Surprisingly very good. Winona Abbot considered herself done with men and content to be a spinster. After she caught her lover Deegan cheating on her with another heiress, she realized his interests were mainly in money not love. So Wyn decided now that she’ll never marry, she would let her brother use her dowry in his new business venture, a steam ship line. Grateful for his sisters help he allows Wyn to take the first voyage on his cruise line, bringing along her newly widowed friend, Hildy. The ship takes sail for England and Wyn is grateful for the change in scenery. Within the ship’s departure she meets a tall, and mysterious man admiring the ocean view. Garret Blackhawk had lived the life of an adventurer. Traveling the world and seeing life from all perspectives, mainly to ignore his duties as a Baron. Garret detests his position in English nobility and loathed the responsibility that came with it. When his father passes Garret has to return to England to become the head of his household. He and his companion Deegan plan to sail in the steam ship line. Within minutes Garret meets Wyn and is taken back by her beauty. While there is immediate chemistry between the two, Wyn is set on remaining a spinster, on top of that she is extremely skeptical of Garrets intentions after dealing with gold digging men. To make matters worse her ex lover Deegan happens to Garrets best friend. This confirms her dislike for the man, as she unsuccessfully tries to avoid him on the voyage. But Garret and Wyn’s turbulent love affair is not the only danger at hand. A jewel thief has taken over the country making headline news for the socialites. And now that jewel thief has made their way onto the ship and has begun their thievery abroad. With a criminal on the loose, Wyn is quick to assume Garret is not actually a Baron and believes him to the culprit. Amused Garret is relieved someone sees him as something other than a Baron. Garret has to do his best to convince Wyn not only of his innocence, but also of his love for her. A chaotic tale of love, deception and mystery.

Actually I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. Slightly slow to the start but only slightly. I love boat settings. Put me on a ship, out to sea, on the ocean. I. Love. It. Never disappoints. It’s a really fun plot with a lot of different working parts. I love a good switched pov, I think it really adds a lot to romance books to see into both characters minds. I also enjoyed the jewel thief perspective who remained anonymous nearly the whole book. The plot twist was decent. Not totally crazy but it was still a bit of shock enough for me to like it a lot. Good side characters as well. I loved Deegan despite his problems lol. A good book for sure, had a really great vibe to it. I clearly saw this story in my head played out like a movie, honestly I could see it as one. Overall very good!

This book had a bit more adventure and less romance than I would have liked, but it was still kind of fun. It just didn't seem as if I saw the characters falling in love, but suddenly they were.

My main problem was too much villain perspective. It did give clues as to who the actual villain was while also misdirecting, but it got kind of tedious after a time.

And the worst part- the first intimate scene was written entirely from the perspective of the villain. The hero and heroine were kissing, then suddenly it jumps to the villain watching them from a window while they do something. It wasn't even entirely clear what they did, except that it involved kissing on a couch and no actual sex. And when the first sex scene came around, most of it was from the hero and heroine's perspective, but again, it jumped to villain perspective near the end. I really have to wonder what the author was thinking to do that.
