncover the culprits. Calder and Cass are always hot together, and when they managed to get some alone time in this book, it was as scorching and as intense as I expected.
It was good to see guest appearances from other characters that I have come to love throughout this series too. Bash and Talia help out when needed, Mina was able to bring supplies and Damien was able to schmooze with the elite business class. I love all these characters and I am hoping that Mina and her brother Damien get their own books too!
P.T. Michelle did a remarkable job at weaving the mystery and suspense throughout Steel Rush. She kept me thinking and on the edge of my seat. I had my suspects, but didn’t expect the turn of events that occurred. It was a very clever read and I was surprised as to how it all wrapped up. I am excited to get more from this world!!

Steel Rush by P. T. Michelle is book 5 of the In the Shadows series and book 2 in the Black Shadows duet. It is an erotic romance and MMA novel. It is recommended that it be read in conjunction with Gold Shimmer, book one of the Black Shadows duet.

We begin Steel Rush as the questions about Celeste continue to mount. We are also given more insight into the night that Cass and Beth were together at the MMA match. There are so many factors and unknowns that remain yet to be unlocked, and we are hopeful to find the keys that will unlock not only these mysteries, but also Cass and Calder's pasts and futures.
"When I dance with you our bodies move in sync naturally. Chest, hips, thighs. This is sex with clothes on, Cass."
Written in dual points of view, Steel Rush was a read that I could sink my teeth into and never let go. Wow! I loved this book! Cass and Calder displayed some heat and passion in Gold Shimmer that instantly connected me with them. But, in Steel Rush, they had moments I will never forget. The way Calder spoke and treated Cass overflowed with sex appeal and lasting entrapment of the best kind. Being handed so many puzzles and unknowns gave a "what's going to happen next" feel that made me soak up each page. The addition of other character conflicts, as it blended with the story of Cass and Calder, served as the lighter fluid for a fire that was already likely to burn out of control. I cannot get enough of this series, and am so excited to read more in the near future.

Holy Smokes! What just happened? I think I’m going to need a re-read of Steel Rush stat!!! Why you ask? Because, one, I need extreme amounts of Cass and Calder in my life and two, I need more… Well, hell—just GIVE ME MORE!!! I’m so in love I just may flail about. And I’m not the flailer in the group. I’m the sweet, sassy, foul-mouthed lover. Hence my mad love for Calder.
Let me tell you a bit about Calder. He’s former SEAL (doesn’t that make you want to divest yourself of your panties right there?), fighter and lover, with a mysterious past! See all those things make him EXTREMELY HOT in my book! Like, I’m ready to search him out and kidnap him for my boudoir!! Cass is no floozy herself. She’s a stunning, smart, driven woman with a past of her own. But the thing about pasts…they always come back around. Yes, they do.
There is something so perfect about the In the Shadows books that keeps me coming back for more. From the very beginning, Mister Black had me captivated. Now, I just can’t stop!!

—Oh me, oh my, oh!! These two words make me melt into a puddle of nothingness. Every. Time. There is something so real about those words that I could just hear them being whispered in my ear. The dark and dangerous voice that I dream to be Calder. “Raven mine.” Absolutely fucking swoonworthy!!
Steel Rush isn’t a simple love story. It’s full of complications, mystery, twist and turns and more. It’s the perfect combination of romance and suspense. The type that keeps the reader turning pages at a fast and furious rate but at the same time you don’t want to finish because you will be screaming for MORE!!! A gripping and awesome read!
This book was a page turner and I loved every second of it. Steel Rush is the fantastic conclusion to Calder and Cass's story in the Black Shadows duet (books 4 and 5 of the In the Shadows series). Like all the other books in the series, this one is packed with mystery, angst, action, suspense, twists and turns, dark secrets, romance, scorching chemistry, passion and most of all love.
Cass and Calder’s' story is amazing and I love their intense connection. Cass is a strong heroine. She’s a fighter. And former Seal Calder…what can I say? I freaking adore Bash but Calder is giving him a run for his money!
P.T. Michelle is a gifted author and I really love the way she portrays her characters and brings a captivating story to life.
Until the end I was wondering who the Observer was but I didn’t see this coming! I was left speechless!
It was also great that Talia and Bash were both playing an important role in this installment.

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!
OMG! I did not see that coming. It's been a while since a book has stumped me the way that this one did. I'm not going to spoil it but if you haven't read the series, I suggest you do. Starting at book 1 isn't necessary but is recommended so you get the gist on all characters. You should at least read Gold Shimmer before reading this. It was totally worth getting behind in my reviews.
I decided I needed to skim Gold Shimmer just as a refresher but ended up getting sucked into the story. I'm glad I did because there were things I forgot about and were necessary to better understanding things that go on in Steel Rush.
This book was a page turner that's for sure. It was intense, heart wrenching, mind blowing, and oh so steamy.
Bash is so hard to surpass on my BBF list but Calder sure have him a run for his money.

There's nothing better than having a crappy day and finding an ARC on your kindle from an author you adore! That was me 2 days ago. I was looking for my next read and up popped Steel Rush.
I tried to pace myself reading this one and not devour it but Patricia's writing is so emotionally, intensely awesome I couldn't put it down!
Cass and Calders story is more than I hoped for! The intensity between these two is scorching! The secrets, lies and deceit and love are so perfectly written I was seriously on the edge of my seat screaming "NO! Holy shit!! Didn't see that coming!" No joke either! I was blown away by some of the twistedness in this most awesome read!!
If you haven't read this series yet your in for your mind to be blown! Another mindblowingly awesome read from PT Michelle!

I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!!! (***SPOILERS***)
This was a great way to sort of tie up Cass and Calder's story!
Cass is still covering for a missing Celeste in this book, only Celeste isn't keeping in contact. When Cass finally tells the Carver family about being an impostor, she is asked to continue in order to hold off gossip about the Carvers. When she tries to uncover more about Celeste's disappearance by herself she is constantly railroaded by Phillip Hemming (the scum of the Earth).
Calder Blake is not the happiest when Cass gets cornered into playing Celeste for a little while longer, but at least he can watch over her by playing the part of Celeste's bodyguard. But being her bodyguard also distracts him from bringing down the EUC (an illegal MMA fighting ring). While trying to protect Cass from Hemming scum, even Ben Hemming (the only good Hemming male), he finds out that his mothers supposed affair wasn't really an affair and that he to is a Hemming by blood.
This book is filled with so much mystery and plot twists. I only named one, but so many other questions are answered in this book like where or what really happened to Celeste? What happens to the EUC? How does Jake Hemming tie into this mess? Will Cass and Calder ever become more?

This books had so many twists and turns. Cass has been through so much since high school. Her and Celeste look alike and Cass pays for it. Jake wants Celeste but she doesn't want him. Cass doesn't know any of this until Celeste asks her to pretend to be her for a day. Cass learns a lot about the Carver and Hemming family. All her bad memories she has hidden has come back. Cass is not the only one freaking with past demons. Calder has dealt with alot. His mother's suicide that was covered up to protect the fami!y name. After his father's death he gets a letter from his mother's attorney about the truth. Calder is deeply pained from what he finds out he pushes his family away. Cass and Calder are both damaged souls but together they become so much more. He becomes her bodyguard. He will not let anything happen to her. So much happens and a lot of truths are revealed. You won't stop reading. I thought Talia and Sebastian had a complicated pass. Calder and Cass fight for their relationship A must read

Cass has been impersonating Celeste at her request but when a vehicle rented by Celeste is found abandoned with blood on the seat and door, Cass is afraid that something has happened to her. She confronts Celeste's father and his attorney. Both want her to continue to pose as Celeste while they investigate but they do not want the police involved. Cass and Calder leave his apartment and someone shoots at them injuring Calder. He doesn't want her alone until the guilty party is found. Is it Phillip Hemming, the controlling attorney? Or is it his son Jake who tells everyone that Celeste is his? Or is Brent Tremmel involved in Celeste's disappearance?
Calder is upset when he finds his mother was drugged and raped and became pregnant. She let her husband think the baby was his and the guilt caused her to commit suicide. Calder finds out his biological father was Phillip Hemming, a man he totally loathes. Cass tells him that DNA doesn't define the person, the heart does. Jack Blake loved him as his son and Calder should remember all the good times they had.

WOW This story is so intense! So much going on. I hope you read the other books in this Series! Though some can be Stand Alone's, they really help tell the stories ongoing tale. Cass is Talia's bf! They met in College. Both with histories they don't want to talk about & such love for each other, they don't need to. Friendship, sisterhood, trust, love!!
Calder goes to a Costume party with his cousin Sebastian, to help lift the spirits of their sister & cousin. Who knew that he would find his life partner? And not see each other again till 3 years later?
What an intense story. You don't really know all that's going on until the end!! Amazing, loving, danger, manipulation, murder!!

Cassie past is entangled with her doppelganger and the craziness begins. The passion between her and Calder is in jeopardy. Twist after twist. This book is extremely dramatic and will take you there. Still tingle worthy. Exciting. Read Gold Shimmer first and then read this. A very excellent journey. Read the whole series!!! So worth it.

Oh what a great conclusion for Cass and Calder's story.
Our characters definitely need to learn how to communicate, I don't know how many times I wanted to crawl into the book and bash their heads together.
Loved seeing the other characters and catching up with Talia and Sebastian.

Steel can be used to protect or destroy it depends on one's intentions. Calder was in a dark purposeless place after leaving the SEALS. Cass thought she had tucked her past into the shadows. Celesete's disappearance exposes intentions that were masked. Rough sexy times I could not resist this quote: Idris: “Biting’s excellent. It’s like kissing. Only there’s a winner”.

Cass and Calder have come together but both have secrets that neither are willing to share. As the mystery behind Celeste's disappearance begins to unravel, more questions than answers become prevalent. As more people become involved, the dangers increase.
There's a lot of mystery in this book, and the build up is great. Some things become pretty obvious, but I learned that even the obvious has there own twist. Overall, this book was intriguing and a Well-written finish in the duet.

I am loving this story! Cass and Calder are explosive. This story is so riveting. There are twists and turns and just when you think you figured it out, bam another turn comes. I am loving the writing style and the storylines. I have been doing the audio books and the readers do a phenomenal job! I am so eager to read more!

Sexy & Romantic with a mystery story line
This book in the Shadow Series was a 5+ one. Kept me guessing. I laughed & cried. Very sexy & romantic. I hope there is more of Cass & Calder's story to come. Their characters really drew me in.

Calder and Cass have shared a lot but trust is still not implicit between them. Cass is forced into impersonating Celeste and the consequences are far reaching. Twisted family dynamics and terrible secrets only serve to draw Cass and Calder closer.

The twists and turns in this book are AMAZING! I would have never guessed the identity of the Observer, so it’s mind blowing. I love that Cass and Calder finally fond there way, though their path is so intense. Highly recommend.

Couldn't put it down!
I want more Calder! This read has just enough edgy kinky sex and just enough mystery you can't put it down until you know how it ends. And it has surprises.
It's also great to see Bash & Talia. But, like I said, I want more Calder!

The story of Cass and Calder continues in this second and final instalment. It picks up where it left off in Gold Shimmer. This part is packed with various scenarios going on at the same time and yet everything ties up and falls into place very tidily.
In Gold Shimmer Cass being Celeste's Doppelganger was asked by Celeste to stand in for her at an event whilst she attended to an urgent business. Everything was going to plan until the arrangement fell through when Celeste failed to make contact with Cass as previously agreed.
Cass is now worried about Celeste and firmly believes that the police should be involved. She plucks up the courage to face Celeste's father to own up to the truth but his lawyer doesn't believe that this is necessary just yet. Cass agrees to continue with the pretense of being Celeste for the time being.
Calder is an ex Seal and has only recently reconnected with Cass. He knows the truth too and can tell the difference between the two girls. He is worried about Cass and insists on seeing "Celeste" despite everyone's reluctance. He is currently working under cover with the aim of uncovering a corrupt and illegal MMA organisation. He is not prepared to leave Cass exposed to danger and the situation is now more complicated.
The connection between Cass and Calder is undeniable and when they are together, it's electric and the passion between them cannot be ignored. They start to open up to each other but as some secrets are not easy to divulge, their relationship is very tentative. Will they ever be able to overcome their fears and trust each other completely? Then there is the observer whose identity is the biggest surprise of them all. Who would have thought?
It's nice to see Bash and Talia both playing important roles to emphasise the strength of their loyalty to Cass and Calder. This story is well paced and packed with surprises and intrigues. It's a series which I would fully recommend to 18+ readers due to the adult contents.
Bash, Talia, Calder and Cass are lovable characters and it's nice to know that there is more to come. It will be great to see what the next instalment brings for Bash and Talia. Black Shadows is like an addiction!

Cass & Calder, good story that I am glad was told. Sebastian & Talia were a lot more compelling. Looking forward to the story line switching back to s/t in book 6.
